And with the internet being more popular than god himself, are we breeding a generation of kids so hooked on technology that they simply cannot survive by themselves? With the boom of video games, will today's youth become more violent? (Back in my day, games were 2D and innocent, oh how far we've come.) What will happen to today's technology dependent kids?

No and no.

I'm sure in the 1870's all the older folks were clammoring over that darn phonograph machine and how kids just don't appreciate listening to real music anymore.

It's typical and cliched for people to be condescending of younger generations.

When i was younger, way back in the 90s, we were too stupid to use the internet, and entertained ourselves using what we could find. My childhood consisted of a precious few things: Pokemon, Zelda, <ario, beanie babies, and baseball. This is all i have memories of, but what do the kids of the new generation have to grow up on? Pokemon has become a joke now, with all the new Pokemon there are, so that's out. Wow.

The angry old people aren't even old yet!

Everyone thinks their childhood was purer then the next, and that the next generation will be the spawn of demons. Yet somehow, we're still around.

Kids today have mommies that will buy anything that their cute little children want. Even 18+ video games and R rated movies! YAY!

I think I can entertain myself without technology, but its not as easy. Think about this when you were a kid, you said there was Pokemon,Zelda, Beany Babys and Mario. I think that it was alot easyer to entertain yourselves beacuse (No offence) there were less options (I was born in 94). Now with how many more options there is less of a need to "Entertain" ourselves.

The internet is an easy-access way to free information. If anything, it improves childrens(youths) ability of critical thinking and may assist in forming an independent viewpoint, by joining many, for the child.

The boom of videogames is nothing negative. It does only contribute to violent behaviour with the already mentally ill. In any case, no more than movies have made before it.

Also, breeding a generation hooked on technology is positive as technology helps us survive by ourself. In fact, humans would never survive without it. It is our strength.

If your time was my time(zelda and pokemon), you are young yourself and sat by a computer while you wrote this. Ironic, no? Games were 3D(barely) and God himself was not a celebrity nor technological breakthrough, and quite unfit to be compared to one. Americans thought Africa was a country, and europeans were pretty much the same they are now.

Please, show me the negative sides of internet. (Excluded: Shock sites and porn(if you are somehow scared of porn) because we all know that, and that's only 1/2 bad.)

Point is: The internet rocks. It raised me. Don't be dissin' my mama yo!

Castlevania? Rampage? Mortal Kombat?

It's not a joke to the new generation. In addition to games, modern child-targeted TV shows get bashed a lot for.. well, for sucking. But they probably won't see it that, and will bash the next wave of TV shows, as well as complaining of their

Kids growing up with violence won't make them violent, it'll just make them accustomed to it.

Internet's had a huge boom in the last ten years, yes. Why are you bashing it?

Only the ones that can afford to buy the newest thing on the market.

Hell, didn't you want the bloodiest game you saw when you were little?

This makes you one generation down from me, and your thoughts on the next generation are exactly what I think about your one. Every generation thinks they are superior to the next.

I doubt we've become TOTALLY dependent... Ok take away my electricity for a week and I'll start counting the dots on my wallpaper, but take it away for anything longer than that and I'll say: Heck it was good while it lasted. You'd be surprised how quickly people adapt when things go "tits up" and I'm sick of people saying video games are responsible for violence... I've been playing since I was a kid and I'm not violent. I'm sure the old wars and violent battles were also caused by video games, just the technology was destroyed after each one... The problem is the people who start confusing real life with the fake one, tho how things are going these days it's not hard to imagine. The major society always has been impressionable and stupid, if your 12 year old kid is starting to act weird after the GTA4 copy you bought him... it's not the game's fault.

Yep, you'd make a great father. Your son would probably murder you in your sleep though.

As long as he murders me successfully, he's a winner. I only get killed by winners.

"Kids these days..." arguments have been made since ancient Greece. Every generation thinks the following one is "losing it's way."

We actually have a point, though. Have you ever seen High School Musical? Why that putrid vomit ever gained popularity is beyond me.

Yes, it's much different from Grease!

"Highschool Musical's got a sequel!"

So does Grease.

Ugh, kids today have nothing. Have you seen the standard of children's TV these days? It's horrible! And I'm sure it's not just nostalgia talking. What are kids going to talk about in a conversation about what they watched as a child?

Grease >> High School Musical.

I'm not a huge fan of Grease, but it's at least decent. It was also a lot less popular.

A lot less popular? Not a chance.

Bugger. Exactly what I was going to say, except that you said it with more clarity.

Ding ding ding.

I'm already horrified that 6-7 year old kids are listening to techno instead of reading books.

But then again, I don't know more than 2-3 people in my age group that do enjoy something except for "new music" or drinking.

*sings* What's the matter with kids today...

Answer: Probably the same thing adults thought were wrong about your generation.

But seriously, I do notice how pushy kids are. I had a ten year old call me a 'faggot' a couple weeks ago because I bumped into him at a store. I'm not gay, but i was still offended, and told him that he shouldn't use that word. He then challenged me to a fight, and when I refused he then called me a 'pussy'. Hilariously his mom came and took him away around then, and the man at the nearby counter said "you see that woman? That's her fault."

I work for my college over the summer tutoring "economically disadvantaged," mostly inner-city kids (I'm from New Jersey so inner-city means Atlantic City/Philadelphia/NY). One thing I noticed is just that: kids are pushy and rude. Another thing is that they've got no attention span. I had to shut down all the computers in our classroom just to get them to pay attention, and they felt they had the god-given right to check their Facebooks every ten minutes. It was pretty unnerving and the death of the attention span is what really scares me about technology.
