i haven't played in about 2 years, but as far i remember my strategy was a few dozen useful cards, 3 folk medicines (my secret weapon), and a ton of crappy cards i strategicly sent directly the graveyard, then used my absurd amount of health to win
I thought this would be about Moist: Tasty Gateaux. I have been left wanting.
Kommando- Sorry, what's Folk Medicine do?--Wait, I'll just google it. Danny- I apologize about not accommodating you better. But you could pretend it is anyway and go on about Moist?
I played MTG in highschool (so, many years ago), but I had to give it up because there were just too many new sets released all the time. It just required too much money and effort to keep up that way. It's really too bad, if the frequency of new card releases had been three or four times lower I would have played it much longer, maybe even till this day! It's really a fun game.
it grants 1 health for every card in the graveyard
last time i was playing type 2 timespiral and umm the one before that where in the rotation played a dread return deck bringing out ma hellkites 4th turn watching my opponents cry
I used to play when i was younger, but no one around me plays anymore. Now i just play Magic Online, which is alot more convenient and easier to keep up with.
I used to play it back in the 90's, before they started printing the rules on the cards and decided to make them look like shit. I still have a mono blue steal deck, and a suicide black deck, but I never bothered to enter tournaments or whatnot. Mostly because I feel that the competitive side of the game is slightly absurd, with the whole aspect of buying a pre-made deck for a ridiculous amount of money just to use it for one "season", as it were.
Yeah, like Fightbulb I stopped buying the new cards, because I have no interest in this LOLZ ANIME look that they have had going (I know the new ones are "retro", but they still suck). The best 2 sets imo were the Invasion-PLaneshift-Apocalypse and Onslaught (because my main deck is a soldier deck :))-Legions-Scourge. /endrant
I like the random stuff that can pop up in this game and oddball ideas. Getting a deck to work that by all accounts shouldn't. I always dodge the common killer combo's or obvious theme decks and even if I use an oft played theme I try something different with it (my goblin deck works around gobbos with disadvantages and sacrifice abilities coupled with Death Spark and Goblin Grenade for example). My Troll deck (there's only about 7 Trolls released in all sets of Magic, no lords, just trolls and an assortment of red/green burn and boost) is my fave, but I've really got to rebuild that one, it's not up to par anymore. One thing that I didn't realise when I originally built the deck is that all trolls have regeneration, which makes for some interesting tactics (the synergy of regen and Close Quarters is surprisingly powerful). And secondly there's the deck I created for an Elder Dragon Highlander tourney that surprised me by actually doing something useful. EDH is a format where you create a 100 card deck with no more than 1 card of the same name (ie. all cards are restricted) and you have to choose a general who is a legendary creature and dictates what the possible mana symbols on any cards you use may be (this includes kicker or actiation-costs and the like). My deck is white/green/blue with Pheldagriff at the helm. Nevins: The all time killer cards still remain the ones of old (you can still put a Hypnotic Specter on the table and feel the anger flooding over you), but it seems like all races have become rather much like slivers in the way they share abilities and are synergetic in all kinds of ways. There's also loads of life link critters these days, which annoys the crap out of me, you used to have seperate cards to want some lifegain, now you can just put a 2/2 lifelink critter on the table for 2 mana.
Yeah, true that. Wellwisher was, until recently, my most hated card because of the insanity that it made happen (it was a 2 mana elf with the ability tap to gain X health, where X is the number of elves you control) Slivers deserve their retardedly good abilities because without them they suck. All these other races can perform quite well without them, and adding them has led to the merfolk madness that I talked about.
i used to play years ago, i had a white/blue deck and a black thrull deck. the thrull deck was a LOT of fun cause if ppl weren't careful you could easily over run them with thrulls tho i still say i missed unsummoning my friend's rabid wombat after he put 18720432904807870 enchants on it and made it powerful or using my preacher on it i did watch my friend do a 1 turn kill tho it was pretty awesome to see. he had cards from the alpha and beta decks and had some rather cool decks and combos including a few all relic decks
A favorite of mine has to be Minds/Enchant's desire... it gets really boring but it's cool to see go off once in a while. Another favorite is a snake deck I made during a draft with a combo of Jugan + Tornado Elemental, that's fun 11 damage straight through is alotta fun.
I played during the Ravinca Block which was an absolutely awesome set. I had a Dmir/Izzet deck that was based around nonstandard milling. PWNT for 5 mana, I take the top 20 cards off my opponents library. I also had a white deck that was based on buffing/equipping my creatures
I feel like talking about Magic the Gathering. First couple pages yielded no thread, so ta da.
Spoons-
What kind of decks do you play?
Do you have one favorite deck, or a bunch of them?
What do you think of particular cards, sets, combos, ect.
What rules do you use? (Tournament, legacy, extended, ect)
I personally play a non-tribal specific Legacy deck. Its green/white (Yeah, no Shards of Alara for me. I hate searching for land.) based mostly in pumping up epic creatures with life link, or general life gain.
