Oh I'm sure a Max would be perfect for you if that's the case!

...Did you honestly find that funny?

I thought it was hilarious...

No, I just plain don't like Bored Tomatoe because of a thread that seems to think a product is bad due to the way it is addressed to the public, that and he spelt tomato wrong.
Oh and by the way, I'm posting with my Mac, it works fine for me, much smoother than the PC downstairs. I use one for certain things like recording music, creating media and writing word documents, the other for games. Both respectively I might add.

I never said the product was bad, I take it that you are a mac fanboy, don't worry, no one is going to hurt Steve Jobs. And I am aware of my misspelling.Troll.

I forgot to mention, that while I don't use a Mac, I do quite like those ads. I think the PC ones out now are good too, mostly because it's a nice counter-attack. Apple were freely saying "Macs are great and fun and cool, PC's are rubbish and boring and eeewww", and "PC" have just come along to say "That's incorrect", without being as blatant as Apple were with the PC bashing, they did their "bashing" by merely imitating the style of the adverts.

You know what's strange? I spent almost 20 times less on my gaming/audio PC at home compared to the Mac Pro I use at work every day and...I greatly prefer my home PC for recording music, creating media, hell, doing everything compared to the Mac Pro I use at work.

Just goes to show it all boils down to preference and intelligence.

Oh without a shadow of a doubt, when money comes into it... Macs lose every time in comparison.

Edit
Okay I'm looking like a real Mac hater here now... I should point out that I really don't care, I'm a man of logic though.

Actually, due to heavy subsidies (or Cupertino black magic), it's much cheaper to buy a Mac Pro than to build your own octo-core Xeon system.

But that's honestly a huge waste of money the majority of the time anyway.

I'm really not a fanboy, as I explained in the section of my post that you decided not to quote in order to tilt the argument in your direction. Also, why spell it wrong then? Isn't it obvious that knbheads like me will call you on it?

I never really enjoyed macs, but I hate the commercials. They lie so much. But what commercaials are people talking about that Microsoft riped of Apple? The Mojave thing wasn't a rip off it was actually quite interesting. Oh and as for creative things, there isn't a single Mac in my schools art department.

Possibly for the same reason I put an h on the end of my name, because we felt like it?

Apple isn't the only computer company that sells octo-core systems. I've seen other ones that were much cheaper. Plus the RAM that they sell in those systems costs 500$ for 4 gigs, and its the same kind on newegg or compusa or tigerdirect.

I think you'll find that these professionals choose what they prefer for themselves

Then I feel sorry for the professionals that choose inferior products.

Amen.

Although, Macs aren't necessarily inferior in music production. They just cost a lot more to do the same exact things you can do with a Windows machine.

Of course, we can't forget personal preference. I just prefer to save my money and spend it where it counts: the recording hardware.

I agree on the hardware front; it makes by far the biggest difference with recording. In fairness,i can bitch all day about how many professionals prefer what computers, but the one thing they probably all have in common is that they all use good quality mics, mixers, FX etc.

It's cheaper at the base level, but at a certain point, I think that the Mac components become more expensive than the self-build, particularly regarding graphics cards. Eventually, the PC builds by the likes of HP will out-pace the Mac Pro by a long distance as well.

Horses for courses, I reckon.

Every windows notebook I've owned has bricked on me within 3 months, and that's with light use. Got a MacBook for uni and got on great with it, and luckily all the specialist chem software I need runs native.

That said, I own XP and Vista rigs for gaming and general use, and an iMac for course related work when I'm not on campus. Even break out *gasp* Unix for a spot of functional programming now and then.

Anyone arguing that one platform is the be all and end all is a tool as far as I'm concerned.

*blinks*

Oh, the ads? Both Apple and Microsoft came up with shit for them, seriously. Not like I've ever bought anything based on advertising.

I kind of like the ads, they're pretty funny. I like the two actors too, especially John Hodgman (the PC), he's great. Has anyone else seen him on the Daily Show? And he also wrote a hilarious book - The Areas of My Expertise. It's a "reference" book that, among many others, has a section detailing the period when the Hoboes attempted to overthrow the US Government. Definitely worth checking out.

The only thing Macs are good for are giving you a headache. I have to use one where I work. Do you know how hard it is to do Photoshop without being able to right-click? Not only that but their slow as hell.

Sure apple overexagurate in teh ad, but vista is pretty terrible, speaking as a disgruntled user. Sure it does'nt crash a lot, but its always asking to restart. And the system resources it takes up are immense. If you have 1 gb of ram, its always using at least 50% of it. Also the compatibility issue is true. I installed my copy of cubase sx3 and vista wouldn't take it. The program wouldn't save in the specified directory, and it made all the OS's interface un usable. Also id agree vista's no fun. It has no software exept the crappy free games out of the box, whereas macs have ilife, so you can do loads straight off the bat

My vista only asks to restart when theres updates.
I've only had one game that wasn't compatable, and the developers refused to fix it. (they could have easily (lazy bastards))
I love the new interface, its faster than ME (jumped from ME to vista)
PC becomes fun when you buy games for it, the games that come with computers, PC or MAC suck.
I've tried using macs before and they just annoy me. Everyone I know hates macs

This, many times over. Not that mac users talk with their hands, but Maddox took segments from commercials that prove just how idiotic Mac users are.

"I couldn't find anyone who could tell me what cable I needed to plug my camera to my PC"
...
Surely everyone knows what a USB cable is? It IS an industry standard after all...

Windows should just release an ad where the mac guy raves on and on and on about macs and at the end the windows guy just says "you talk a lot of bull" then a slogan appears on screen that say's "Windows, we've already won"

And seriously people Macs are making fun of "WINDOWS" not PC's because macs are PC's to theya re making fun of an operating system no a platform

I love my mac book, ignoring that every time I go to turn it on I say a little prayer that it wont die.
It's great for surfing, watching videos and listening to music. But I own a PC for all my gaming, trying to do that on my Mac would be a waste of time.

Wait they were ads to get people to buy macs?

That's odd; it seems the only thing they (the commercials) did was make the ignorant boycott Vista.

If Macintoshes are so great they'd be advertising something about how Macintoshes are great, and not how a certain competitive OS has certain issues (which have mostly been fixed with the service pack) with certain settings on.

Obviously if you put all the pretty sparkly effects on vista, it'll run slow. Obviously, with a new operating system, you're bound to have a few compatibility issues.

There is nothing a mac can do that a PC cannot. There's no point in buying a mac if you're just going to use Windows on it anyway.
