The Usual Suspects. I won't ruin it but...damn.

The Mist, that cheesy horror movie where at the end of the movie the main character, his son, and some old people he tagged up with ran out of gas trying to drive away from the mist monsters. They had a gun with enough bullets to kill all but one of them. So the dad character takes it shoots his son and the old people in the face. He freaks out and gets out of the car to go get eaten or w/e and a bunch of tanks and transports full of families drives by him. The movie sucked but the ending made me laugh.

I wholeheartedly agree. Extremely powerful.
I'm going to add, perhaps to the wrath of some: MGS: Twin Snakes and perhaps MGS:2.First time i've heard an ending monologue that made me think, even if it was somewhat shallow and repetitive upon reflection.

The ending to The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.

After all that horrible hardship and suffering everyone had to go through, the eucatastrophe happens- I've never felt more triumphant than when I saw Sauron's tower crumble and shatter...I know there's more after that, I love that as well.

The ending to the Original Star Wars is quite awesome as well- no words needed, just the wonderful music of John Williams (coupled with the annoying warbling of Chewbacca.....Darn wookies....).

Film: Dr Strangelove or Don't Look Now
Two of the greatest films ever made have two of the greatest endings.

Game: SotC or Earthworm Jim
Wouldn't want to spoil either but both awesome in entirely different ways.

Album: Revolver
Tomorrow Never Knows sounds like it was recorded tomorrow, incredible song.

Watchmen. It's going to be changed for the movie so prepare to scream, "rape" comic fans.

That could be a really disturbing sentence if taken out of context.

Dr. Strangelove had a kick ass ending, but the most punch to the face, amazing, depressing, edge of your seat, nail biting ending ever was the end of Sabbat Martyr, by Dan Abnett. I actually cried.

The best video game ending for me would have to be Dead Space.

The ending to Dragonheart. Just one of the most amazing incredible scenes I have ever seen. A close second would be the Dark Knight, that had an awesome ending.
as for game endings I think my winner has to be the end of the original Starcraft Protoss campaign. Tassadar's sacrifice was just awesome to watch. I also really like the ending to Castlevania: Curse of Darkness, and the music in the ending of Castlevania: Circle of the Moon was just great.

I personally love the end to COD:4

It shocked me into a state of awesome.

COD:4 had overall lots of those great moments, like the nuke and that ending.
more endings like that in FPS's

Thought the ending to House season 4 (?) where Wilsons dead girlfriend is in the bus with House, and then leaves the bus and wakes up. Such an emotional ending to such an amazing season.

I don't actually know. The closest I could remember would be the end to BSG remake season 1. Or just the mini series. Darn that was good.

Album wise and recently, the end to year zero. The last few moments of a survivor, now aware of all everyone has done, just before everything ends.

The ending of MGS4.
The end of the Harry Potter series.
The amazingly abrupt and funny end of Hellboy 2.

I haven't really seen an ending that completely satisfies me. I hope I will one day.

I'm not ashamed to admit it, I cried at this.

But I had taken a lot of drugs....

No, seriously... it made me weep like a young child with a skinned knee (on drugs)

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Cowboy Bebop yet.

Boondock Saints had a great ending too.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Mother 3 has an absolutely fantastic ending, the best I've ever seen in any video game, and better than most movies too.

--SPOILERS--

Kane & Lynch, you can choose to say that bitch you call a daughter, or you can save the only other likeable character, Lynch.

If you all hate me for saying that, I'll add another, Saints Row 2, flying a helicopter into a building, jumping out, shooting the baddie, flying away and watching your favourite psycho Gat killing cops for fun.

The ending of Castle Crashers made me laugh so hard my lung almost collapsed!

I know what you mean. I was on the phone with one of my good friends while I playing it. I was playing it with my best friend as well. Well we had the duel and he won it. So I was asll "blah blah blah whatever." Then I saw that. I couldn't breathe. My friend on the phone was wondering what the fuck happened. I just couldn't breathe for a few minutes.

That indeed was the greatest ending ever.

I do love the ending to an epic anything. But seriously in my mind, nothing can beat the ending to Portal. When the whole "ending" process begins (trying not to give spoilers), I was laughing my ass off constantly.

Really have to agree with you there. Never seen any other movies that measure up.

Also the book Timoleon Vieta Come Home by Dan Rhodes. It has a Lassie type story of a dog trying to get across Rome to its beloved master. Then, on the last page...
