If they've been doing that all this time they'd have developed a form of ebola and unleashed it upon us by now or you're as twisted in the brain as a transistor coil. Freely adapted from Spider Jerusalem's rant against the alien religion dude in possibly the best issue of Transmetropolitan. |

if my alien you mean mexicans then yes, if by alien you mean beings from outerspace then no. |

Well yeah, of course, but they wouldn't be subverting the laws of physics to enter redneck ass cracks would they? |

Oh please list examples, either you have met aliens being stupid or you haven't met as many intelligent species as you think you have. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 92 Joined: 30 Apr 2008 | It's absurd - and rather arrogant - to assume that earth holds the only forms of life in the universe. (I almost said "intelligent life", then I remembered reality TV and couldn't keep a straight face) And it is possible that technologies and sciences we don't yet know about exist that permit travel from other planets to Earth. That said, I'm nowhere near convinced that what advanced alien societies really want is a farmer's colonoscopy. (To clarify, but in brackets and a bit down because it would kinda dilute the punchline otherwise, I'm convinced that there is intelligent life elsewhere in the universe; it's mathematically almost certain. But I'm still on the fence as to whether they've actually visited Earth. It would be nice, though, wouldn't it?) |

Sorry, I believe I'm missing your point. What are you asking that's to do with the thread? I'm simply saying that alien abductions aren't likely on the basis of it being pointless for the aliens. As for your general question: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faster_than_light_travel |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1824 Joined: 12 Jul 2008 | No. Reality is too boring for something like that to happen. |
Muckraker Posts: 256 Joined: 15 Jul 2008 | The trouble is that while we might like there to be aliens hoovering up the general populace, physics is a harsh mistress. To say that the possibility of alien abduction is borderline impossible is an understatement: imagine just what they'd have to do. Just my train of thought. To my shame, I seem to have responded more seriously than I planned. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1403 Joined: 14 Oct 2008 | I belive is visited by earth by E.T's, far too much proof to think other wise. But im not so sure about abductions... |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 759 Joined: 26 Jun 2008 | Well if you think about it on a larger scale, just in our modern era is about a spec on earth's history. Maybe aliens visited the earth when it was just molten rock and lava? But on the whole about recent claims I find it highly unlikely. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1231 Joined: 16 Dec 2008 | If they do happen then the aliens are smart enough to get the people no one will believe! |
Muckraker Posts: 314 Joined: 7 May 2008 | I live in New Mexico so yes. i believe in them. I mean people get dragged across the border all the time.....oh wait wait, wrong alien. Seriously though. with all the UFO activity reported here. it's hard not to |

Proof? |
Beat Writer Posts: 136 Joined: 14 Apr 2008 | I believe it could happen, conceivably. It may indeed have happened in the past, before Radar systems, satellite observation and automated missile defences started populating the Earth. Many cultures have obscure paintings/texts that record possible abductions, though it could be construed as something else. I'm pretty sure if an alien craft abducted some prehistoric man long ago, they would've concluded from their studies never to return to Earth. |

Well, Stonehenge for starters. You can tell it wasn't built by the locals, since the stones are arranged in a circle and EVERYONE knows that circles were invented by the ancient Greeks. So either the Greeks landed in early Britain and overcame the language barrier to teach them geometry (which the Britons then subsequently forgot) or aliens came down and erected the site to serve as a landing marker. Should be a no-brainer. |

Oh wait, you did that! You need to have a little bulk, and an actual topic, this could be a discussion, were it not for the fact that you just posted a sentence and the most fucking irritating word you could have said - Discuss.... Discuss. User was banned for: The Second Annual Escapist Election: Part 1: Presidential Primaries. (Permanent) |

It's because of alien abductions over all, not of any one particular event. |

In that case, just ask them their thoughts. That discuss is really getting to me. User was banned for: The Second Annual Escapist Election: Part 1: Presidential Primaries. (Permanent) |

