Where do my fellow escapists acquire their news?

Al-Jazeerah or the local news. Although One News will never be the same without the wonder that was Judy Bailey. I still have Documentary Channel, I guess.

I don't mind any other news source, but god help you if you watch Fox News. I want to remove Geraldo's moustache and strangle him with it.

I get my news from a combo of places, CNN, ABC, NBC, FOX (only for local news), and occasionally BBC America. you can't take the word of any one of them as the absolute truth so I find it best to take a look at the general consensus of all the news networks.

I don't care about news, I occasionally learn things through my local newspaper.

I usually look online, on the BBC RSS Feed that comes with Mozilla Firefox.

On TV...CNN usually, but they're an American large news network, therefore pretty pro-Israeli, and right now I just want to hear what is happening. But for everything else, especially politics.

I hate Fox.

The News Room, a couple of forums down.

Regular news isn't interesting, I don't like hearing constantly about rapes and murders, or what's new in fashion.

CBC and BBC, mostly. Occasionally I read the Vancouver Sun but that's only because it's more common here than the Globe and Mail, which I far prefer. As a communications major, I know better than to trust any of them (particularly the Vancouver Sun), but at least they're not as bad as television news or nearly any American news source other than NPR.

call me strange but I barely see a difference between fox and all the other major news outlets. They all seem to run the same stupid fluff stories that have no actual importance to anything and when they do talk about something important it is usually spewing out of the idiot section ie bill o'reilly or Nancy grace.

I actually just absorb news when my father watches... no preferences really for international or nation news.

I like to watch and read CNN everyday, in addition to reading the newspaper.

A mixture of Stephan Colbert, Friends, and CNN

EDIT: Friends as in friends from school and such, not the TV show

I watch the first half hour of the Today show in the morning (you know, the part where they do actual news).

But other than that, INTERNETS AHOY!

I usually flick between the 24hour Sky and BBC channels, to get the full story.

As a matter of interest, what is the giant beef with Fox news? I've heard it being ripped off it hundreds of places, but as a non-American I have never watched it.

Many places! I read headlines of most newspapers around here, and articles of The Georgia Straight. I also read the websites of CBC, BBC, and Al Jazeera, occasionally checking out BAGNewsNotes. I'm on the emailing lists of three liberal groups who like sending me information. I also watch CBC News, BBC World News, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Countdown with Keith Olbermann, and rarely CTV and Global news when I feel like vomiting.

Purps says I keep pretty up-to-date.

I read three newspapers a day, small circ local, large circ local, and national. My car radio is always tuned to NPR, and watch BBC and CNN religiously. Also my editors, colleagues and my own two eyes. I'm a journalist, and frankly a bit bothered(worried) that you categorized the entire Print world as other. Don't know how you could have done it otherwise, but as the layoffs get closer to my desk I get more paranoid.

ps- to all of those who said their newspapers, I love you people

I normally go on Yahoo, as they have all the headlines and stuff on their front page.

BBC and CNN mostly. Though occasionally I read some stories from Saint Petersburg Times (Russia) and the occasional Pravda article and sometimes whatever weirdness is spilling out of the PRC News Corps.

On the rare occurance that I actually want to know about something about the world, I'm assuming you mean news to do with current events and such not news about technology, I will listen to a BBC world podcast. I have listen to 1 podcast so far. Other than that I may scan over the local or national rag.

fox "news" may be evil, but youve gotta admit, geraldo has some awesome sunglasses. generally though i trust different people on different things. the escapist is pretty good for what they cover, the daily show is generally OK, as is the colbert report... but there is no single source, theyre all lying bastards. except for fox of course, theyre in a league of their own.

I usually lock onto a story, and just read as much as I can; blogs, newspapers, websites and such. I don't pretend I listen to both sides, anyone who says that is usually full of horseshit and tries to look smart. I just read something, make an opinion, then keep reading to see how it holds up to what develops out of it.

Mostly local news. Lithuanian Morning, Vilnius Day, 15 Minutes. I also watch TV3 and LNK news. I sometimes check all other news sources, except for the BBC. They're red evil.

I watch cnn for the most part because canadian news bores the shit out of me and it is the only full 24 news network I get besides canadian news.

Do not confuse the normal CNN channel with it's affiliate CNN Headline news, this is a channel soley dedicated to the Caylee Anthoney Case, a case that normal people shouldn't give a damn about, fucking disgusting with its head figure, Nancy "The Bitch" Grace.

Nancy Grace?! you think that bitch reports anything worth a damn? Have you SEEN her show? All about one missing little white kid or a celebrity death.
