I am not saying there aren't a lot of bad video game intros, but you need a intro long enough and with enough stupid dialog to do a good MST3000 on. |

Yes, I believe their motto is "Making fun of games so you don't have to". Kind of the point really. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 2226 Joined: 5 Jan 2009 | i really hate the one that is at the end of all the ZP reviews nowadays. i do not find it funny at all, but thats just me. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1407 Joined: 16 Dec 2008 | Not funny, I've seen this type of thing on youtube, basicly a machinima for halo 3 cut scenes. |

Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 857 Joined: 24 Mar 2008 | I like the concept of Unskippable (replacing dialogue of current game cut scenes with humorous content) which is a clever approach to parody using machinma concepts. The execution is not up to snuff in my opinion, the fact that whatshisface acknowledged that point in his eternal sonata piece makes me believe that this is a fairly universal conclusion. Maybe it will improve, but I doubt I'll ever watch another episode, another thing that admission in the last show did was convince me he has no intention of trying to improve his acting / orating at all. If you're not prepared to respect your audience or your work, you can have it, but I'm not watching it. Seems liked enough by everyone else though, got enough responses to his last show. I might point out that there is also a place in the featured content forum to put comments like this. I've seen at least one other very similar thread get locked. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 645 Joined: 20 Mar 2008 | It's enjoyable, but it's not as good as some of the other features on the escapist. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 597 Joined: 27 Mar 2008 | Compared to the other stuff on the escapist (Zero Punctuation, Unforgotten Realms) it is much lower in quality and more about making fun of stupid things than wit. I want to see more of Doomsday Arcade. That has a great way of both subtly and un-subtly (is that even a word?) making gaming related humor and it reminds me a lot of one of my favourite Flash series Decline Of Video Gaming. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2583 Joined: 27 Sep 2008 | I like it. Possibly because it's the same sort of thing that I do on my second time through a game. But I could've just said that on the comments page where this stuff really belongs. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 2376 Joined: 29 Oct 2008 | I really dislike it to be honest. It's too straight forward and there are hundreds of better videos doing the same thing on YouTube. I would like it a lot more if the guys didn't sound so constantly depressed and if there was a little emotion behind the lines (excluding depression (unless it's necessary)). |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 592 Joined: 19 Nov 2008 | it's snarky. just like that space-theathre 3000 thingy, just people making snarky remarks over the movie(game). It's okay but the games they have picked so far don't appeal to me, so it kinda lessed the funny. At least with zp he makes bad games or games i don't like funny. sorry guys just the way I feel. |

Paperboy Posts: 46 Joined: 5 Dec 2008 | It's amusing, not anything spectacular btu I had a couple of good chuckles. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 96 Joined: 31 Dec 2008 | To be honest, Unskippable is like youtube voiceovers. No offense to the guys that made it, because even though there are the odd moments where you find yourself laughing, on the whole it doesn't seem like anything new. And...almost a bit immature. :S |
Anonymous Source Posts: 1 Joined: 13 Jan 2009 | I LOVE it! just kept me laughing through both ones, and the one from the contest was hillarious! :)) reminds me of those movies with funny commentary from the 80s. just brilliant, love the jokes! keep these guys here, them and zero punctuation are THE best. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1227 Joined: 18 Jun 2008 | Yes, but i'm concerned that it will run out of long game cutscenes to use. |
Beat Writer Posts: 137 Joined: 3 Jan 2009 | In my opinion Unskippable is good, but the quality of each episode really depends on the dialogue in the opening credits of the game they have chosen. The pilot episode was by far the best, but thats mostly because they had plenty of time to choose opening credits they could easily mock. Eternal Sonata, on the other hand, was a bad choice, and that really affected the quality of the episode. |

i think of it as a slightly humorous experience, nothing special but just something to pass the time in between the Zero Punctuation reviews
