Choose your Character!

This is totally not a fake parody game of Super Smash Bros.

Anyway, before development of this game begins I'm taking in suggestions for characters which would be playable in the game. As time progresses, screenshots of the game will be outed and by the end of this a character selection screen will be created with everyone's suggestions. You can also mention what your character's special attack will be.

Only one character per user, no doubles, no limit to the amount of playable characters. Providing an image (which should be spoiler tagged) that can be easily edited into a small box for the character selection screen will help.

Your chosen character must be a capable fighter, but this doesn't mean the character has to be an actual fighter. Take Kirby for example: He isn't really someone who'd pick a fight but when it comes to actual fighting, Kirby can hold his own with a decent variety of attacks.

Maybe we'll selected the stages next...

New rule: No suggesting playable characters from Super Smash Bros. anymore, you'll see why eventually!

Super Smash Escapists will hit the PC, Xbox One, Xbox 1, 2DS, Neo Geo Pocket Colour, Virtual Boy, Super Nintoaster, Dreamcast and Vaporware later this millennium.

Cool idea, though I've got one question. Are these characters meant to be based on actual Escapists, or just random characters we like?

Any character from any franchise, and if a user's avatar contains a character someone would like to choose, it would have that character's name on the selection screen and not the user's name.

For every confirmed character, it would have the Escapist who choose it's username next to that character's name anyway, so no selecting other Escapists since that would make it confusing.

Given that they have to be capable fighters, I'd say they have to be characters from visual media, not just ones we like.

So I nominate:

A sexy, shoeless, god of war.

Also what is it with Escapists and having that yellow-red M in their avatars?

Oh man, this was such an easy choice for me. Fucking Mako from Kill la Kill of course! That is, the Two-Star Fight Club version!

Special attacks you say?

Neutral B: Swag Slam - Punches the ground and knocks up all enemies around her

Side B: Dive - Fly forward with blind speed (like Falcon Kick or Fox's Dash). Takes damage if they hit anything other than a player

Down B: Snatch - Hold down to catch any projectile

Up B: Levitate - She can inexplicably levitate off the ground for recovery or to stall in the air before coming down with a Swag Slam or a Dive

Coppernerves:

March Mayhem!

See this thread and you'll know.

That's the March Mayhem symbol, it's in honour of the yearly Escapist developers award contest that's currently ongoing this month.

OT: I doubt many will be surprised by this nomination:

This thread, I like. I like a lot. Bout time we had a fun thread with this kind of vibe you know?

OT: People will probably think i'm weird for suggesting this after the Pokemon Marrying thread but- whatever lol.
I personally would like to choose Gardevoir as a character for this game!

Her Special Move:

Magic Leaf - Levitates thousands of leafs and sends them flying into enemies. Since they're covered in telepathic energy, they do special damage in comparison with the regular razor leaf move.

Her Ultimate Move:

Black Hole: Using all of her psychic power, she will create a small black hole. It's in the Poke'dex of Pokemon X/Y. She'll only use it to protect her trainer though.

Geralt of Rivia:
-Capable fighter, has been trained from birth to be a duelist
-Immune to poison and disease
-Special Move(s): The ability to cast magic using signs
-Igni: Sets the enemy on fire for a short amount of time
-Aard: Stuns and knocks back the enemy a short distance, if near a ledge, the enemy is flung off of the ledge
-Yrden: Creates a small "energy trap" that explodes and roots the enemy in place if stepped upon(if Geralt steps on it, he is dealt the damage, but is not rooted)
-Quen: Creates a field of energy around Geralt that can block one attack, ranged or melee
-Axii: Stuns and enemy for a brief amount of time and causes them to attack their allies.

-.- fanboyed out a little there, but I think Geralt is the character I respect the most, and undoubtedly, the biggest badass I have seen in all of fiction.

For more reference:

http://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/Geralt_of_Rivia

And a picture of the man himself:

Burt Gummer from Tremors!

He could use a variety of guns and pipe bombs for his normal attacks, and summon that big anti-aircraft turret he uses at the beginning of Tremors 3 for his special attack. Or maybe he could use one of those ultra-sonic wristwatches from Tremors 3 to summon El Blanco the white graboid to eat his enemies; either would be awesome.

I think I'mma go with Aang, from Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Master of the four elements as well as hand to hand combat.

Neutral B: Cycle equipped element, similar to Pokémon Trainer.

