Well shit... My search for good music has become a rant thread on the genres, so I if something really pisses you off about a music genre, put it here.
I personally hate Rap, Pop, Scremo, and most Techno
I personally hate rock, alternative rock, thrash(to a degree) anything sounding Disney(I'm looking at you Jonas Brothers) Nickleback and the like. Maybe because I don't listen to lyrics of English speaking music and those rely heavily on clean lyrics.
Rap can (this is really rare coming out of my mouth) be good if it doesn't involve big daddys-boys singing about how awful their neighborhood was and how they "worked their way to the top" by selling drugs. SERIOUSLY! If you ask me, ALL rappers are just a bunch of whiners that demands to be comforted by people buying their records or else they will bust a cap in our ass. It's really the same thing about emo-rock and such (Like Tokio Hotel and Blink 182) but in this case these bastards just "dont care" if anyone buys their records because they dont really care about anything in life. Of course people do and they get a truckload of cash every day. God I hate them.
Dammit! Songs like these are crimes against humanity. Not just for the lyrics, but because they always seem to come up with an awesome beat to drag down with them.
EDIT: And as for rap, most of it is crap, end of. There are, however, diamonds in the rough and when they turn up they kick some serious arse. Gangster's Paradise, anyone?

I know, the beat is always great but then the lyrics come in and it just dies. It makes me a sad panda :( Specially Poker face, lyrics best described as beating yourself to death starting with the ears, but the beat goes along nicely.

I like at least one song of every genre and yes i even love pop granted it is from the 80s or the occasional 90s pop song although the pop around at the moment is horrible.
I am not too interested in most metal and hardcore but not all of it is bad and i unederstand why people like metal.
I will make sure i point out exceptions as I believe almost every genre has its merits.
Alright lets get straight in there and say METAL. I hate 99% of metal. I just find it to be so pretentious. Exceptions: Theres a few good bands in most subgenres of metal, the standouts are Converge, Electric Wizard, Mastodon, Evoken and Nortt.
And now the list of other genres I hate: Schranz (same beat, same BPM, every track, no builds, no intros, nothing. arrrrgh) Exception: Manu Kenton. And only for the track Akira.
Happy Hardcore (It's NOT hardcore. It just sucks, candy ravers can go die) Exception: Scott Brown.
Post Rock (Stupidest name ever, even I find it boring and I listen to drone metal) Exception: GSY!BE can be OK when I'm trying to get to sleep.
RnB (NOT rythm and blues but RnB, the hideous warbling plague upon the chart. This is the one form of music that I don't even consider to be art, it's just a money making tool) Exception: Nope, I just can't do it, this genre is awful without exception.
I like old disney music like from the cartoon movies like Son of Man(Tarzan), Go the distance (Hercules) and others, also like Rock(in general not very big on knowing what genre is what)Techno, and inspirational songs that make you want to go punch something (read Eye of the Tiger) Disklike rap (some of it is bearable), Pop and RnB

For me, I just hate most songs today because there is nothing interesting about them, I can tolerate some of the metal bands though.
I hate Techno and Rap/Hip-Hop. I mean seriously man dressend in clothes 4 sizes to big, talking shit, know nothing about music. Thats not funny... I listen to some metal (but metal isn't what it used to be :( ) and old school hardcore punk. NOT that kiddy sell-out pop-punk.
and for all the guys that said emo let me tell you something what you call emo/emocore is just shit. the original emotional hardcore is hardcore
I believe that 95% of all music made is utter shite. But by that very token there is 5% in every single genre that is truly genius. You've just got to dig and anyone who dismisses techno is a bloody fool!
Music all sounds the same nowadays I can't distinguish one emo/pop band from another, they all dress and sound exactly the same. I love any new kind of sound but its rare to find many bands that are unique the only few I've found that are modernish are Voltaire and Electric six

Mainstream music is terrible. Dig a little deeper and find the not so well known bands. Lots are great.

I used to dismiss electronic music wholly, but I've started coming around to it. I don't listen to entirely electronic music, I like blends with different genres.

What makes me laugh is they all band techno under one roof. There are as many sub genres of dance as there are of metal. You wouldn't compare EMO to thrash metal and you could tell the difference between ska punk and 70's punk. But ignorant types can't tell the differnece between Jungle and electroclash or minimalist techno and hard house, even though they sound nothing like each other.
With all this said they'll still jump about to Prodigy Voodoo People (old skool rave) or Chemical Brothers Block Rocking Beats (Techno) while protesting their disgust lol.

I agree that some genres only have a couple good songs opposed to hundreds of bad ones but I think that depends which genre you prefer. I prefer rock but I find a few rap and dance songs to be quite cool, and I know people who are into hiphop with a passion but also like one or two Slipknot songs for example.
There are two basic kinds of music. Scale based music and rhythm based music. Rhythm based music is like rap, someone can say "Womanizer" without any change of voice pitch and construct a song based entirely off rhythm. Techno although majorly rhythm does scale the notes of the. Rap is the best example of rhythm based music. A lot of people hate rap because it theoretically takes no talent to create a beat. I can make one by smacking my pencil to the desk, but that doesn't stop it from being good dance music considering one dances to the rhythm and not to the scale of a song.
On the flip side scale music (e.g. guitar solos*, violin performances ,and piano sonnets) are theoretically more complex then their counter-parts. People would argue that rock music does have a beat but it is considerably more harder to find it in a guitar solo. (which is why you just head-bang because you can't think of anything better to do).
Most people are going to side with one or the other, and then blindly hate the other form. So I APPRECIATE all forms of music I just don't have to torture myself listening to sex noises in the background of a song.
*Except for Tom Morello I don't even want to classify whatever the hell he does.
