actually, thats one of the few covers i can stand due to the well done haunting style of it. if i had to choose the worst cover of all time, i probably couldn't do it. the reason for this is that EVERYTHING by dj sammy angers me. good techno does not need to use covers. |

I like that cover, although it's not a patch on the original Any of the Tainted Love covers, especially the Marilyn Manson cover. And Kayne West, not only for ruining an awesome Daft Punk song, but now millions of kids think that Daft Punk ripped off Kayne, it makes me want to ram my foot up their collective arse and wear their colon as an ankle bracelet. |

Even though absolutely nothing can overcome the awesomeness of the original Fortunate Son, but DKM comes closer than most other groups. |

I honestly think their version of Ecstasy of Gold isn't bad. I prefer Ennio Morricone, but there's not too much wrong with it. Mostly, covers of Kraftwerk suck. I'm looking at you, Rammstein. |

It burns! It burrrrrnnnnss! It's worse than Barry Manilow's! When I first heard Girls Aloud and Sugababes cover Walk This Way, I literally stared at the TV, with my mouth open until it finished. It was awful. |

Some artists really need to understand that you shouldn't touch such songs. |

Also, if we're talking about any cover in general, the cover of 'Heart-Shaped Box' by Nirvana in Guitar Hero II. I'm OK with them mucking up Sweet Child O' Mine, it's Axl Rose, he gets kicked in the balls before he goes on stage. |

TO be fair Leonerd Cohens version is a bit crap, it to overblown you cannot hear the melody. |

Paperboy Posts: 14 Joined: 18 Jul 2008 | The latest UK Pop Idle tart's (I never bothered to learn her name) butchering of Hallelujah. Madonna's American Pie. Sheryl Crow's Sweet Child O' Mine. The list is nearly endless, but it's Hallelujah that has my priority right now. It finishes with a key change and a gospel choir, FFS. It's not a worshipful song, it's entirely the opposite. It's saying "gee, thanks for nothing, God" so singing it like you're praising him is not only stupid, but blasphemous! I know that these reality show people are merely puppets for the industry, but in this situation the producer is as much to blame as her, if not more. After all, he decided how to arrange it. There should be some kind of law where you don't get to cover a song if you don't understand what it's about. And if you try, you get beaten with a sock in a brick. |

Do they? I always knew them for their speed punk version of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow." Not bad, but I can see how their style got them booed out of PNC Park a few years ago. |

I like the beat actually. Also I think Depeche Mode did a great cover on Tainted Love really. I agree with you on Kanye West's Harder Better Faster Stronger, though, the asshole. |

Oh hell, this. I rarely get angry at covers because (a) I don't care that much and (b) sometimes it's nice to hear a different artist putting their own spin on a song. But this. When I heard this, I was actually shaking with rage. Simple rule, to any fuckwit artists out there who are considering such things: there are two songs you just don't touch: 'Hallelujah' and 'Imagine'. They've both already been done to absolute perfection and any attempt to cover them will result in a colossal failure. |

yeah i know a few songs that ppl don't realize are covers. another one that not a lot of ppl realize is a cover is Tainted Love by Soft Cell, it's actually a 60s soul tune as for bad covers NiN's cover of Dead Souls by Joy Division |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1086 Joined: 25 May 2008 | Honestly I don't like anyone who covers Nine Inch Nails. I'm cool with some of the remixes but their sound couldn't be done well by anyone else actually. That said I prefer NIN's original version of Hurt more than the one of Johnny Cash. |

Oh god, I just remembered that monstrosity.
As for this, well its interesting. It took an already bad song and made a new version that violated my ears. I like electronic music as well. Hell, I like electronic britney and this, this... Cover wise, I thing perhaps the only really good covers COF have ever done have been 'Fear of the Dark' (as it resolutely stayed true to the origional) and Heaven 11s 'Temptation'. Oh and the X factor 'thing' that reared its ugly head this year. Great, you managed to kill all that made the other versions good. |

dude, a dj on my local rock station played the original version and some dumb bitch called in asking why he would play such a terrible cover of an awsome VH song I just wanted to go find her and slap her upside the head Dont know if its been said yet but Maddona's cover of american pie is horrid |

I don't know, John Cale does, in my opinion, the best version of Hallelujah out there. |
Paperboy Posts: 39 Joined: 5 Jan 2009 | There's actually a series of albums called Punk goes(so far I heard 80s, 90s, metal, pop, and Crunk) which are truely terrible. All it is is a bunch of pop-punk bands covering classic songs. This leads to so many problems, such as some band I've never heard of playing "Breaking the law" with a terrible screaming voice and way too fast. It just offends me that a bunch of "Punk" bands who think it all started with Green Day have to cover someone else's masterpiece so badly to get even a little attention. I don't want to hear "Enter Sandman" with a whiney voice, or "the Beautiful Poeple" sung completly out of key. It's just sad. |

When I heard that Rockband had Iron Maiden's "Run to the Hills" on it, I was fucking pumped.
Then I played it at a friends house. I was sorely disappointed.