Up B: Air: Shoots up high on a current of air with a knock back effect on nearby units. Fire: Similar to Fox's up B. Water: Rises on a tower of water, lasting for a few seconds. Enemies running into the pillar of water rebound and take minor damage. Earth: Catapulted by a spike of rock from the ground, similar to Sonic's up B. Protrusion remains for several seconds and can be climbed by players before crumbling.

Side B: Air: Takes a breath and exhales a mighty blast of air, forcing enemies back. Fire: Dancing dragon. Aang performs the technique, taking several paces along while coils of fire follow his arms. Water: Water whip. Earth: Stamps foot, creating an angled protrusion of rock and kicks it. Protrusion skids along flat surface until it hits a player or other obstable, breaking.

Down B: Air: Air scooter. Aang creates a focused ball of air and rides atop it. Similar to Yoshi's down B, but a little slower and easier to control. Possibly travels up horizontal/diagonal surfaces. Fire: Mighty burst of fire in all directions. Water: Spikes of ice explode from the ground around Aang. Smaller range than Earth but with more focused damage. Earth: Similar to water down B but with spikes of rock. Larger range, wider spread of damage.

I don't know whether smash balls would be a thing here, but if they were, Aang's would be the Avatar state in which he is surrounded by the four elements and floats through the air.

Edit: I think air would be knock back focused and would not inflict damage.

Edit 2: his melee combat would be a little bit floaty. Good for dodging and delivering counter blows.

Gau from Final Fantasy 6

Since every fighting game needs a not-Blanka.

His specials could be moves he does in his Rages, for example.

Not that mention that Gau is a bundle of cute.

Moveset:

Left B: Catscratch. (Stray Cat)
Down B: Meteo (Tyranosaur)
Up B: Giga Volt (Aspik)
Right B: Leap (Leaping attack, if it hits another character, Gau gains a random move from that character's moveset)
Neutral B: Rage (Uses random move from the other character that was hit by Leap)

Are we allowed to put real Smash fighters in too? If so, I don't think you need to guess who mine is. :3

As for some original characters:

Considering it is a large, mascot legendary Pokemon, it will probably either be in a Pokeball, or a stage hazard anyway. But I can dream can't I?

Moveset:

B would be Dragonbreath/Dragon pulse
B side would be Fusion Flare
B up would be something mixing fly with Blue Flare/Flame charge/Flare Blitz
B down would be turning on Turboblaze to increase attack, but it will start to add percentage damage with each successful hit like how Pichu would take damage when using its electric moves in Melee.

It's A smashes would be a combination of slashes bites and fiery goodness. For A up it would cover itself in fiery explosion to knock enemies upward.

Final Smash would be Draco Meteor, or maybe it would fuse with Kyurem for a limited time.

He would work just like the Pokemon trainer where B down would allow him to switch between a Deku(fast and light), a Goron(slow, heavy, strong) and a Zora(somehwere in the middle of the other two.)

Final Smash would be turning into Fierce Deity form for about 30 seconds. I know so many people would love this, make it happen Sakurai!

Edit: just saw the rule of one character per user, I will go with Reshiram since Link is always in the real game.

Johannes Krauser II (simply called Krauser) from Detroit Metal City.

His attack could be a guitar smash!

He could also revert to "Negashi" the mild mannered person behind the mask.

Well clearly I must suggest the near game breaking, CM PUNK!

He's the best WRESTLER in the world. Best talker, and despite being smaller then most he has no problem picking fights with people bigger than him.

FINAL SMASH: GTS (Go To Sleep)

B- Roundhouse Kick
Down B- Welcome To Chicago Motherfucker
Side B- Running Knee/Bulldog
Up B- Randy Savage Elbow Drop

Will there be any final smashes?

Anyways, I'll choose Homura Akemi, from Puella Magi Madoka Magica:

As for special attack...

B (neutral)- pulls out Pistol.

B + Up- Teleport. Using her time powers, she can "teleport" a short distance in any direction, similar to Zelda/Shiek.

B + Side- Pulls out RPG. Holding it down will charge the attack. You can also aim.

B + Down- Set detonatable explosive trap, holding it down will let you hold a bomb so you can throw it at enemies.

Her movesets is very similar to Solid Snake, except she's lighter and a lot more agile.

If final smashes are available, she momentarily freeze time, which gives her the opportunity to land multiple powerful blows on an opponent, as well as set traps like bombs and projectiles, which if thrown, also freezes in midair.

