i was recently on IMDB when i came across this lovely piece of work. Ah yes, it does feel refreshing that one of my favorite series of the 90's gets murdered by over the top Animations and androgynous angsty teens with magnetized hair and enough red bull passing through their system to even place the vehicles they drive into a state of cardiac arrest.they called it "Dragonball: Evolution", i call it "my wasted childhood(*as told by 20th century Fox)". after that quick glance of something that can't be called a "good" movie,or should qualify as a movie in general; i google searched until my fingers felt like a group of stalactites held together painfully by my nerves,i found a hearty grouping of youtube videos that made me want to do ...something or another, but i really made me ask these Questions:

a DB live action movie couldn't be any worse than the animated nonsense that was on television for like 4000 years. What an ugly ugly show. But I suppose that not liking a guys drawing style isn't enough to judge the whole thing on.

Yeah, I've never watched it, and won't begin to either, as, you know, it's a kids show. And I'm 18.

And I'm guessing the film will be aimed at kids too. Or it will try and pull an older crowd and fail.

Yes I want to see it but only because I want a good laugh.

I don't really want to see it, but I kinda want to, mainly because I expect Marsters to be damn good as Piccolo. Other than him, though, I expect it to be mediocre at best.

Making a live action film based on an anime is stupid. GTO was stupid and I'm sure DBZ is equally stupid. It never works out right, mostly because animation is entertaining partially because it's animation and some elements don't work in live action. In order to get around those elements, production studios change the characters, the plot, everything fans love about the series.

It's not worth abandoning the source material entirely to make a movie that only fans will go see being that fans will be disappointed with the result.

I was never really a fan of Dragonball to begin with, so this doesn't really appeal to me at all. I mean, I watched some DBZ when I was younger, but I got fed up with it needing 4 episodes to move the plot on even slightly.

If my memory serves, DBZ was shit and a live action movie would classify it as a cluster fuck.... So no.

Dragonball was a lot different than Dragonball Z, and one of the biggest things is that it wasn't retarded.

Piccolo isn't white in the movie.

Yamcha, Krillin and Tien don't make sense in the movie as they were introduced as characters in the anime sequentially as rivals to goku, and then fell into uselessness when Goku beat/got stronger than them. Thus they would essentialy have not much of a Part in the movie. That being said the original Anime took 120 episodes to even introduce Piccolo at all, so to get a movie made at all the entire story has to be fudged. It is the same thing when it comes to books/comics/tv/foreign/game adaptions that a story is never ever going to be similar to the source material. It isn't about being a continuation to or in the same universe but is to be treated as a seperate entity. Changes should be encouraged and accepted to allow for a good adaption, rather than to please the couple fans who don't care about good movies, and just want to see a word for word adaption.

The movie would have to be 3-4 hours long because it would take about 30-60 minutes for them to charge up their attacks....so epic fail.

From the trailer I saw it barely even resembles DragonBall, even in the, "skewed interpretation" sense.

Goku not being a monkey-boy and uncivilized = Not DB. That was what DB, was mostly about. Re-reading the manga atm, I certainly won't bother with this movie. Hell, even Uwe Boll can do better than that.

i'm not exactly a fan of the series so to me it's just another fighting film. i'll probably see it, though, but i won't have 'he doesn't look like him' and 'he wouldn't have done that' ect so i'll be able to enjoy it more rather than comparing it to the anime

This movie will be a train wreck of a train that was full of cow shit. Rotten Tomatoes will ream this movie for being one of the worst movies ever made with the exception of all the Uwe Boll movies.

Even if he was yellow, brown, or black, nothing change the fact, that this movie has NOTHING to do with Dragonball; the producers could easily change the film name, and characters/location/attack moves name, and we wouldn't even notice a single thing.

Didn't that "trailer" have random scenes from different movies? Hoax? Am I just confusing myself? What the hell is going on?!
