All my fun stuff doesn't happen until later in the school year. I remember last summer, I went to help at a YMCA summer camp, and on my first day I met this girl and by lunchtime we were already hanging out and talking. Ya know 'talking'.

Well, this isn't a school story, but the first time I went to Air cadets (in September), I was instantly branded as "the Sea Cadet," because I used to be a sea cadet (yeah, really) and I "defected" over to Air cadets, as my sea cadet friend would say. Incase you can't tell there is some amount of inter-element competetition between sea, air , and army cadets.

I won't be able to shake that name until I graduate my glider course this summer.

They should have called you sea-man.

You sir, win the internet.
Staying on topic, Bard, do you have any good and/or embarassing first-day stories?
Keep in mind that anything you say will show up on G4L ;)

Yeah, I'm moving back to Cape Town to go back to University on January 26. The problem is that I'm 4 years out of high-school and so out of whack with concentrating and studying. Plus the kids who are fresh out of high school seem like a generation apart from me. At least my extra life experiences will give me an advantage.

My high school first days were relatively mundane. My final day of Grade 12 high school consisted of my final exam on history. I did so horribly on it that I was convinced that I would not only fail the exam, but the entire class. My teacher told the class to come see him after exams to see what their updated marks were, up until the exams. I got a piddly low 60-something. Despondent over my shitty marks, I headed to the bus home..... only to find out that the busses were long gone.

Overall, the year had been crap, both in terms of marks, and my social life. I dwelled upon everything that had happened up to that point in the 2.5 hours it took me to walk home.

Surprisingly, I found out on graduation day that I had passed. It was a 51, however, so it may very well have been one of those "You suck, but I feel pity for you, so I'm going to pass you" marks.

On my first day living in a college dorm I went to the bathroom late at night and heard a shower running. It was like, 1 AM so I thought somebody had left it on. Being the environmentally conscious guy I am I decided to go turn it off. I opened up the curtain to discover there was actually a girl showering in there .

Shit, man. That's got to suck. Wasn't there a door to the bathroom that she could have locked? If so, it's her fault for not locking the door.

Well, my first day of kindergarten i came with a patch on my left eye because 2 days before i got kicked by a horse in the face and had my nose broken, so that was definitely an entrance.

Was it a pirate eyepatch? 'Cause if so, that would have been sweet.

On my first day of the 13th grade my teacher said I should cover a song (he knew that I'm not bad when it comes to the guitar or vocals) so that everybody in the school department can hear it (~ 350 people). He said I should pick a nice song. I did. Kissing the Shadows by Children of Bodom.

Let's just say that most people didn't like it but it was a great cover.

Nah, it was a large communal bathroom that the whole floor shared. There were like, six showers and there's just a curtain in front of each of them. I agree the school should invest in doors to the shower especially since the dorms and bathrooms are co ed. Gave me a lot of unneeded stress my first week.