Circles weren't invented by anyone. They are a shape. That's like saying that the Moon was invented by Copernicus. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 754 Joined: 2 Jul 2008 | I beleive aliens exist but I dont beleive they abduct people. Mainly cos you always get the dumbest people saying "I got ma butt probed and ma liver taken." |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 3954 Joined: 15 Jun 2008 | I think so, but I'm not certain - I am sure thee are some form of aliens out there though. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 460 Joined: 28 Aug 2008 | I voted No, Strongly. Although I would really like to see an alien, because that just looks like fun, too bad I don't believe there are any on Earth momentarilyy. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1097 Joined: 3 Apr 2008 | i do mildly because i swear on my life i THINK ive seen a UFO once or twice...first time a triangle with 6 lights up in the sky. the latest time a few years ago i saw a bright yellow circle flying real fast across the sky. This was when there was a storm going on so im not sure it it was a vehicle or something. |
Muckraker Posts: 242 Joined: 1 May 2008 | Heck, I don't believe in aliens, much less alien abductions. I just think it's a fun fad that people enjoy. Although it does make it fun to tune into George Noory's show on the radio. |
Muckraker Posts: 301 Joined: 20 Nov 2008 | one time i saw two people argue whether aliens came to earth in helicopters. one guy thought they did, while the other thought they were "too loud". ...that's all i have to say about alien encounters. |

Well there are plentyl of cases where pilots have to take emergency action to aviod colliding with ufos, there were 2 last year that managed to get in the papers, and many more before that. |
Paperboy Posts: 45 Joined: 6 Aug 2008 | But it's not just delusional hicks from the South, though. There are at least 400,000 reports of alien abduction; the rule of numbers indicate that they all can't be lying. |
Muckraker Posts: 301 Joined: 20 Nov 2008 | UFO stands for unidentified flying object. any time you see something in the sky and you can't tell what it is, that's a UFO. that's a far cry from an abduction or similar close encounter, and it definitely isn't proof. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1253 Joined: 4 Jul 2008 | I belive that abductions probably do happen, but you can never be compleatly sure unless you have pesonaly whitness it. As for UFO sightings, I belive in these 100%, I've seen some really weird stuff befor. sorry for the long post but(copy & pasted from my UFO sighting thread because I'm too lazy to retype it): Now I've always been pretty sceptical about the super-natural, but last night just after going hunting with my dad and a few freinds, while me, my dad, and friend were waiting for the other 2 to gte out of the woods and back to the car we started seeing some very weird lights traveling through the air high above the feild we were on the edge of. At first there was just one, way off in the distance, but within a minute it zig-zaged its way to just the end of the feild(the other end) that we were on and made its way starting and stoping in a very large circle around the general area. at the same time it would disapear and reapear at different times even though it was to bright to be blocked bye the clouds. I never really belived in UFO's, but this recent experience has made belive that there is something out there. So what do you guys think? This is a true story of what I saw Dec. 9th, around 10:30 pm. p.s. sorry if is hard to read, I suck at grammer. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 796 Joined: 28 Nov 2007 | Well, I can think of a number of plausible reasons why Aliens would do experiments on humans. I mean look at how people on earth have treated other groups of people they felt were inferior. Doctor Mengele is one example and then of course you have things like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unit_731 So basically if we had some life form with better technology out there that felt it was superior to us, it might want to use humans as stock for experiments they feel requires a sentinent subject. There may or may not be ethics about actually killing such subjects. Mentally I tend to pit the claims of the abductees, which seem absurd especially given who is usually doing the talking, against the goverment debunkers and such. I mean honestly the goverment raises more questions about this kind of thing than they put to rest, and then once in a while you get some goverment higher up coming out and flat out saying something about aliens and the goverment and demanding public disclosure himself. Of course then again all claims like "it would cause a panic!" about why the goverment would keep this kind of thing secret also seem absurd. I can't see any real viable motive for keeping this stuff secret. So really I'm right in the middle. It wouldn't surprise me either way, but it's not something I spend huge amounts of time thinking about. When it comes to the anal probing, I can see some investigative medical reasons why that might happen, but I tend to agree it does seem awfully freudian given some of the sources. >>>----Therumancer---> |

That brings the question: how would they get here? The distances are so vast, how would anyone get anywhere in the galaxy?
