Alas, but it is not made from an actual controller, just a piece of metal, but it's fun because people come and push my buttons! |

BANNED Posts: 814 Joined: 23 Apr 2008 | Piercing needles are measured in gauges from 21 - downward corresponding to size, if I'm right. This thread made me recall a friend who tried to taper her ears past their 1 inch diameter... She succeeded for a while and was quite popular at parties where people would run the tube of a beer bong through her earlobe to be filled with malt liquor and whiskey for the poor bastard on the receiving end. This party trick quite literally fell apart when her overenthusiastic tapering made her stretched skin snap. Not like a tense elastic band - more the sound of wet cardboard being ripped. This left her with two bloodied and dangling pseudopods of flesh that jiggled around like nervous eels. I suggested she get tentacle suckers tattooed on the inside of her new limp lumps and she gave it serious thought, but ultimately decided to restore her mockery of an earlobe to a basic scar by cutting open the inside of both flaps and suturing them together to heal. Perhaps the icing on the cake is how people change over time - she lost the punk rock chic that accompanied her piercings and these days manages a tanning salon while sporting an artificially induced skin tone and makeup-hairstyle combo reminiscent of some gangooro offspring of Hilton/Anderson/Spears. When I see stupid people playing stupid videogames, I want to burn their consoles in front of them, then kick them outside in the sunshine to get some fresh air. See? Isn't needless sadism fun? Anyway, I've got an earring in my ear, and I'm not ashamed of it. Indeed, I think, and others have agreed with me, that it suits me. You guys should try going to Camden some day. I reckon at least half of you would die of heart attacks, going by the reactions here. |

You speak truth. Crude specifics notwithstanding, it's much easier and more rewarding to embrace degeneracy and mindless, atavistic hedonism than maintain a facade of normality behind closed doors. User was banned for: Ballad (?) of an ex-goth. (Permanent) |

Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 884 Joined: 19 Sep 2008 | Well I have a flesh-tunnel in my tragus, not my earlobe. It does look fucking awesome, and I've never seen/met anyone with the same thing. Those people who say it's disgusting/unmanly/faggish are just close-minded idiots who can't open their eyes to people who enjoy alternative cultures. Ironic as this is a gaming website. Also, calling a tunnel an earring is pretty ignorant and really irks me. |

BANNED Posts: 3780 Joined: 9 Sep 2008 | The only piercing I would ever have is a loop in the middle of my nose. The rest is just lame compared to that. As for earring, the streching ones make you look like a dumbass attention whore, but I had a friend who had a few simple silver loops in one of his ears (he made all the holes himself, while drunk :) ) and he looked really damn stylish. Like a genuine pirate :D. User was banned for: We are all related? a odd little theory. (Permanent) |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1771 Joined: 18 Nov 2008 | piercings on men = bad idea. e.g. Xerexes in 300 What is it with this ritualistic thing with making holes in the skin and inserting metallic objects, is it meant to ward off evil spirits or is it just a display thing to pathetically try to attract a mate before you end up dying alone in a pool of bitterness? ...nah, it's mainly to look cool...but usually backfires...I mean princess Albert was a pioneer but Victoria wasn't amused... |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2891 Joined: 6 Mar 2008 | I wear a silver stud in my left ear, I quite like it. I think pierced ears on men can look good, even guages (as long as they're not ridiculously huge). It's just a matter of it being tasteful - like usually gold or a daimond stud looks bad, but silver or white gold can be nice. And I'm surprised by the overwhelming negative reaction and closed-mindedness here... |

Copy Clerk Posts: 100 Joined: 7 Jan 2009 | Honestly, when my friend told me that he got his ears pierced I had a good laugh at his expense, and after that good laugh I got to thinking about it. He never seemed like the type of guy who would get his ears pierced. Eventually I saw them in person and they actually didn't look too horribly bad. I will concede that, while they don't look horrible, they just aren't my style. I'd say it's up to the individual, but be prepared for the pro's and con's. I know some girls who are into ear piercings on men and some who are completely turned off by it. To each his own I guess. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 854 Joined: 17 Sep 2008 | I usually follow this rule: if you have 1 earring and you are a man you are cool and trendy and you will get all the girls if you have 2 earrings and you are a man you are flamingly gay and only wear earrings because all your girlfriends wear them, honey. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 3310 Joined: 10 Oct 2008 | I have each ear pierced twice so I say it is okay as long as it looks good on the guy. And it does not always look good. It is like when some guys shave their head and look like a goober. Then some guys shave their head and look very good. Not all guys can pull off such things and still look good. But on the flip side I do agree that stretchers are gross and freaky look. They do not look good anyone in the world, not even tribal people prom Africa.
I have four and I am soooooooooo not gay. |
BANNED Posts: 1266 Joined: 19 Dec 2008 | I have two small hoop earrings in my left ear. I ususally attach a small angel wing to one of them (one winged angel...) and a small figure of Cait Sith to the other. I am not gay but have been described as probably the only guy who could get away with such a ensemble and not look like a total twat. Anyway spreaders terrify me ever since one of my gay coworkers told one of our dishhands who had those about a orgy he once participated in. One of the members had a set of those so for a joke they... Well you get the point. Any hole is a goal after all. User was banned for: Soldier rushes to defend post in pink boxers. (Permanent) |
Muckraker Posts: 248 Joined: 24 Dec 2008 | the whole "which ear is it in?" thing was started because gay guys wanted a way to be identifiable to each other and not be killed with sticks by the rest of the population. I wish I could say violent assault because of ear jewelry went out with Communist Witch-Hunts, and the McRib, but sadly such is not the case. However, these days it's not a huge deal for a dude to have anything pierced. It's not really my cup of tea but to each his own I guess. That said, there's one that continues to floor me. The king of all man-piercings; the prince albert. If you CHOSE to get a bolt through the c*ck than you are probably not a man to be messed with. |

If you're really desperate to stand out then surely a personalised tattoo is a little bit more exciting? I quite like low key piercings on girls but actual earrings I've never really seen the point in. Lip piercing I get. Its an important part of the body to eye up (trying to avoid being creepy). Similarly with nose and even naval piercings but ears? We'd probably look better as a species without them at all! |
Muckraker Posts: 330 Joined: 4 Sep 2008 | i have my right ear pierced, but its not guaged at all, just a regular piercing. frankly I see it as merely part of my look, no different from my hair cut, facial hair, or the clothing I'm wearing. its not a huge part of who I am, but I do like the way it looks. As far as the whole ear mutilation thing goes, im not bothered by the look, but to me it seems pretty permanent, which is sorta the opposite of what piercing is for. the great thing about most body piercing is that it will heal up if you want, so you dont have to be stuck with the look if you change your mind. |

I just did for fun of it really no real purpose. It was fun but then I kind of wanted my ears to look decent again which is why I went smaller. But all in all to each their own. You either like'em or don't. |

I've not got a problem with gay people, but i've not seen anyone with one that didn't look like they were. Specially those 'pretty boy' types. -edit- That CliffyB picture pretty much sums up the second point there. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 505 Joined: 6 Mar 2008 | I usually hate earrings on dudes, but as long as it's a small piercing then I guess it's not supposed to be such a big deal. It's more of a self esteem thing, you know, like girls and make-up, people wear this sort of stuff to boost their confidence. But big earrings are a no-no, I'm sure they'd look bad even on pirates... |
