Band: Boston One of the fastest selling debut albums of all time with one of the best songs I've ever heard (More Than a Feeling), Tom Sholz is my favorite guitarist. I recommend this album to anyone who is a classic rock fan. You will not be disappointed. |

Bullet for My Valentine - "The Poison" Great metalcore, a bit of an overarching story if you listen closely, and contains one of the saddest metal songs I have ever heard: 10 Years Today Flight of the Chonchords - (Self Titled) Hillarious parody music. If you like the show, pick up the album. |

If this is the album I think it was, very good choice. Though they're not my favorite metal band by some measure, they're a bit more accessible compared to some. My only other recommendation for transition to good metal would be the early Opeth stuff, especially Orchid. However, I will recommend some other album in a totally different genre. Jupiter Sunrise A band that, aside from being pretty unknown, had a score of original songs that, while featuring a mostly standard, though original, pop guitar sound, still provided the musical variety along with some very sweetly lyrical and evocative lyrics. Sometimes I find one or the other to be a strong drawing point, but Jupiter Sunrise does both with a rather sharp eye for detail, and while either one alone might not be sufficient, both together create a strong album with excellent unique rhythms that shine in a variety of areas, and the combination is often flawlessly executed, such as a particularly elaborate description of a summer night-time scene to a sparsely acoustic and wide sound that really draws you in. Not only that, but the overall upbeatedness makes it seem even more jarring when they come to the occasional but well placed harsh bridge that packs more emotion than you get from an entire CD most of the time. OK, stop talking, I like them, give it a shot. |

Born of Osiris The album that broke my heavy music threshold and introduced me to the very lovely world of deathcore and the technical side of death metal. All young guys, their debut album with viciously fast, confusingly technical, brutally heavy guitar and drum work with punishing vocals and innovative keyboard work. I love this band and the songs from this album. Stand outs are "Bow Down", "Empires Erased", and "Brace Legs".
Nas Considered by basically every music critic ever to be the greatest example of hip hop ever, if you don't like Illmatic, then simply put, you just don't like hip hop. Every song on the album is a classic. The flows are hypnotizing, the beats are immortal in hip hop's memory, and the lyrics are just mesmerizing. Nas ranges from a solemn storyteller to speaking trance-like monologues sounding like he's channeling several dead poets all at once. The guy's amazing, and the album is perfect. Personal favorite tracks are "Halftime", "It Ain't Hard To Tell", and "The World is Yours". |

The best way to describe this album is addicting. Every song has the potential of ingraining itself into your subconscious whether you like it or not. Humor abound but many of deep messages as well. Lots of vocal talent and great lyrical work , though if you like musicianship it leaves more to be desired as heavy electronic loops and synthesizers are equally respected as the guitars musicians themselfs for this band. |

Band: Apostle of Hustle It's the first album by Apostle of Hustle, a Broken Social Scene spinoff headed by their lead guitarist, and surprisngly enough they sound nothing like BSS. This is one of the greatest blues records I have ever listened to. It's very bassy, moody, and mellow. They have a second album, but it's not nearly as good. It's one of my all-time favorites. |

Reason: Its hard to know where to start with this. Giant riffs, amazing solos, great songs, anyone with even a passing interest in rock n roll/punk/metal will absolutely love this album. Smart lyrics and excellent beats. Dogs Die in Hot Cars Sad lyrics sung in an upbeat manner. Maybe not original but perfect. These really disappeared which is a shame because I thought they were bloody brilliant. Caravan Light hearted, progressive and wonderful. If this album were a person it would be a foppish dandy that you just couldn't dislike. Golf Girl and Love to Love You are still probably two of my favourite straight up pop songs. The Doors The last triumphal hurrah from one of the greatest bands ever. This album has LA Woman, Love Her Madly and the infinite joy of Riders on the Storm. Dark, filthy, self-indulgent and drugged up, but filled with so much genius its hard to deny. |

Band: Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds Why you chose to recommend this album: It's stripped down Dave. Just two friends with acoustic guitars having fun and improvising freely round familiar songs. Removed are his trademark over production, brass, keyboard and drums. It feels intimate, like a 2 hour unplugged session. Dave Matthews is probably one of the greatest songwriters of our time and this is his best of, best played. It's mellow and smooth, this album would stay with you for a while. It's firmly in my top ten. Enjoy |

These being: It's also the last Metallica album which included Cliff Burton (RIP) so if you're a fan on Burton's stuff, i greatly recommend it. "Orion" the 2nd last track on the album, is probably my faviorite instrumental in Metal, written by Cliff Burton himself, this song was played at his funeral |

Kamelot is one of metal's most unique, influential, and prestigious acts to come along in decades. Their music is amazing ranging from their vocals to keyboards. Wide variety in range of songs on the album, and a few guest appearances, the most notable being Simone Simons from Epica. I wish I could describe this better, but it is too much for me to contain in words, to be honest. |

Probably the premier album by one of Canada's best Indie Rock collaborations. Joining together the stellar talent of Danny Bejar (Destroyer), Neko Case and Carl Newman, Twin Cinema presents a stronger sound with a clearer direction than the bands previous endeavors and puts forward some awesome Rock, Power Pop and sometimes just plain weird tracks. The albums highlight are the brilliant tracks "Use It" and "Bleeding Heart Show" both of which well convey the New Pornographers musical styling. Basically if you like Strong Vocal Harmony's backed by awesome drums, great guitar and some more eclectic musical arrangement, you'll like this album. |

I choose this album because if ANYONE has any doubts as to the sincerity of how far metal has evolved from their earlier notions of the genre (and the ignorant stereotypes undeserved...) then this album has the potential to change their minds. A great introduction to a band that has never made a single bad album as of yet and only continues to grow as a defining musical act.
