Well, a friend of mine just made me weep openly. By sending me a hyperlink. Of something that I've seen before, multiple times. And if you're over twenty-two, watched western television as a child and don't cry when you watch it then I am utterly convinced that you don't have a soul.

It's a simple little song about a very great man.

Now that I've revealed my weakness I feel you owe me one, so I want to know, what makes you weep uncontrollably, even if it is a little silly?

I love the Muppets as much as anyone, but yeah, no tears here.

I guess so Nifty, but at least you actually are over 22. Did you grow up with the muppets, or were they not part of your television experience?

I can't help but notice that none of you answered the question, either...

A kick to the balls would make me weep uncontrollably but other than that nothing but death of a loved one.

I was going to post that, that makes me cry every time.

I first watched it in Spanish class, and being the only one crying in a room is a very uncomfortable experience.

Oh I grew up with them. I'll always have a soft spot for the Swedish chef. It just doesn't tweak my strings.

But yeah, pepper to the eyes and up the nose will make my face leak a bit. As I found out today when I accidentally knocked a little bottle of black pepper out of the cupboard and it crashed down on the work top in a cloud of spiteful pain.

Woo, I'm soulless too. I don't like the muppets (okay, except Statler and Waldorf ;) )and I have no clue who that guy is. It does nothing for me.

I'd cry if I ever break up/lose my current partner, and I'd cry should I lose controls over a body part.. Like my legs, arms, or become paralyzed from the neck down. That'd suck. Bad.

's All I could think of, probably. I don't think crying from laughter counts :p

Maybe 22 was too young... How can you know who the muppets are and not know who Jim Henson is? That's like knowing what awful is and not knowing who EA are...

The final battle in Mother 3 always brings a tear to my eyes, as do several scenes in Little Miss Sunshine.

I haven't found the thing that makes me cry, although the scene in Independence Day where the dad flies into the ship always gets me close. I even watched the movie twice in a row and almost cried both times at the same part.

The ending of Big Fish makes me weep openly.

Edit: Yep, The Muppet Video and Kiwi one worked too.

I'll mention a few things. The part when Dobby died in Harry Potter 7.
I've only seen this in anime, most recently in Gurren Lagann, when the hero is in total despair and cannot defeat the villain and suddenly the reassuring voice of a fallen comrade comes to his ear and he turns to see him standing there. Whereupon he is urged to not give up and keep fighting.

This is what I'm talking about. It's in Japanese and there's not subtitles and it takes a while to get to what I'm talking about, but I think you'll get it if you watch it.

So you watched an American animation about a New Zealand animal in Spanish class?

Thinking about that almost makes me cry from the strain.

Yeah, Big Fish worked, as far as I remember. I was actually happy for the Kiwi, but I can see that the poignancy could be a tearjerker.

You sir, have made my day! I shall give you one of my 7 Internets.
Damn, I'm down to half what Necro gave me...
I didn't find the muppet tribute that great either, and now I feel soulless.
There was some movie I saw a while back, Grave of the Fireflies, I think it was called. That made me cry so many times.

That was amazing and deep, but I didn't cry over either that or the Muppet link.

Knowing the story behind this, this had me crying a good many times. Especially considering that E-102 seemed to be one of the best characters in the game.

This too, considering the story. Also, because it was the last movie Tom Cruise was any good in.

Spoilers out the arse for Half Life 2: Ep. 2, but this has got to be entirely too sad to pass up.

EDIT:

Oh gods, that too. I didn't cry when Sirius died, even though he was my favorite character. I almost cried when Dumbledore died, since he was my second-favorite. But Dobby.... He's Dobby. And his last words were just heartbreaking.

Also, This song saddens me without fail.

Listening to this song always makes me tear up. You have to really listen to the lyrics, and remember that he wrote it for a friend of his:

You're thirteen, for gods' sakes. I think even 22 might have been aiming a bit young for people that grew up with Jim Henson as a television presence. You really had to see him in an interview, when everyone, even the guy holding the mike, started to treat kermit like he was absolutely real. Or when they did a live appearance and fourty children lined up shyly to hold kermit's hand and they all believed.

...Remember, CL, there's nothing wrong with manly tears. Yes, manly tears...

Seeing the old GI Joe action figures from the mid-80's and early 90's.
No tears though, it's more nostalgic.

No soul for me, but then I knew that (my first question when I found out my Great Uncle had died was "Did he leave any debts for you guys? I know he was a bit of a... okay, was a drunk.").
