Hey, everyone has the right to an opinion. Unfortunately, it's opinions like this that make people like me question the wisdom of rights like those. Broaden your fucking horizons.
If your just talking about foul language in hip-hop then I can give you plenty of artists who don't use as much foul language. If your talking about something else share because I'm interested.
well, not just vulgarity that gets me down, but the lack of thought, and the idiocy of it, I find a lack of talent. The only people I would even get close to liking are Little Wayne (he has golden talent) and Sean Combs (knows what the hell he's talking about).
Paramour would be an obvious suggestion, though considering how popular they've become lately, you might have considered them already.
Thanks, its good to see a decent female singer, Pressure sounds good. :)
Some Rap and Hip-Hop is bad, but there's plenty of good stuff. I'd say you just haven't found anything quite to your tastes yet. Anyway, in Alternative Rock, I think Muse is pretty good. Bit of a blind short really though, since you don't list what you like beyond the genre of classic rock, and chances are anything I'd suggest, you'd already know of.
Anything that can hold a guitar is in, even country can pass, but now I'm currently listening to Linkin Park, Dave Matthews, Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, and a tiny bit of Avenged Sevenfold. So I guess I'll call it a plethora
Well there's....um.... I'm sorry, I apparently like everything you don't like. I could tell you plenty of death metal, regga, grindcore, electronic, rap, hiphop, reggaeton, spanish pop, but I tend to stay faaaar away from classic rock. Make that anything with rock in the genre name.
No, bad house country can not pass! I suggest Rise Against.
Anybody got any good Ska?
Try Muse, Kamelot, Placebo, Trivium, In Flames and I thought Eminem was a pretty good song writer. Well if you don't like Eminem atleast hear the others.
Emo is the herpies of the music industry. Everytime I hear one of those emo songs I just wanna smack someone. Seriously, i've NEVER heard of a bad with such a stupid name as some of those emo bands. Hell, i've never heard of MANY of those bands that fall under the genre. Emo killed Punk so it deserves to die. I swear i'm going to lose my head if another band names themselves something like "Say Anything". Once again, South Park said it best in the last episode of the latest season. Those vampire kids are not goth or dark in any way AND neither is Emo music.
Ha, you think your taste is hard to satisfy? Mine's societally abnormal by any standard of any time. e_@ Here, try Still Waiting by Sum 41.
I might be able live with Sum 41, but I don't know.
Bands that rock and still currently play are all over the place, but since you mentioned three decades which are now dead, I won't list any which started out during the aforementioned time period. First and foremost is my current favourite, Gogol Bordello. Here is a top-of-the-line merger of punk rock, gypsy music, Russian-English lyrics, and raggae. This is perfect party music, and you'll be sure to find great drinking songs in the volumes of this act. I saw Iron Maiden (favourite all-time band), Judas Priest, Heaven and Hell, Anthrax, Motorhead, and Testament, but I've never rocked out harder than I did at the Gogol Bordello gig. Great stuff. Recommended sample tracks (viewable for free on YouTube): Wonderlust King, Not A Crime, Underdog World Strike. --- There is Therion. If you like the epic and operatic, then listen to Therion. This is a Swedish band clad with an orchestra and a choir, which plays metal like it was composed by Wagner. Distorted guitars and quick basslines are accompanied with angelic voices and elaborate string melodies. If you like anything remotely resembling metal, then I'll recommend Therion. Recommended sample tracks: The Rise Of Sodom And Gomorrah, Birth Of Venus Illegitima, Deggial. --- I doubt you haven't heard of Serj Tankian's solo work, but here's a longshot in case you haven't. I'm quite the fan of System of a Down, and was only glad to see that their style and soul live on in Serj's work. He's a great composer and pianist, and if you enjoyed System, then you're either thinking why I'm wasting your time right now or going to check out the following: Recommended sample tracks: Empty Walls, Beethoven's Cunt, Sky Is Over. Hope that helped.
Listen to Random Hand! I saw them supporting Streetlight last month and they were OMGamazing. Other than that I'd recommend checking out The Specials, they may be second wave ska but for me they're still the definitive ska band.
For Third Wave chek out Sublime and Fishbone. The origional Jamaican/ african stuff is the best though. The Cure are still around and they are a great post-punk/ alternative rock/ pop band.
listen to the hip-hop (sorry I keep doing that but "rap music" is called hip-hop and I'm going to bold it until I drive it in your skull) that doesn't get as much promotion like here are a few artists; Asheru, MF Doom, Arrested Development (that last one is admitedly from the 90's). just look up those three, they are easily better than most mainstream hip-hop, and if your willing to take the content thing more laxly then definitely check out MF Doom because most of his songs aren't meant to be serious.
There's a reason why: Classic rock is dead and should be left in its grave. You rockists never get old.
You can't go wrong with BassHunter! I used to think techno was for creepy wierd people! Now I know that I am one of those creepy wierd people!
I'm sorry to use a tired old cliché, but Punk is not dead >:| Sure, it ain't as mainstream as it was during... say the '77 era, but it's still alive and kicking, you just need to know where to look...
Fixed. | |
You should use Last.FM to find new music. I love that site, Its opened up my music world to stuff I would never have found on my own.
Are The Dead Kennedys still making albums? They were an awesome punk band.
The Hold Steady do some great throwback Rock and Roll Also Steven VanZandt's Coolest Songs in the World compilations are great old fashioned rock from newer bands.
I'm very surprised no one has said anything about Tenacious D
Steal my ideas! How about Automatic Loveletter if you're looking for something that's a bit unknown.
I don't know if they're still making albums but they're definitely still touring.
Ok, if you want 2tone ska, try madness, specials, skatalites for 3rd wave stuff, less than jake, reel big fish, capdown (ska wars is a great song!), spunge, fandangle For ska - like bands, try Adequate Seven, King Prawn and Random hand. Not sure how easy it is to obtain these abroad mind.
1990 called, it turns out we didnt need to fear a black planet after all
Try this awesome thing, probably not the most usefull site on the internet but it certainly looks cool and innovates. Also, the thing that annoys be most about chart music isnt the style but rather the lack of meaning, i love songs that mean something, which is why Tool kick ass.
Well, some old rock bands are still playing(AC/DC, Judas Priest, Metallica). But rap and disney pop like Hannah Montana, and the Jonas Brothers continue to get undeserved commercial and critical acclaim.
well at least Rap is not as popular as it was a few years ago......
well, I know that AC/DC, Guns and Roses, Judast Priest, Motley Crue, Metallica, even Led Zepplin are all still releasing. but it just ain't the same.

Let me Start this by saying I live in America, and I miss music.
Second, the 60's, 70's, and 80's are over, and there aren't many bands left that play music like the "classic rock."
Now it seems, that the charts are dominated by annoying Pop Singers, Rap Artist, and Screamo.
I understand how amazing biased I am, but to me, Rap is the Herpes of the music world, and its spreading.
So, I have know, are there any good rock bands left; and if there aren't, there have to be a few alternative bands that are worth listening to. Maybe even some foreign bands, because Best Buy's selection is Shit.
You don't have to share my views on music, but this is more or less a cry for help.
