Seems like people have a grudge against site-users who enjoy Zero Punctuation. I like a lot of the things here but ZP is what brought me here, and in my opinion it's the funniest part of the site. I like Stolen Pixels, don't really like Unforgotten Realms and haven't watched enough De-Rez to have an opinion.

Well, if you hadn't noticed, some people on this site are a bit elitist, and anything that brings in more of the "Unwashed masses" is bad to them.

That said, go to the threads for Yahtzee's videos. Those people I mentioned earlier aren't completely wrong, even though it did bring in people like you and me.

There's no issue with liking ZP, lots of us like ZP.
The problem is the people it attracts, like people from the roosterteeth and GameFAQs forums who only post on the ZP threads to be first post. They're all idiots who treat the Escapist like just another forum site, instead on one where we don't use the words "ive" or "u".

I never would have joined this site if it weren't for zero punctuation. I do like the forum community here, but I would not even know about the escapist if it weren't for Yahtzee's trailer on YouTube.

All kidding aside, I think it's easier for people to vent their displeasure on something that's equally vocal as opposed to something like the Escapist Show. If someone is harsh towards a game that you may like, how willing will you be to listen to them, let alone support them?

I'm another follower of the fully ramblomatic turned ZP but once I got here I noticed "Hey there's alot of cool shit here for me to argue about" and so I joined

And I think the hate mainly comes from as has been said people who think the site only exists on wednesdays for the purpose of ZP

The thing is, I'm a bit of an elitist myself but there doesn't really seem to be anyone here who needs to feel the wrath of my displeasure. Nobody's opinion on anything has genuinly frustrated me, because I am yet to encounter an argument that lacks personal (and therefore acceptable) logic. To be honest though, thinking about it, I'm also yet to encounter a ZP Episode that lacks several banned users for speed-posting "FIRST!" or similar useless posts of pointless self satisfaction. But as stated, they're banned for it and so don't remain in the community.

I'm still kinda new at the site, but I would never had come here unless it was for ZP on X-play. I'm so glad I came here though. I never knew that there are people that used the internet that know what grammar and spelling are.

Why do some people only like Indie rock bands? Because they are elitists who can't stand the idea that some stranger (probably dumb) might like the same things as them.

I'm one of those people that came here through Zero Punctuation (I'm also a RoosterTeeth member), but I don't consider myself a moron, and it doesn't long to catch on that Escapist is a different class of forum.

I like ZP, I never would have joined without it (or without my Game Design professor showing me ZP), but I also enjoy the site for other reasons. I can see both sides of the argument. Yes, many people who post on ZP threads are, to put it lightly, the reason why I support natural selection; however, others on the Escapist can come off as elitist. That isn't to say that I haven't seen idiotic posts outside of ZP threads, but they do seem to congregate there, and there are a whole lot of lofty, condescending folk on the Escapist, but to be honest, neither of these groups really bother me, because I do my very best to avoid them so that I don't feel the need to go on a rampage.

I don't know why no-one else point this out but you gave this thread the wrong name. It's meant to be "Why all the hate on ZP?" You could just edit it to fix that.

I came here for Zero Punctuation, and stayed for the quality forums. That said, I find it irritating when people quote Yahtzee verbatim in lieu of any original comments or thoughts. It's as bad as when people quote comedians verbatim in lieu of actually being funny.

Because everything popular on the internet attracts trolls I love ZP but for every one good member it attracts it gives the forum at least one troll a troll that is quickly slayed but a troll never the less.

That and I don't like all you new guys getting more posts than me making my e-penis feel small D:

Ya I joined because of zero punctuation and I still watch the old ones from time to time to get my mood up, but to be honest I'm glad I joined these forums, the community here is beyond awesome. Every time I got on the computer I used to check my mail and do what I came to do, now there's always at least a 10 or more minute stop every day. Actually I'm a big fan of De-rez and Unforgotten realms, I also always anticipate the escapist show to see Russ humiliate himself for our amusement. To be honest this is the best site I've ever been to and I'm glad I joined. I don't realize why a lot of people dislike ZP either to be honest. It's one of those little things that keep me from banging my head against the wall till I drop dead.

P.S. Can somebody explain the need to say First! on comments... it always struck me as an action similar to... Look at me I'm an idiot!

I origionly came here looking for ZP, and once I got here I started watching all the other video series. Eventualy I saw a few interesting topics that I wanted to post on, so I joineed the forums. Now I love these forums, and I go on them quite often. Plus since I got here my grammer has improved significantly.

I don't hate Zero Punctuation. In fact, I love it. But what I do hate is the people that comment on his videos with inane drivel. Seriously, those comments are as bad as Youtube comments. Yes, I have commented on ZP before. In fact, I commented on the most recent one. But those are the few comments that make sense, and actually add something to the video. Plus there's the fact that every Wednesday we start dealing with all the trolls that leak in from ZP into the forums. And that's not fun for anyone.

the only reason im here is because of zp - and partly de-rez.

I normally post on CVg forums - too many people on this site and your posts just get buried.

Or whatever, alot of the veterans here appeared because the ZP videos introduced us to the Escapist.

Now, I love Yahtzee's videos more or less, and I have no problem with the traffic he brings. More members in the Escapist, and hopefully more of the good ones. It's the little tikes that come here more often in the ZP section though. I don't normally go to the comments section in the videos, but when I do venture there it's the near equivialent of 4Chan. Okay, that was extreme, but you get the idea.

But, if we hopefully get more intelligent people, then I'm not complaining.

Yeah, I gotta agree w/ most everyone else on the subject. I came here for ZP originally, but I joined the forums a year later and I really like it here. But a lot of other people just come here to be asses. I have no problem w/ that seeing as they all get banned anyways; everyone that matters stays on.

I think most of the hate is directed towards ZP fanbase.

I joined here cause Yahtzee is someone I can relate to in many ways, and I hoped the forum would yield to me an abundance of neat people to talk to and laugh with.

My sad story begins when I was one of the elites on a forum on the site for tourettes guy.
It was the most amazingly hilarious and awesome forum ever, and we were all so tight fitted that we could basically filter the crappy unfunny people out from cool people, just by shunning them.

But that's been gone for lo' these many many months, and for nearly a year now I've never been able to find a forum with as much ridiculously awesome spunk as that forum had.
There's always so many people that are complete narcissistic morons who want nothing more than popularity and the feeling of importance among complete strangers.

The internet is a dark cold place for me now : (

I love Zero Punctuation. It taught me to be a more discerning consumer. Zero Punctuation is what brought me here. I didn't know anything about the escapist except "it has those hilarious reviews that I saw on X Play." It got me into commenting on threads like this one.

Every time a fecking ZP video get's posted you instantly get a 'OMG another amazing review from yahtzee!' or 'yahtzee does it again!' and it sickens me to the very core of my being.

But It's almost become impossible to actually like a jRPG or a Nintendo game on this site because of the bloody fanboys, as stated above. It also doesn't help that people truly think that Yahtzee is the only trustworthy reviewer around, something that has been irritating me since I saw it on these forums some months ago.

And I know that those same fanboys will bring their retarded friends (from gametrailers) and then It's only a matter of time before this website becomes another game trailers, a 'ps3 is beating 360' or 'why 360 is the best console on earth' thread is on the front page almost every single time and if not that then it's about one of the consoles being better than the rest or about killzone 2 vs crysis. And dare you even go into one of the threads.....
