There are many stupid things in life. Wearing two watches is not one of them.

Sorry, yes it is. Pick one and wear that one only. If your feeling adventurous you could switch off day to day. Then again you might not want to take watch etiquette lessons from the guy who wears his watch on his right hand.

What's wrong with that? Although, I wear my watch on my left hand, so what?

It doesn't matter what hand its just your opposite hand, so when your writing or working with a hammer or something you can still check the time. Most people are just right handed that's all.

As long as they're not on the same arm.

I once knew someone with about 6 watches all going up their forearm. Each was set to a different time zone.

one day but this is only the only beginning

You should do anything you damn well want and let no-one tell you otherwise. Seriously, etiquette be damned.

Well...

Pros and Cons of Wearing Two Watches Simultaneously

PROS:

  • Ability to average both displayed times and have time-keeping accuracy to half of a second.
  • +2
  • Bling factor.
  • +1

CONS:

  • Get weird looks all the time.
  • -1
  • Have either two awkwardly encumbered hands or one very awkwardly encumbered hand.
  • -2
  • People will ask why you wear two watches, which will inevitably lead to you having to explain the whole situation to multiple people.
  • -2

OVERALL:
The whole situation nets a social demeanor of -2. Could be pulled off with a very suave attitude (+2) or having an workplace-renowned quirky attitude (negates social quirk of user's choice).

LOL the mini review is awesome

take a close look at anyone who wears a watch, 95% at least wear it on their left hand. It's proper etiquette too, don't ask according to whom but I know it is because I've been told so by a few different people. I chalk it up to another one of my odd Italian mannerisms like not switching hands when I use a fork, that's another one that most people don't realize they do.

I think it is slightly less then that seeing as about 1/9 of the population is left handed and all the left handed people I know (okay thats just 3 but still...) wear the watch on their right hand. And thats not including the right handed people who do it.

Yeah, dude, that particular fashion statement won't calculate to impress anyone. Choose a watch or switch them out, but wearing two is odd. And that's me being nice.

Well, if they were set to different timezones, it'd be kinda fun. When people ask you what time it is, you could say, "I don't know, but it's 11:52 in Moscow."

Hrm. Thanks for the new wardrobe ideas.

Why Moscow? Are you a Communist? *squinty glare*

No. You obviously don't comprehend the mechanics of long-distance espionage.

Yes well.

[blah blah blah boring on-topic stuff.]

Hmmmmm...okay! I believe you unconditionally. Would you like our nuclear launch codes?

CrafterMan:
Hahaha its different my friend.

I won't judge you for it, as long as you're comfortable.

Different is wrong! Burn the nonbeliever!

You can use the other watch to tell time in another country.

See? It's not that hard to come up with a purpose for a secondary clock.

Only if:

1) Second one shows time in a different time zone.
2) is binary and you need help quickly reading it.

I don't think wearing two watches is a good idea especially not on the same wrist. One on each might be amusing but i wouldn't recommend it.

On the whole wearing the watch on your off hand debate, it does make sense to wear your watch on the hand you don't use for most tasks as you can check the time easily in mid flow as it were. I don't know of any etiquette which states you should wear it on your left. What i do know though is that when you look at a regular watch, one that isn't digital, the dial that you turn is nearly always on the right side directly alongside the 3 on the clock face. If you were to wear the watch on your right wrist it would be difficult to adjust your watch without some strange sort of crossover arm technique so maybe its just a matter of being practical.

Well ya... unless you use both of them for some kind of interesting reason of calculation or you wear a mask and a cape and your nickname has the words Time/Man somewhere in it...

Wear two watches, it's cool. If someone asks you why say the other watch is set to a different time zone.

"The watch on my left hand is set to Pacific Standard Time....The watch on my right hand is set to Hammer Time!".

"What? Why"

"Because it's always Hammer Time when I'm around"

See, nothing could be cooler.

I wouldn't necessarily say that it is stupid to have both watches with you, but wearing both of them at the same time is. Generally, when I get a new watch, I decide which one I'd rather wear and then keep the other one put up in case the other breaks.

On the subject of left vs. right hand, I'm right handed and wear mine on the right. I probably do this only because no one ever said to me early on that it was the the wrong side. I've tried wearing it on my left side and it is just too uncomfortable. The only problems I've encountered when wearing them like this is that I have to take it off to reset it if something happens to it.

Yep, it's pretty daft. But now you have two watches. Depending on the style, you could have one everyday watch and one just for dates and the like, where a nice shiny watch would complete your look.

I'm left handed so I wear my watch on the right. It's just easier for me that way. I haven't ever thought about it before, it was just the natural choice.

That's perfect. If people have a reason to ask you a question, you'll have more connections because you talk to more people. It's definitely not a -2 but a +2, but only if you are confident enough. If you can't deal take the blow of the occasional good critique (most will be lame anyways), then you shouldn't.

Actually in other words: it's stylish because it's stupid. You can invent stories how one is set to thai time because of a business that you own their or are waiting for the release of that new japanese game and want to get online the very second. If you are crazier than your watches, it will probably work wonders for you.

I just got a new watch as a gift but I already have a watch so I decided to wear both and I`m just wondering is it stupid?

Wear both watches until you realise it's stupid. Then you will have your answer and you've decided for yourself.

I wear my watch on the left wrist because I'm right handed and it's easier to work the clasp with my right hand.

Funnily enough the same thing happened to me. I got a new watch for Christmas, I immediately swapped my old for the new and put my old one in my coat pocket (don't ask). When I was drunk at the pub last night I decided to put the old one on too so that I had two on. It annoyed me after about 5 minutes because I have boney wrists so it caused one watch to point out at a strange angle because it wasn't where I usually wear my watch.

My friends thought it was weird, but to each their own - if it doesn't annoy you like it did me then go for it.

Back in the 80s, it was in fashion to wear a stack of Swatch watches up your arm. I knew a girl who not only did that, she put another one around her ankle.

So it's a little weird, but who cares? If you enjoy wearing them both, just go ahead and do it.

Why not wear diferent watches on different days?
Or am I being too obvious here?

well, its fucking retarded... on the part of whoever bought the second watch for you, thats just a bad gift unless its a REALLY awesome watch. then you should just wear that one. you could just wear one depending on who your around (so noone gets their feelings hurt) or you could just TELL them.

then again escapist editor lady has a point, looking insane is often considered cool. and it doesnt ALWAYS look horrible.

I would just keep using the older one until it broke/I lost it. Then wear the new one. Or you could make use of both watches at the same time.

Guy A: Hey, what time is it?
Guy B: It's (*crosses arms, looks at left watch*) 6... (*maintains arm cross, looks at right watch*) 42.

Or make up some other retardiculous crazy shit.

    On the same arm? Yes.
On each arm? Slightly less yes.

But as Larenxis points out, wear 5 or more, and it's no longer a matter of stupid or not. It becomes... something more. Not sure what.
