This sounds simple enough, in your own opinion what is the greatest ending to anything ever? It could be the ending to a series, movie, game, war, conversation, care bear fairy tale, anything.

For me it is the ending to RvB: Reconstruction, at the end of the epilogue every little loose end of the entire Red vs Blue series was tied up with the last 4 words, "Sincerely, Dr. Leonard Church"... BOOM kick to the face, you didn't see that coming, now go comment on it on Youtube or 4chan. And then Caboose was kneeling with Epsilon near Tex's body setting up a perfect cliff hanger for the next season. Oh boy am i getting worked up. Best. Ending. Ever.

Pirates of the Carribean: At Worlds End.

Just for the fact that it did end so I didn't have to watch that drivel any more. The other two were so good, so why was I constantly being metaphorically sick with rage whilst watching that shitbitch?

Yeah, that was hilarious. Although I think my favorite so far would have to be Halo 1, because there was a LOT of explosions.

Spoiler, I guess (since it's an ending, after all.)

The Shawshank Redemption, when Andy gets done taking hell from the Sisters, Hadley, and the Warden, "crawls through 500 yards of shit-smelling foulness and comes out clean on the other side," gets the money, and, eventually gets what he deserves: freedom and happiness. On top of that, Red gets out and finds him, and Hadley and the Warden got what they deserved, too.

I realize that this is contrived, but I still have very fond memories of the Sixth Sense. These days, that style of movie has been copied endlessly and no longer surprises me, but I gleefully remember my younger days and seeing that film with friends.

In the world of gaming, it would have to be reaching the end of Rainbow Six. I played that game on the hardest difficulty and finishing the game in that manner was considered a huge accomplishment. I suppose the journey was more of a reward then the ending.

I just finished the new Prince game and I thought the ending was amazing. It really evoked a lot of emotions, it was just amazing.

I wouldn't call it the best ending, but for its time, the ending to the original Onimusha was fucking righteous.

I hope you're not talking about the Epilogue.

Otherwise, I think I may have to revise my opinion about my best ending ever :D

MGS4, just when you thought he was dead, that son of a bitch big boss comes out of nowhere. And explains all the loose ends of what was left of the series.

All 3 of the Deus Ex endings, each one is good for different people. I chose the Tracer Tong ending because it highlighted the evils of capitalism.

I think a lot of people did. I did, my RA did (does every time he sees the end), the guys who are in the room I was in last year in my dorm did, etc.

Anyway, I liked the ending to "The Last Remnant." I thought it fit the game well.

EDIT: The good ending to the indy game "Eversion" is also awesome.

Great endings ey? Well there is this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voqmzuxGX4E&feature=related
and this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aCMRK_BRbw&feature=related

My favorite though is the ending to ET on the ATARI 2600! Just screwin' around. I was a bit touched by the ending to MGS3...

Fallout 3 was a disappointment in my opinion. They wasted a perfectly good story AND don't let us free roam once we finish it!

I agree with the OP about RvB: Reconstruction.

I thought they couldn't beat the previous Big Reaveal, I'm not afraid to admit that I have the Director's final monologue completely memorized. Fucking epic. Can't wait until the next series.

All they did was replace the squid with a nuclear bomb, it's not that big a deal

the ending of GTA:III when all you hear is the constant babble of the mob chick you saved, then the screen goes dark and all you hear is the firing of a shotgun and then silence. perfect way to end the game of a man of the mob

The end to Zelda OoT was awesome, Half Life was great the way the credits roll when the G man closes the door. I loved the end of Terminator 2. The end of Resident Evil 2 was great, the way there was different versions. The one were you blow up the mutated tyrant was the best.
