Me I love bionicles. I think that the franchise has only gotten awesomer with each new release. The news are F***ING AWESOME!!!! The only real screw up was the Mahri installment.
I've noticed an almost requirement for weapons that can do some kind of damage to the face.

Also you know you're a hardcore bionicle fan when you can pronounce every bionicle name perfectly.

How about an option for not caring or for having grown out of toys years ago.

Even though people tell me that Bionicles are for kids, I still love them. Especially toa Lhikan and Kopaka

I used to love Bionicles but I sorta grew out of them. I have at least one from every series though. I also think the older ones were much better, back when they were more like toys, now they're just the same as an action figure.

I don't mind the movies they put on Cartoon Network sometimes.

Although I have grown out of them now and lost interest when I first enjoyed them I puchased the enire sets of the Bohrok and rahkshi to make a total of 4 giant bionicles.

Personally I've also grown out of them, too little time to spend with all the gaming I'm doing, but I think that they're really good. It's true that going so in depth and giving them movies and comics seems like a bit much to me, but I remember loving that when they first came out, so meh on that. But the toys themselves, Legos in general really, are among my favorite things because they really teach people creativity. The funnest thing ever is buying them all up so you can make everything, and then taking them apart to combine into some sort of super thing. I did that with each set. I've still got these two giant things made using one of each of the Bohrok (if I'm remembering how to spell that correctly that is) on my desk in my room. Though I'm wondering if this thing about the Bionicle includes the special transforming robot precursors to the Bionicle from the 90's. That's when I first picked them up. I think they were called Throwbots? They each had at least one arm that you could bend back to launch disks out of... I really loved those things.

They were cool until the fourth release. I think it was the Rasavi or something like that (waaay too lazy and uncaring to research right now). They completely ruined the story with that release. Since then, I have only shaken my head at the new releases.

I loved them until they released the short fire eldar bloke as a hero. Though I still have a soft spot for them.

I loved Bionicles. They were like LEGO for a "hip" audience. Or at least, it seemed that way to me as a kid. Anyway, me and a friend collected them and loved them to bits. What turned me off them, though, was when they started beating the dead horse with more and more obscure characters and reinventions of the series. Even in my young mind, I think I could tell it was going to be a waste of time getting any more than the first two series.
Ironically, I've gone back to loving LEGO; probably because it reminds me of being a kid...

Bad Lego Marketing.

What was wrong with just bricks and imagination?

oh yeah! Everyone loved those things at school. when we were all about nine. Having briefly glanced at the latest ones, they're crap. I always liked the way you could turn a little wheel and make the arm move, but now they hve guns which sort of makes them boring.

Hmmm, see i was lucky enough to be a wee scrap of a lad when this series of LEGO technic came out with the Robo Riders, and i thought they were fantastic. Then the Bionicles came out, which was a refreshing change from strange motor cycle-esque things with faces and then merged into bigger motor cycle-esque things to Robots from the sea who had to defend an island.
And then some other robot things.
And then some more.
And then more.
what annoyed me was that these things went from awesome motor cycles to awesome robots, and then never got off the robot thing. I know its bad for a company to throw away a winning formula (Square anyone?) but at least try and change it up a bit yeah?
So my verdict:
Original Robo Riders and Bionicles Awesome
Everything else since then: Crap

When you have a sibling, are a year old, and you want to play with the legos.

Which should not have the logo of Lego?

I utterly despise Bionicle.

I kinda lost interest around the second series. Do the new ones still have a backstory or is it just "black mass of technik parts attacks a city with the toa as it's guardian"?

They were great back when I was in Middle school, I thought they were the best thing that ever happened to legos, but I grew out of them, around the time they started releasing the bizarre movies and they were on they're like... 3rd version. I could see that it was getting old fast.

The first few were great but now it's gotten really bad. It looks like their going back to basics though (sand-theme guy came back) also, they brought back Pirates.
