Blind typing is more to refer to whether you are looking at the keyboard or not. I'll have to be fair, it's not actually called blind typing, and as you made up the term, you can define it as you see fit.

But suggesting that you are just not looking at the screen when transcribing does not really impress. It's a pretty standard feat. In fact, the typos for such a small amount of text suggest your typing skills need some work.

I would encourage more people to do that typo gag though, I don't think we've seen it quite enough on this thread.

I always blind type, it is just habit from touchtyping (spent several years in a laptop focused class at highschool). It makes little difference if my eyes are closed (like now) or if I'm looking at the screen. I's just habit, use the indents on the j and f keys to help line your hands up, then you're off. It's really just practice.

Get typing of the dead, that really helps with blind typing, you know... when monsters are chewing on your ass unless you type fast...

The previous text was typed with eyes closed.

You're referring to the yathzee review of fable 2. But it's not 100% right... It's supposed to be: Oh look he's a doggy, mash up his little face and call him chips.

I think I have earned 2 cookies now?

I am an expert at this. I don't type the normal way you're supposed to, with your hands in whatever certain place they're supposed to be, I just move my hands around the keyboard as need be. This would normally require me to be looking at the keyboard. But since I use computers so much, I've just about memorized the complete layout and dimensions of my keyboard so I can know what I'm hitting without looking. And when I do make a mistake I know it. I've typed just about all of this without looking. Sometimes I glance down if I don't have anything else to look at but still I'm pretty good.

I do the same thing, as a matter of fact, I am doing it right now. *Shrugs*

Blind typing is simple. In fact I just realized the only time I ever look at the keyboard is in games and that just now is the only time I looked at the keyboard to type and it's harder looking at it.

Blind writing aint hard once you have spend a lot of time staring at the screen of a computer and learned to maximise your effectiveness by not looking at the keyboard.

Okay here I go starting from now...

I never really tried typing blind before, but i can imagine that it's pretty atrocious. There was once a man from canada, abd ge saud a word that rhymed wwith canada, The end.

Damn, I really suck. I had in the beginning, I think because at the the end I didn't know what I was going to say. Lemme try again, I am now going to recite lyrics from some of my favorites songs...

I know your eyes in the morning sun
I feel you touch me in the pouring rain
And the moment taht you wander far from me
I wanna feel you in my arms again
And you come to me on a summer breeze
Keep me warm in your arms then you softly leave
Ad it's me you need to show

Gow deep is your love
How deep is you love, How deep ius your love
I really mean to learn
And we're leving in a world of fools
Vreaking us down, and and they all should lety us be
We nelongh to you and me

Much better =)

I write pretty much everything i write on a computer without actually looking at what i have written, largely i know when i've mistyped something and that is slightly more scary when you think about it... actually going back and correcting mistakes that you know you've made.

I've actually written this entire post staring at the ceiling.

I did that test a while back adn i was chucking out about 85 words per minute which is pretty quick, and i just learned to touch type after basically typing way too much stuff on msn.

muscle memory ftw, although this is my work keyboard, so it's more compact than the one I have at home.

(typed blind I might add)

Sir, I would just like to say, that blind typing is a very interesting phenomenon amongst the people of this world. And for some reason, I can do it very well. Actually, I'm blind typing right now. No looking and everything. My fingers are moving quickly over the keys, but I still do not look. I think I may have memorised my keyboard layout. <--- That was typed with my eyes closed.

As I can see I am not the only one that can do that....I, to, am typing with my eyes shut right now and I have a feeling I am doing very well. This is what I get for typing way to much >.<. Oh well I guess it comes in handy while writing reports or essays, or stuff like that. You don't constantly have to be looking at the keyboard. <------Was typed with my eyes closed.

EDIT

I love how you made no mistakes while blind typing, but accidentally misspelled blind when you were looking. I'm not making fun of you, I just found it amusing.

I agree, seeing all the words on the keyboard seems to jumble my mental process. Looking at what I'm typing (for instance, if I'm typing what I'm reading from a piece of paper) is the easiest.

I can write without looking at the keyboard pretty good, but I sometimes press the wrong buttons.

*looks down*

Holy shit! I did it right!
So yeah, I can (blind) type.
My trick is that I don't raise my hands very much, and I can sense and feel where what button is with my fingers.
And I sometimes just write on a regular table etc, so that helps too.

Damnit, just to be sure.

*closes eyes*

DId I do it? DiID I?! I hope I did it, because if I didn't, I'm going to be pissed at myself for sucking so much.

Damn! I'm just too good.

I can type blind really easily. I can even tell when I made a mistake. But I still slow down when I type society. Seriously, try typing that fast. I typed all of that blind.

Blind typing is hilarious, in classes (me being the nerd), people ask me lots of questions.
And when they do, and I'm on a computer, I look at them, and continue typing.
While listening to their question, thinking about the questions, and helping them out (if possible), I'm always typing.
I guess its a bit arrogant, but not one error!
Once a friend just asked for help, I looked at him, and we just stared for the remainder of the period (15 minutes), talking about random stuff, and I continued typing that whole time.
And made one error! Stupid capital A on Australia...

All blind... typed? Typen? Type?
Whatever

This first part is me typing just looking at the screen and not the keyboard.

Typing blind on the pther hand is a bit more interesting. Thats whay I am doin now. I hope it turms out ok....

(This is normal typing) Wow. I'm surprised. Hehe. I guess I spend too much time on the internet....

Slightly off topic, but I've recently noticed how well I am able to come up with different ways to say things when running (in a game) and my 'wasd' keys are being used. (Other than usinng the actual arrow keys, coz that means typing with my left hand, and being a righty, that poses a bit of a problem for me, coz without my right hand doing 3/4 of the typing, my left hand gets all confused and decides to flop around uselessly, resulting an what looks like me banging my head on the keyboard and hitting send.)

This is my typing "blind" or having no eyes on the keyboard. As you can probablty tell, my typing should be nearly error-free... I hope. :D

Well, damn. I put a "t" in "probably."
