Well...not much room for discussion. Maybe you could include a question that we may discuss in a merry fashion?
By people you mean devs right? One more though,
If you create a story that lets you choose to be good or evil, there better be an ending that is pure evil. (Dark side ending of KOTOR anyone?)
the word is spelt NEED | |
Contrary to popular belief, the cake is actually a spy.
Grammar is important, without it society would slowly erode.
Also realise that you have an irritating personality. Nobody likes you. If the only thing getting you through the day is the misconception that people like you, end it now.
w4t? i b3lie3v3 u is wr0ng sur. i f3el m0re intell1gent by the hour. If this is what people need to realize in general I got one. People will not worship you or even care if you have Linux so stop acting like they should.
Don't make a speak justifying you're kill, the narrative has done that before, just take the shot! Then you can go to you're wife and children who were not kidnapped by the bad guy that escaped - because you killed him instead of giving us exposition which lead to a needless sub-plot. k, I'm done.
Depends what you mean by dark and sullen. Are we talking Anakin Skywalker or are we going onto any form of negativity? I've personally always loved the "Been there, seen things, don't care anymore" characters, the grizzled and reluctant veterans, mainly because they allow for a bit more development and choice than most darker archetypes. EDIT: Almost forgot. People need to realize that just because the antagonist is the antagonist, doesn't mean he's Sir Badass, who sits atop his dark throne at Castle Awesomedoom, laughing maniacally as his glowing red eyes narrow to slits from beneath his black-iron helm. Even with evil antagonists, you could really come up with a better motivation for their actions than "Because I'm evil and I want to." Also, if the previous team's writing staff introduced a female character that has an interesting subplot and details intended to be exploited and built upon, you build on those points and keep uncovering more about her. You do not simply throw the last team's work aside and make her a tacked-on love interest. Case in point, Krystal. "What? She's from an unknown planet and her parents were killed? Ah, screw it, that's too hard. Let's just make her a telepathic sidekick that Fox falls for, providing a gateway to horrible fanfiction."
The Flying Spaghetti Monster Is The One And Only Real God.
ZOMG I MAEK COMMENTS ABOUT TROPES IN MEDIA HURRRRRR What discussion is there in this thread (other than obviously the fact that there is no discussion) and second http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HomePage
And "realise" doesn't have a "z" in it. And "colour" has a "U", right Nuke?
I'm talking somewhere between Anikin Skywalker and Cloud Strife.
World peace, All good ideas.
That linking people to Zeitgeist like the internet has never heard of it is really fucking annoying. "omgz 9/11 is a conspiracy! look at this movie called zeitgeist"
Were are mere minutes away from either a Porn Conspiracy or Conspiracy Porn. I'm not sure which is more awesome.
You are all going to die. By extension all debates of faith are irrelavent, because you will find out who's right sooner or later. You will also be dead and no-one wll be able to ask you.
Anyone who uses a "Deus Ex Machinae" needs to learn some creativity.
Robots will not stop to tell you that you will be deleted or provide any plot, they are programmed to kill you and must follow that out the instant they detect you.
That I agree with but I use a rule: One per franchise, changing the cast resets the clock.
Gut feeling is not suitable grounds for a police investigation. If you pull a gun on someone at close range they have a good chance to disarm you.
Sex scenes do NOT work in anything except romance or comedy films.
Good point. -Rather than making video games more like real life, maybe we need to make video games more like dreams. Dreams are usually much more interesting than real life. Real life is often boring (unless I'm at my martial arts class.) Realism in games is overrated-give me a game like Paprika. -Wisecracking protagonists in video games need to stop being made. Dante from DMC3 was the ONLY one of them I ever really liked. Game devs need to spend some of their Bloom Lighting budget on paying for some decent writing or voice work. -If you're going to put female characters into video games, don't have them be scantily-clad, generic "tough chicks with guns" or obnoxious Peach-esque rescuebait. Jade in Beyond Good and Evil is the quintessential example of how to do female characters in games. I actually don't mind playing as a female character at all in games, so long as I feel like I'm being a CHARACTER, not a Frederick's of Hollywood lingerie model.
The cake isn't funny anymore, Rick Rolling isn't funny anymore and 1337 sp35k is for people under the age of 10. (I'm looking at you, Gametrailers Forums.)
Bruce Campbell (sp?) > Everyone. The world is fucked. You are a part of the great mass, there's so little chance of you being "special" that it's sad. The majority of life isn't fun, it's work, and work that you hate. Things don't just happen, for instance finding a weapon, the only people who should live are those who came prepared. The only people who should survive a horror movie should be the 3 guys who holed up in an easily defended position with uzi's, the innocent girl should die easy as her lack of life experience makes her an easy target. Life/love/work/pick something else isn't fair. Fire makes everything better.
Playing hard to get doesn't make you hot or cute it just makes you incredible annoying. Blowing yourself up with 10 others or stabbing a simular number of people is not a good way to express yourself. (Exept if the victim is Miley Cyrus or some other disney channel-TWAT) I am fucking awesome.
Well, not really as the villain will almost always come back somehow and so it just shows your capable of killing someone :D. Unnecessary romances annoy me. If it adds to the story and/or character development in a meanful way then put it in. If not, don't!
What does 1337 actually mean? Is it supposed to represent a word?
People REALLY need to realize that Gordon Freeman is not a character, He's a camera with arms.
That hugs make the world go round.
Wrong! Stand in front of a reflective surface and he has a face. He's a realistic cyborg.
I mean he's not a character because he has no dialogue, selectable or otherwise. At least he's better than "FEAR dude" or Isaac from Dead Space though. Still, he started a bad trend of voiceless leads.
If you're pointing this at Batman, this has soooooo been done. The answer being anywhere between 'he won't act as judge, jury and executioner' and 'the death of his parents means that the very act of killing is abhorrent to him' and of course the classic 'he's not killing anyone by refusing to kill someone at his mercy, it is those who fail to keep him contained that are to be blamed'.
You mean he is Wall-E?! Lives are something that got chucked away for a reason and should never be allowed to return. I will stop you, nostalgic gamers!

- Adding a young, sassy sidekick to a dark character isn't so much humanizing as it is obnoxious and pathetic.
- Alucard is Dracula backwards. We get it. It's been done, quite literally, to death.
- While I like a strong female role as much as the next guy, women are just as human as men. It's okay for them to make mistakes.
- In a life threatening situation, should not go back for non-important trinkets. Another living creature yes; Lockets, stuffed animals, and pictures not so much.
- "If you kill me you'll be just like me" is a silly bad guy argument. 1) If I kill you you'll be dead, and I'll be alive and 2) If I let you live, you'll probably go on to do even MORE heinous things.
EDIT Yeah, I should really apologize for this thread. I just spent the last few days catching up on some of the movies from this year and just had to get some things off my chest. I wrote this in haste and didn't bother to check spelling.
Now then, discussion topic. What tropes (HUR.) in your opinion should cause someone to have their creativity license revoked?
