Who's Your Wilson?

When I saw the Your Jams?! thread and thought it to be a testament to the sugary, jarred variety but instead found it to be about music, I started the Your Jams!? thread to set things right. Now, I've found the Who Is Your Wilson? thread, and it was about some volleyball or whatnot rather than that guy from House, MD or wilsonscrazybed. So goshdarnit gee whillickers, I'm doing it again.

So! Who's your Wilson? Who keeps you in line while keeping you laughing? Who in your life do you share threatening/flirtatious moments with, but you always know they're just looking out for you?

Personally, there's a teacher at my school who's my Wilson. He's got a great sense of dark humour, but he's always trying to make me constructive and follow the rules (to at least some degree.)

I'm sure some of us don't have a Wilson in our life, but what fills that hole for you? If you do have a Wilson, can you tell us of any times they were particularly Wilson-y?

My tied-for-best friend, who is two years younger than me and still at college six hours away. She's been wonderful, even though I've only known her for little more than a year and our main communication now is over AIM. But if I'm feeling a little down, she'll say the right thing to cheer me up or just make me laugh, even if I'm in a good mood already. Plus we flirt a little, even though she has a boyfriend (of about 2 years now), so that's a little fun.

Why is it, no one ever adds Woodrow Wilson to these threads?

I will answer this the same way I answered the other "Wilson" thread. My dragons. They keep me in check.

My guilt and conscience.

My empathy has recently taken advantage of a lapse in my asshattery, inspired by some outside factors, and now i feel bad about doing anything malevolent. I'm sort of self-ruling at the moment, what with being stubborn and as ethically rigid as a wooden pope. I can't even squash ants anymore.

I hope it wears off at some point.

Somehow I don't picture Jesus with much of a sense of humour?

If the belief is "created everything" why would Humor be exempt? He does make a few puns and sarcastic remarks in his sermons in the book of John, same with Paul in Acts.

One word: Platypus.
I justify this by that Jesus is part of the holy trinity.
And my two Best friends, we keep each other in check.

I'm a bit of a cross between House and Wilson already, and I just tend to listen to one side or another depending on my overall mood. It tends to confuse folks a lot when I'm a likable ass to some and a slightly witty nice guy to others. I tend to be the latter, though.

With my friends, I am the official Wilson of the group. We had a poll and everything.

Ha, that's an interesting question. Can I answer it in reverse? There's not one obvious Wilson for me, but it made me realize that one of my friends is like House to a ridiculous extent, and I seem to be his Wilson... interesting.

Put me down for the 'one of my teachers' category for $20. She was fearful and had a death stare that would kill a rattle snake, but was such a fun old lady. Still fun to talk to outside school.

I'm also going to say Mothra. She's a wild one that keeps me in line, but is also a great pal. Just have to remember not to pick up giant eggs and exploit them. But the delicious money!

I think everyone has had "one of those teachers" really, mine was a terrifying old arthritic lady who I had as a High School English teacher, she was scary but put me on the right path for University.

Similarly, my girlfriend acts as my "Wilson" on many occasions. With a ready and violent fist prepared to punish me with pugilism for my pungeant puns and other such moments where my snarky nature and hyperactive silliness threaten the status quo. That and she's just so cute when she tries to kill me.

Because Woodrow Wilson, although unintentionally, was one of the three main orchestrators of what could quite possibly be the worst moment in European history after The Holocaust, the Treaty of Versailles.

Great and noble man, just somewhat naive and easily manipulated.

I usually just put crabs in my mouth until the joy makes the trouble go away.

I don't have a Wilson. I tried it once or twice but they've always either crumbled, died or have too many problems of their own to have the time to talk about mine.

I've been a Wilson a few times, hearing "You stopped me for suicide" really puts your shit into perspective.

I know this is going to sound weird, but I'm going to have to say Susan Arendt on this one. I don't think there's anyone else who's managed to keep me in line (short of the literal Wilson, as well).

Oh, and LaCoil as well.

For the most part, though, I keep my own anger and grammar in check.

What does it say about me if I thought of Home Improvement before House? Other than that my mind is alphabetically organized.

I'd have to say one of my old teachers from HS that I keep in touch with. Man has got mad advice and laughter skills.
