Movie Villains

Who's your favorite villain or bad guy from a movie? Or, who do you think was the most evil/made the best villain? I think one of my favorites is Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) from the first Die Hard, but, Star Wars fanboy that I am, my favorite might be Darth Vader.

EDIT: Alternately, what villains would you like to see in the future? And which future villains are you excited about (i.e. the Riddler)?

That messed up cannibal kid from Sin City. Messed up.

Jack Nicholson's Joker.

WOOT!!!! first to say this, The Joker from The Dark Knight he was the greatest villian i have ever seen

The Riddler.

Technically, he's not a villain in the true scope of things, but I enjoyed the genious of the Jigsaw Killer.

Scorpio!
He'll sting you with his dreams of power and wealth!
Beware of Scorpio!
His twisted twin obsessions are his plot to rule the world
And his employees' health!
He'll welcome you into his lair
Like the nobleman welcomes his guest!
With free dental care and a stock plan that helps you invest!
But beware of his generous pensions
Plus three weeks paid vacation each year!
And on Fridays the lunchroom serves hot dogs and burgers and beers!
He loves German beer!

sephiroth in ff7 ac......what?

Hannibal, HAL, or Alex from A Clockwork Orange.
I've always liked the first 2, because in a way it's not their fault, which in my mind is the basis of a good villian; a reason to sympathize with them. (For those that don't know, Hannibal saw people eating his little sister in the middle of a war, and HAL had conflicting programming).

The character Alex, though, is a true masterpiece. I haven't read the book, but I'm going to assume the movie didn't stray too far in my description: He is a psychopath, addicted to rape and violence. He has no redeemable qualities and doesn't ever feel truly sorry for his victims (Which even includes his own gang when they try to stop him leading). The only way he comes close to feeling empathy is after some mental conditioning that makes him feel so sick he's crippled whenever he thinks about committing an act violence. Even then, since the people he keeps meeting are those he's assaulted earlier, you can't be sure he isn't just feeling sorry/scared for himself. The strangest thing is that most people I've talked to still manage to feel sorry for him, and want him to "win" in the end.

The Duke from Escape From New York

Hannibal is the ultimate one.

Hannibal Lector and HAL just like Pirate Pete said, as well as Daniel Plainview in There Will Be Blood.

Tim Curry in whatever role you want. He's done it all, gas monster, Lucifer, clown, pirate, whatever. Tim Curry wins.

F*** you all I think the Scarecrow was pretty kickass, at least hes better on the comic book, Long Halloween for the win.

Daniel Plainview, if he counts.

Besides his overall awesome craziness, he's got some very memorable lines. Especially the famous milkshake metaphor.

If you have a milkshake, and I have a milkshake, and I have a straw-See, here it is, watch it. And my straw reaches acroooooss the room, and starts to drink your milkshake... I drink your milkshake!

Hanibal Lector, Heath Ledger's Joker (I was never a big fan of the Batman movies before Begins and Dark Knight, so I didn't like the other incarnations of the joker) and Jimmy Serrano from Midnight Run, less because of the insanity (cause there is none) and more because he's a somewhat funny gangster.

Hannibal's a good one. I just rewatched Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal the other night and had to walk out of my friends house alone at 1 in the morning... extremely creepy.

heath leaders joker, he was very well done, and also i think darth vader, i dont really like star wars, but hes such an iconic villen.

Agreed, except I'm a huge Star Wars fan. But Heath Ledger's the Joker is my favorite villain for now with Vader in number 2.

Jimmy Fallon

Darth Vader, Freddy Krueger, Norman Bates, Verbal Kint, Alex DeLarge, all classics.

Goldfinger.

No dear viewer I expect you to DIEEE!

Hands down: Anton Chigurh. The Villain from 'No Country for Old Men'.

The worst villain I've seen in...well, ever. That scene where he's in the gas station talking to the old man...the most tense scene I've seen in a VERY long time.

Love that movie.

Ming the merciless.. c'mon the beard, the name! what the hell are you gonna do if someone told you a guy named ming the merciless was after you?

i would have to say Kim Jong Il (sorry if i spelled it wrong) in team america, such AWESOME solo's :P

Lupus.

Heath Ledger and the joker so god dam awsome, but im pretty sure theres a better villian thats slipped from my mind.

Dr. Zoetrope from Josh Kirby: Time Warrior (my pick for worst movies of all time are the Josh Kirby series and I've seen Troll 2, it doesn't even come close).
I also agree with Scorpio if by Scorpio you mean the killer from Dirty Harry.
Shredder is a pretty great villain primarily because of how shitty he is.
I can't discount all the villains from Aqua Teen Hunger Force colon Film for Theatres.
Favorite villain of all time though is the nations of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.

firstly, it's Heath Ledger.

Secondly, is it strange that I couldn't stop laughing when I saw your post count was 101 when you have a Vault-tec avatar.

Mr. Valentine:
sephiroth in ff7 ac......what?

Why not just 'sephiroth from ff7...'
I mean, I'm not trying to be mean, but have you played the game?

Buffalo Bill- "Silence of the Lambs"
Bruce the shark- "Jaws"
the hotel- "The Shining"
Annie Wilkes- "Misery"
Amon Goeth-"Schindlers List"
Norman Bates-"Psycho"
the Captain-"Cool Hand Luke"

Maybe because the thread is movie villains?
And I say: Pinhead (Hellraiser), The Operative (Serenity), Jack Torrance (The Shining), Jack Nicholson's Joker (Batman), The Room (1408), The French Soldier (Monty Python and the Holy Grail)

Wait, who's more evil, Jimmy Fallon or Lo Pan?

The Alien Queen (Aliens)
Colonel Kurtz (Apocalypse Now)
Jared Nomak (Blade II)
The Joker (The Dark Knight)
The Zombie Horde (Dawn of the Dead)
Stuntman Mike (Death Proof)
The Duke (Escape From New York)
Tyler Durden (Fight Club)
Jezebel (Jacob's Ladder)
Agent Smith (The Matrix)
Captain Vidal (Pan's Labyrinth)
The Predator/Yaut'ja (Predator)
Killian (The Running Man)
The Operative (Serenity)
Dr Soran (Star Trek Generations)
Darth Vader (Star Wars)
The Strangers (The Strangers)
Pinbacker (Sunshine)
The Terminator (Terminator)
Adam Sutler (V For Vendetta)
Luther (The Warriors)

trying not to go along with the crowd but watching the Joker in the dark knight was just mesmerising
