If your diety walked up to you and said to trust him about the following question, Do you want to know the exact moment you will die down to the second. Would you want to know or would you live in pure ignorance about it.

It is a scary thought that was asked by a teacher in class. I was Pondering and I know what I would do but what about you? The thought that you will die is scary enough but knowing your limit is even scarier.

I would like it if it was some thing more general like "you will live to see your second great grand child" or "you will live to see your son Married". Things to dont event see a specif year but what stage of life you will be in.

Hell yes. Then I'd be able to plan everything. So many people die at the worst moments, now I could make sure my family was going to be okay, maybe stab my boss a couple of days before my end, it would be great.

This is easily one of the most morbid threads I have seen on the forums.

No one likes facing their own mortality, it would be good to give you a time line of sorts to achieve those things in life you want to, but I think it would scare and depress me, especially as the day approached. I like to think that I live my life as full as I can so it does not matter if I know the day of my demise or not.

if you knew it down to the very last second imagine how horrible that would be talking to your family, saying your good byes knowing that you're going to snuff it in exactly ten minutes, or your last ten seconds, just thinking about it has almost brought a tear to my eye (take it easy on the poofter jokes guys) for me thats what i'd call 'forbidden knowledge'

Nah. I would probably feel compelled to put effort into doing things that don't matter at all...instead of just enjoying being alive.

I would love to know. There's so many things I want to do in life, but what if I die tomorrow? What if I die during my sixth year of college? Everything I've worked for would be gone. It's a shame that I don't know how long I have on this planet, but I have no other choice but to accept it and try to be the best person I can be. Early deaths related to accidents (car crashes are the most evident thing that comes to mind) are just terrible; everybody deserves a fair amount of time on this planet and because of idiots that decide to drive drunk that time is taken away from them. Why, just a week or so ago a woman who was pregnant with two twin girls died from some idiot who drove head on into her car. Unfortunately, the mother and her unborn babies died.

Ermm... may I ask how this would be possible? How would one define the 'time' at which you die (since time is relative)? If you are told that you will die at 12 noon, which clock is this according to? We need more data before we can make a proper decision!

Well if I want to get incredibly technical that would mean that fate exists and you'll survive everything else up until that point and time so i'd be going insane doing incredibly dangerous things, probably get into constant gunfights and murders... That would make a cool movie plot.

So If you Die in china and your american. The time you saw at the last clock in china is the time you die. Better hope The clock isnt early then.

And He is all powerful so he can avoid paradoxes like that since Time is subjective.

It would depend on how it would happen. If Death appeared and told me I would be hit by a car in exactly a month, I'd probably stay at home that day.

I would want to know, because my greatest fear of death is the uncertainty of how long I will actually live, how much I will accomplish and leave behind before I die. One great artistic work? Children? A world-altering legacy? Whether nothingness or something awaits me in the end, I can acheive as much as possible in the time alotted. That said, I'd probably need several drinks and about three weeks to recover...

For instance, at 20yrs old I know that my death will more than likely be within the next 100yrs. Using the algorithms designed by life-insurers, I could narrow this figure down a lot more. Most people could figure out an approximate 'date of death' if they really wanted to. The fact that most people don't kind of answers your poll.

I agree with him, by the way. If I knew when I was going to die then I'd be anticipating that moment with dread every second of my life. I most definitely would not want that.

Plus if he did then obviously a car would fly thru your house and run your cheating ass over. Death is one test you dont want to cheat!

I wouldn't like to know. It becomes a countdown to a day you are not looking forward to at all.
