I know theres a whole list of things to consider before getting a tattoo, like what is it of, where on your body is it going,etc. But whats your general thought about tattoos? I thinking about getting one. So I thought I'd ask.

Got two, planning more. Most of my friends back home are immersed in tattoo culture (One of whom is actually a tattoo artist in training...) So short answer: yes. Just think long and hard about what your gonna have done. Laser removals can get expensive...

I think as long as your getting it for yourself and not just to be trendy its fine. Also, make sure you research the place you get it done. Tattoos are basically forever so dont cut corners when choosing where to get it.

Tattoo's on guys are badass, depending on girls can be really good or bad. Seriously hate tramp stamps.

I think they are generally stylish, but it depends what it's a picture of and where on your body it's located.

They can be really awesome, but usually I find people get something that is pretty lame or just doesn't work.

I wouldn't mind a tattoo, as long as it's something simple. When I see people with their arms done up like the Sistine chapel I wonder what kind of mentality you need to pay someone to stab you for a few hours to get something that'll look like crap when you start to wrinkle.

depends what it's a tattoo of and where it is. those people who have tattoos all over, no, but a symbol of something on a shoulder is good. i had a dream once that i had a ladder tattooed on my arm once.

Eh, it depends. The people that treat themselves like walking canvases and feel the need to cover every inch if their body in ink... I don't find them cool. I find it just a wee bit excessive.

A symbol or nice pattern somewhere can be pretty awesome. It depends what it is though.

I wouldn't really use the word cool to describe it, but yes, I do like tattoos. Most likely will get one this year, but my cynical part tells me the tattoo-artists in this little city are not up to the task...

I like tattoos in the same way I like mohawks, bald heads, huge beards and lots of spikes on your clothes.

That is, I wouldn't wear it myself, but it (can) looks really cool on "supporting characters". RL supporting characters, that is.

Well, depends on the Tattoo. I wouldn't say that all paintings are pretty, in the same vein.

Sometimes it's a work of art, and sometimes a waste of pretty skin.

I like them, but I tend to get a henna tattoo on holidays rather than a proper one. I wouldn't get a proper one until I've finished growing. Do tattoos break up if the person grows?

I need to get a tattoo soon though something elegant that I won't regret when I'm much older. Its s nice thing to have and carry with you and I have a good pain tolerance so yay sadomasochism

Tattoos are a pretty cool way of expressing yourself, unless you are getting one just to be a "badass".

As long as the tattoos don't cover 50% of the person's body then I find them cool. Something small can hold more meaning than a tattoo that covers the whole back.

My friend learnt that the hard way. The idiot got his girlfriends name tattoo'd onto his arm and she broke up with him over it.
The moral of this story; never get somebodies name tattoo'd onto you.

I like them generally but there are plenty of ways to ruin tattoos like
a)getting tribal tattoos despite not coming from an islander or similar background. You just look like a tosser

b)going overboard

c)getting a tattoo for the sake of it. At least give one some meaning.

I think it depends on the design and size of the tattoo and its location on the body. Small simple designs and symbols look great, especially on places like a shoulder or ankle. I personally dislike big, highly ornate tattoos that look, as someone upthread said, like the Sistine Chapel exploded.

I have seven and love every single one of them. if you see a design you like, go back to it 6mths - 1yr later and if you still like it, get it

Tattoos are really something that should have some personal meaning and be kept to one's self.
They aren't really subject to cool or not cool to me.
