I don't want to sound cocky, but I'm studying at the best medical university in my country :-) (Collegium Medicum of Jagiellonian University est. 1364) I guess I was lucky because I'm a total slacker.

I hope I make it trough the first year :P

Next year I'll be doing English Literature, History, Biology, Geography, Automotive Workshop and Mathematics. I hope to go into Writing or Journalism or Animation or Design or something of the sort. Keeping it (very) broad.

Classical literature and Civilisation. I suppose that's my major but its enough for both major and minor.

What kind of classical literature?

Anyway, I have a BA in history (major) and classical studies (minor) and I am currently finishing a master in history. I start writing my thesis in February on social cohesion and social trust in classical Athens. Should be a blast, spending 6 months reading and writing that. Or not.

BA in computer science, MA in game design

i wish i went for cognitive studies or psychology instead.

i chose computer science because i was hoping for an academic intro into games. programming just isn't me, however.

and so i focus heavily on game design and go into minute details about catering for and enhancing the player experience, as well as pondering to use games as an intellectual media for learning about important topics. not as in learning games, but rather complex lessons about ethics and consequences for actions. in the end, i want the player to open him or herself up to what's going on in the world; to make them think after playing, "wow, i actually learned something important from this".

I'm just wondering does anyone from Britain actually consider going to an American university?

Looked into overseas study. Even for one year in the States there's enormous amounts of red tape to get through (Immigration want proof you have all the money for your entire course, plus living expenses to hand in a single account). Shame really, because I always loved the concept of having the freedom to alter your course/major to play to your strengths.

I did look at Japan too (took some language modules in my first course) but they said it'd be impossible for me to pass, as they don't allow foreign students to use university labs.

Planning to get to the States for postgrad study or a job, if I get lucky.

Music performance.

I know, I know, it's crazy......Still, I'm hopeful.

WHat's you're instrument? I was a performance major as well (Clarinet, obviously), with a double in recording engineering.

Best of luck to you!

BS in Communications: Electronic Media. I was going for a BS in CIS, but then I realized that most of those jobs will soon be outsourced, much like my last job, so I might as well major in something that's useful.

Politics and International Relations at the University of Kent, and it hasn't really affected my gaming, more the other way round, as Fallout 3 and Far Cry 2 eat into time I should really be using to study.

I'm thinking about majoring in Broadcast Media, or maybe Creative Writing.

I did get an admission request from a college in Canada asking me if I was interested in a Creative Writing major. Which would be awesome by the way.

Integrated Studies.

It roughly translates as "whatever you can convince people of". In my case, it's Socioecology: the study of how social animals (humans included) effect and are effected by their environment.

Master in Bio-medical research. I suppose o chose it because of my love for science, particularly biology and chemistry. I find it interesting how the human body works and how I can blow stuff up (so says the inner child in me).

Not easily. About 9 months before going to university (well before final A2 (post-16) exams, let alone results) you have to apply to uni through a government system. You get 6 choices of course/uni maximum, after interviews etc. you can have a firm choice and a backup choice.

Once there, if you want to change course it needs to be done either a) within 2 weeks of starting, or b) within 2 weeks of a subsequent year (as long as the transfer is within department e.g. chemistry w/ forensic to 'straight' chem)).

There are other methods, but nearly all involve taking a year out, then re-entering at the first year of the new course, plus they'll try and revoke your student loan.

Everything's far too rigid here, but hey, that's what happens when the Gov't try and scale up the system to try and put 50% of the population through university.
