Excellent idea to not take maths, though that could come back to haunt you later on.

I'm doing Chemistry with a year in Japan at the University of Sheffield, myself. My barely-a-D at A-level Pure Maths (only because of a B at AS, I scored 16 out of 125 in Module 6) forced me to take remedial maths classes now. Not that I mind an easy extra credit for basic differential and integral calculus ...
Anyway, the chemistry bit is excellent, and my Japanese teacher rocks (he knows 6 foreign languages and is reasonably fluent in 3 of them). I just wish I'd see him more often than two hours every Monday.

First course was in Cybernetics/Computer Science at Reading University, never finished the final year due to serious medical circumstances, so ended up with an DipHE (About equiv. to an associates').

Chose the course primarily as it was computer science related, but with something that stood out from vanilla courses, plus I've always had a love for robotics.

After that I took a year off and I'm now at the University of Leicester, studying for an MChem in Pharmaceutical Chemistry (and 3 days away for exams :s)

It's not as fun as cyb, but I've always had a flair for chemistry.

I'm planning to go for a master in either French, Irish or English. Have to apply for university in about five weeks time, so it's about time I decide... I want to study languages because of my love for books, but I do try to install a game in French if it doesn't involve too much long sequences with dialogue and so forth. And I'll probably become a teacher in the future, but as a previous post shows; time will show.

I major in interactive multimedia, it's basically a course about the 3D modelling and scripting in games. quite good fun.

I clicked on the thread thinking "Either Sneak, Persuasion or Charisma" but apparently you didn't mean major SKILL..

If Life were Fallout 3: Then my loadout would be Science, and ummm...well really none of those fit.

i was going to do math but have been swayed by the computer science side, im torn between imperial and bristol at the moment (UK).

apparently the group project at the end of the 3rd year at bristol is to make a game, the only specification is that it has to be fun :)

I'm just wondering does anyone from Britain actually consider going to an American university?

Logistics with a minor in information mgmt. *high fives fellow business majors*
Just curious but it seems like the only Business majors here are U.S. students. Any foreign guys with finance/marketing/logistics majors/degrees?

Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery, not a double degree just called that because of the medicine/surgery rivalry.

Oh how it has, Maths was never my strong point and I really doubt I'll be taking physics to A2, but so far I seem to be coping at A/S.

Also, did you study Japanese at GCSE/A level before picking it up, I would assume you have but none of the secondary schools or colleges in my area(Brighton) are running it.

I am doing Landscape Design, haven't decided on a certificate or diploma yet. Was going to do Landscape Architecture until I found out that the average wage was thirty grand. I may still do it, though, after I finish college, and develop my business more to be able to spend money on frivolous courses.

I'm aiming for a major in Psychology and possibly minoring in Music, specifically choral though I'm not sure. I wouldn't say my love of games really influenced me that much... though I do like games that mess with your head to the extreme, even if the frighten me once and awhile :) I always thought composing music for video games would be pretty fun too; music and sounds really set the mood. If I watch a terrifying movie or game to Aqua or to songs from Mario it just wouldn't be the same...

Both Spanish and Evolutionary Biology. We'll see how throwing TWO degrees at a medical college admissions board works.

Im double majoring in Computer Applications Technology and Business Administration. Being a very non traditional student (Im 30 with a wife and 3 kids ages 11, 6, and 2 years), I chose to attend a 2 year college so as to get the degree out of the way and get a real job as fast as possible. Oh did I mention that my wife attends with me and we have the same majors, makes for a cheap and easy study buddy!

I'm living on campus, and I gotta say I really like it. Good accomidation, nice people about, and its such a beautiful place to live. Start of my second term here today :)

Yeah it is a beautiful place, the red brick buildings ruined it a bit for me though. Shame the weathers shit most of the time as well. Glad you're enjoying it.

Soon (in less than a year if all goes well) finished with my master degree in Astrophysics. And it is nice to see at least two other astrophysicists here on the Escapist.

What's Chemistry like at Sheffield.

I've briefly described it somewhere above, though I can elaborate: I'm only in my first year so far, but all the teachers I've had are very good at explaining things, though the head of department gets really annoyed if you miss practicals. One of my teachers shows a clip from some Hollywood movie with a ridiculously far-fetched connection to the current topic in every lecture (examples: "Use the Force, Luke" during the assault on the first Death Star, in a lecture about intermolecular forces; "Red rum! Red rum!" in a lecture on optical isomerism; the scene where one of the characters in Fight Club gets NaOH poured on his hand, in a lecture on basicity; etc). It's the high point of my week, unless there's a really cool practical. Speaking of which, be warned: On Sheffield's undergrad Chem course you will be expected to stay in the lab from 10 am to 4.45pm, with a 45-60 minute lunch break around 1.
A third-year student has informed me that those labs can heat up to over 28°C in the summer, and sweat in your eyelashes is not considered a valid excuse for removing your safety specs.

Also, did you study Japanese at GCSE/A level before picking it up, I would assume you have but none of the secondary schools or colleges in my area(Brighton) are running it.

Actually I didn't. I did however take a year and a half of the BA Japanese course at SOAS, University of London (widely regarded as the most intensive East Asian language course in Europe), after my A levels. Then my second major depressive episode convinced me I wasn't made for writing essays about fictional tenth-century playboys, and so I went back to my old love Chemistry instead, keeping the Japanese language aspect but ditching the cultural history classes.
Also, double woo! I did my A levels in Brighton as well, though probably not at the same school - I was at Bellerbys International College, shortly before they got the additional campus that's not on Cromwell Road. Haven't been back there since, which I really regret.

I forgot to say that I was studying at Georgetown.

Anyway, is anyone studying at a school outside of their home country?

My master's degrees were a master of arts in religion and a master of divinity in theology and apologetics. I'm hoping to start my Ph.D. or Th.D. soon, but haven't chosen an area of focus.

No. No one is doing that in the entire world.

Sorry. Seriously, though, I'm not, although I'll probably do study abroad at some point.

No need for sarcasm. Let me clarify, any escapists doing that and how are they liking it.

I'm a cinema major focusing on film studies and production. Not a bad thing if I do say so myself, but bloody difficult to get anywhere in. I might end up triple majoring in Business and Liberal Studies to make up for it. But hey, I love movies.
