Is it just me in thinking that the good feeling of knowing it's Christmas has gone?
Christmas Eve, I didn't feel any sense of hope or happiness in knowing it was Christmas tomorrow.
I've never been really a big fan of Christmas, being its a commercial sinkhole, but the time period at least feels... significant?

Anyone else had this feeling or similar?

actually this christmas seemed better than the last couple years

Bah! Christmas was gone last night at about 12:00am.
Some people loved it, some people think it sucked.

Your growing up?

Bulletinmybrain:
Your growing up?

Thats the one!

Christmas was awesome, its always awesome.
I get things, I see my family, I see my friends and I got abit drunk.

Also I like the idea that families get brought together across the world (Those who celebrate it obviously).
And each time I wake up christmas morning I remember what its like to be younger again.

That makes me happy.

It's not just that. This year in general, most people felt, sucked ass. You might call this bullshit or mumbo jumbo, but this year has had some bad energies (psychic) in general. These energies influence how we feel in a big way. Trust me, by mid-Febuary , things will be better.

Cause that's my birthday

I personally think Christmas was left 4 dead long ago.

..... sorry, just got it this morning, kind of obsessed. =P
I enjoyed this Christmas actually. I think for some odd reason its been coming and going faster then it has in years gone past, but it was still enjoyable.

Let's go with that :]

You just need to focus on the right parts and ignore the things that aren't Christmas; commercialism, etc.

That doesn't surprise me. I agree with the "most people". Not due to my own personal experiences, but when i think of the things that have happened in general to the human populace.

I think it just mean's we're all getting older.

I liked this Christmas, but that's mainly due to having an exceptionally shitty year, so meeting up with family & freinds, getting drunk & setting the world to rights put a positive light on things.

I get depressed around Christmas. I am an ATHEIST and I feel bad that Jesus' birthday has been shoed in on by some fat guy who breaks and enters into your home and big corporations saying Christmas can be obtained or exchanged. Christmas itself doesn't depress me one bit. It's really nice to see my family.

That is the main thing I think. I got an all time low in christmas presents, while the nephews and nieces were having a hard time staying above the tide line of toys. As long as they got a buzz this christmas its fine by me, My christmases have been meh for a while now though. But last time it was meh was because I got dumped the day before. "Merry christmas I hate you now." "Yay, how do I unwrap that?"

4thegreatergood, yea, It does sorta suck knowing capitalist swine took a dump in what should be someones birthday. How would they like it if we decided to have halloween or something on their birthday. Not only does everyone forget about you, but They'l try and take candy off you. =P

Alriiight! My birthday's bringing the good energies people!

Time to stop dragging your asses about Christmas and look forward to what I will yield to thee.

wasn't that great seeing as i didn't get anything i wanted, and i had to spend my own money to buy what i was hoping to get, is really depressing

On the subject.
Im not one for possessions, but all i asked for was a Harmonica, and that's what i got.
And i agree that my Christmas depression isn't based around the thought of giving and sharing.
I do love seeing all my family members and relaxing.
But I'm just getting at the fact that i believe the underlying themes are dieing.

yeah us old people can't enjoy christmas...

Didn't think this one was that great. But I think that's because my mum couldn't be arsed to cook enough food :(

I feel your pain. This is the first year I've not been that bothered. It's not just us. It's dying, and in my opinion political-correctness is to blame. There are little to no local or public decorations of christmas anymore because it's offensive

I read in some god-awful paper the other day about some family who were told to take their christmas tree away from their visible flat window because it might make non-christians feel "uncomfortable". That just ruined my spirit. I'm a total athiest and total non-believer of christianity but I still love Christmas and the few hours of magical splendour.

I know it's not just PC to blame. It's also our age.

Worst Christmas I've had so far, mainly because I couldn't fall asleep last night. Not to say it totally sucked, but I still wasn't as happy as I could've been.

I just realized that "The Polar Express", a great Christmas tale, essentially says that Christmas is about gifts and leaves out Jesus entirely.
On topic, this Christmas was bad for most, due to the recession and all, but I still tried to cherish the times I have with my family. My great-uncle is a REALLY interesting guy!

Bah, just wait, next year you'll be all "I didn't feel all Christmassy this year, it blew" and the cycle repeats itself.

That's what happens when you get older, you forget stuff...

If anything the Hannukah spirit is low, hell it's the 6th day or something and I don't feel no jollyness-ness or anything. Never have for the past 15 bazillion Hannukahs, why start now? :D

I know that I'm growing up and the magic of the season is lost over time no matter how much you try to compensate, but I really did feel like other people simply weren't feeling it either. When I was young I was used to seeing Christmas decorations everywhere and people dressed up in Santa costumes walking the streets of my town centre, but this year only a couple of shops had the occasional ribbon of tinsel strewn across the otherwise baron establishment, and I didn't see one person (aside from myself) dressed in the seasonal attire.

Might just be me but I did think this year was a lot less Christmassy than usual.

That's what I'm getting at. I know I'm growing up. I think that even for the younger people, it's lacking in feeling. I'm not the oldest of people, but i observe as well as any other.
People just aren't caring as much anymore.

Yeah, it did for me too. I was a little less excited but I was still pretty excited!

I don't think it really felt like Christmas this year. Never really talked about it with much of my friends. But I've had some fun family get-to-getters.

And why do you think it did not feel like Christmas?
I cant really put my finger on it.

It didn't feel like it did as a child. It seemed to me like an ordinary day almost.

mine was pretty good this year

I love Christmas.
The only time of the year when my childish behavior is tolerated.

I knew it! That's whats weird this year! It honestly didnt feel like Christmas to me.

I love how Christmas trees came from the pagan(?) religion of just bringing a tree into your home and planting it into your dirt floor to keep it warm.
I think banning anything like decorations is stupid anyway, but I draw the line at retarded.

Not only that but they also fail to keep their characters out of uncanny valley.
I never saw it though, but I don't want to.
