I am a very lucky person. I'll list my fortunes later, but for now, I'd like to ask for your stories of close shaves and narrow misses.

Only stories of good fortune, please. Let's get some Escapism into these forums!

Anyway, here's a list of my good fortunes:

Those all seem like things caused by bad luck though... Does it really count when it's just not as bad as it coulda been?

Things tend to work out for me, and i have an uncanny ability to "Call" my luck, so when things don't go well for me I'm usually prepared. None of your kind of stuff though. My dog found and led my parents to me when I was freezing to death?

An ambulance once missed me by a hair.
Even if it had hit me I would have been lucky.

Edit:
I once went on a vacation to Austria with my grandparents when I was 3 years old.
We went hiking in the mountains and my grandfather was pulling me on a sled.
On the way down, he slipped on ice and let go of the rope.
I went down the hill fast, towards a ravine.
Our guide sprinted after me and managed to stop the sled about two meters from the edge.
Could have gone very bad.

One time in my room I stood up too fast and fainted, I'm geusing from where I was standing to when I woke up i just missed the corner of my desk. Another time I was up in the midle of the night sneaking around, I was only up for a drink and it was compleate darkness and out of nowhere I felt a sharp pain on my fore head, I had walked into the corner of a shelf and it hit me right above the eye, like an inch away, if I wasent crouching then I'd only have one eye right now. I think I'm pretty lucky besides.

Woah, thats lucky.
I was born with ITP(I could easily get internal bleedings and stuff, but I luckily didnt) that I got from mom, also got a blood poision and I had to spend the first 2 months of my life in the hospital they sticking needles in my foot almost twice I day to check my blood(mom told me I eventually got used to it and just stuck out my foot when they brought out the needles), but I had to keep going back there even after the two months. And I got two abscesses on the left side of my body they had to squeeze without anesthesia or anything(that mom also said was horrible becuse she had to hold me down so that I didnt move while I was screaming like mad). I couldnt eat properly by myself either.

Basiclly I was sick all the time when I was a baby, but now I pretty much never get sick, which is great! :)

So hows it like to be dead :D? In my life theres nothing really memorable but when I think of some of my mountain climbing. woaah.. That was way too close. I could have easily died there with a simple slip.

When I was only 3 weeks old I was very sick and I almost died because of it.

At least that's what my parents told me.

Strangely, no craving for brains...
Yeah, I've head some stories about that. We always wore harnesses, but the instructor told us some horror stories about slippery slopes and crumbling cliff faces.

Well yeah, if it's alive as opposed to dead. Or not crippled instead of crippled.

Because no-one can afford those cars! They cost so much!

Although that would be one hell of a way to go.

Also it would've turned you into street grease...if you sruvived he'd probably sue you into financial oblivion for wrecking his $1.5million car.

as for near death experiences...

On my third round of the "Croop" (chest infection thing) I almost suffocated because my airways closed up so much. Although aside from that I'm pretty durable.

I once faceplanted into a tiny silo full of glaciers and suffered brutal cuts right above my right eye and above my chin when I was a kid. Scars are still there.

Once I had surgery to remove a birth-old tumor from my head (left side). Left the balance nerve crippled but, unlike another individual who received an identical surgery, I didn't lose any IQ.

I was shot in the head by a BB gun. Nicked my skull less than an inch from my temple. Still hurt like hell. And the assholes who did it were never charged because they were 14.

I fell of a trampoline and landed on a sharp rock cutting a 2 1/2 inch gash in the back of my head. If it were 2 inches lower the rock would have cut and/or broke my neck.

I'm apparently doing something wrong...I don't remember ever having a near-death experience. Maybe mine was just so much more traumatic or unlucky than any of you guys' and amnesia/denial has blocked out that incident.

Yeah, I'll go with that...

Well, there were a couple of times.

My friends and I used to love going out into the local forest and try deliberately to get lost and find our way back, trekking through treacherous mountains (big rocks), thundering rivers (streams). It was mostly fun until, during the winter, a snowstorm hit. Cold and really lost, we winded up on the wrong exit out of the woods (granted, it was still suburbs). We trudged through a fucked-up blizzard and me and my best friend fainted a couple of time.

Another time, during the winter, we were sledding down one of the local hills when our sled flipped over a bump and sent us flying through the air and lying in the snow at the bottom of the hill. Just I was about to get up, an inflatable carrying at least three people ran over me, effectively flattening me into the ground.

Neither of these were really life-threatening (especially the second one), but they're as close as I can be.

Once lost control at the top of a mountain skiing when I was younger (8-10). I went over the edge onto a really steep area and froze with fear which crouching. Ahead of me was trees and if I dodged those I would just go off a ledge and off a cliff onto rocks below. So there I was out of control and gaining speed as I went soaring to what could have been a crushed skull. I see a woman jump out of my way infront of me and a man further down. The man quickly sped down and right into my path. He braced himself and I hit him full speed. BOOM! Yard sale, skies and poles everywhere. My ski instructer came up to me and saw me looking kind of dazed. She knew I was fine and just started laughing and saying how she wished she got it on video. I laugh as well and get up and collected my skies and poles as well as the other man's. I thanked him and he said he just knew he had to stop me and we skied off away from one another. Ski patrol caught up to us further down the hill and I yelled I was fine as I skied by them. Funny to think that a man I never knew saved my life and all I could do was say thanks :P

When i was 6, my older sister tripped me on a concrete patio, i should have had brain dmg, but i only have a skull fracture (My head hit a concrete step, the only step on our property). Then the older of my two younger brothers jumped on my neck when i was lying on a couch when i was 12, he almost broke my spine, and i couldn't hold my head straight for 2 months because the muscles in my neck were so swollen on one side.

After those events, all i could think was "Pope Poop"

I managed to step on a soccerball with both feet, lost my balance, did a 180 degree spin in the air and came down on my collar bone. Google it if you want to know how close to a broken neck that is.
