No we can't. It's not gonna happen. EDIT: |

I think why its so much hatred WITHIN music is becuse people are drooling after drama, and they simply give it to them by writing songs about cutting themselves or others throats off. Pretty much this. Not only young people, but a lot of people in general. Music tends to be seen as an emotional outlet for most artists, a way for them to let off some steam and get some suffering off their chests. In turn, the consumer's looking for empowerment, and they tend to find that in songs or music they relate to. Or, if not necessarily songs to relate to, then at least songs that let them know that there are other people who are having it worse. |

Take that back! You take that back, man! Metal is not I repeat NOT a steaming pile of dung. You..you.. your face! sorry:( |
Paperboy Posts: 27 Joined: 30 Dec 2008 | Yes and no on the young people thing. After all, there's always that quote: "it's not that I'm old, your music really does suck". Music is a cultural expression, which seems like it's going to tend to divide people into tribes by gender, or by class, or by age, or some combination of the above (or other factors), probably because people like finding similar people and it seems to be human nature to fear and try to be separate from the unknown/"others". It's easy to say "damn kids and their insecure squabbling", but I think there's probably more to it than that. Humans like communities - look how we've built and used the internet - so my guess would be it's more of a general identification/tribe/human nature thing than just simply being a matter of music marketed to the young. If nothing else, I'm pretty sure Wayne Newton, Bing Crosby, Perry Como et al weren't particularly shooting for the 18-24 demographic. Edit: genre, gender, same thing, right? |

Ok, I accept your apology. I just don't see the appeal of having a teenager with too many peircings/middle-aged man trying to be a teenager with too many peircings screaming in my ear while having a seizure on a guitar. |

OK, you're right about that though, don't want that myself too, but not all metal is like that. |

And also angry stuff is easy to play aswell, take for instance Stricken by Disturbed, which is piss easy to pay on the guitar |

So if an artists live alone in a basement and cuts himself, what do you think the music will be like? Of course, it could be that the song sells, which is all the record companies care about. |

You mean you don't like Gangster culture. Hip Hop culture is different. |

Recently I have started sampling different types of music and tried to listen to a variety of different bands
The one thing though I have found with every single genre is there so much hatred within/towards it. Music is supposed to be an expression of emotions, not just hatred. So this lead me to think why is hatred the most common thing expressed in music.
I would like to hear some opinions why hatred has made so many songs and why there's so much hatred towards songs.
Note: Can we keep this flame free?