Oh, this is an easy pick for me! I shall pick the supreme god of badassery himself, Guts!!!

I suggest Faith, from Mirror's Edge.

All her attacks are melee based, and don't do much damage. However, she's fast and agile, has virtually no ledge-climbing time and can loft people easily.

Special attack set:

Forward+B: Vault over opponent.
Backward+B: Grab item out of opponent's hands if any, club them with the runner's bag otherwise.
Up+B: Kick opponent into the air.
Down+B: Crotch-kick.

Final Smash: Flying dragon kicks all the way across the map, majorly lofting everyone in the way.

Going to go with my old favorite suggestion: Zoroark

Its signature ability of illusion pretty much mandates that the character act like Charade of Soul Calibur fame...in essence it is the random button incarnate, taking the form of a random character for each life. The only exception to this rule would come when its final smash was activated, which of course would have to be its signature move of Night Daze.

As you might guess, that's an omnidirectional attack of pretty decent power. This is followed by Zoroark's illusion faltering, during which time (roughly equivalent to the longer final smashes) the character would take additional damage from all sources. This would also be the only time when it has access to its own unique moveset.

B: Dark Pulse

This move is functionally similar to R.O.B.'s Robo Beam, acting as a move that passively charges over a period of time. Release it too soon and it's more insult than injury. Fire it off when it's fully charged and it can be quite dangerous.

Side B: Night Slash

This move kind of hits a middle ground between Jigglypuff's 'Pound' and Fox's 'Fox Illusion'. More distance and speed than the former but less than the latter.

Up B: Feint attack

Character very briefly (no more than two seconds) becomes invisible. Can still damage and be damaged while invisible. Character's shadow is still visible on the ground below it but only tracks horizontal movement, not vertical.

Down B: Foul Play

Standard 'counter' move. See Lucario for effective nature of the attack.

Player must remain as Zoroark for the duration of the time limit. Death will not end that prematurely.

Lucy Heartfilia!

First move:

OPEN! Gate of the golden bull! Taurus!

Second move:

OPEN! Gate of the lion! Leo!

Third move:

OPEN! Gate of The Lamb! Aries!

Fourth and final move: Whip yo' arse!

Hero of Lime:

He would work just like the Pokemon trainer where B down would allow him to switch between a Deku(fast and light), a Goron(slow, heavy, strong) and a Zora(somehwere in the middle of the other two.)

Final Smash would be turning into Fierce Deity form for about 30 seconds. I know so many people would love this, make it happen Sakurai!

I really like this idea :D I wish this was how Young Link had been done in Melee!

OT: I'm gonna have to go with an obvious choice of franchise but maybe not so obvious character;

I was just gonna say Sora and he would be cool too but Aqua is awesome and, as I said, less obvious :)

EDIT: Oh! Forgot about B attacks!

B: Triple Firaga
Side-B: Blizzard-Raid
Down-B: Barrier (lasts 2 seconds and deflects projectiles but also blocks all attacks. Spamming it too often would leave her open to attack.)
Up-B: Thundaga

Final Smash: Aqua takes on the Blade Charge command style.

Erased

Can we suggest real people who have played fictional characters from movies (i.e. I want to suggest an actor, but his attacks would be from three of his movies), or does that count?

Travis Touchdown from No More Heroes.

I won't go into details on his moves other than his standard attack is his sword slash combo and picking the enemy from behind will result in a Suplex. Also when he block, it would be like Jedi lightsaber blocking. Lastly one of his taunt moves is his "recharge" move for his bean katanna.

I'd say Korra just for the sake of keeping with the parody. She'd be basically young or toon link. Just have her play like Aang, or if that doesn't suit you, maybe just have adult Aang.

Timmy the Evil would be a welcome sight; it'd be nice if someone actually made a game with Unforgotten Realms in mind *coughcough*where'sthatdamnblogrob*coughcough*.

Dude bro from SMT Nocturne. A lot of people seem to like his design, and it'd be interesting to see other SMT fighters than just in the Persona series.

I wouldn't mind seeing Jarlaxle

I've no idea exactly what his specials would be, cause just about everything the bastard wears is enchanted. That feathered hat? He can pull the feather out (which regrows back) and toss it down to summon a weird ostrich thing I forgot the name of. The eyepatch? Prevents people n monsters from reading his mind. The rest? I forget off the top of my head, only that he wears quite a bit of jewelry and it only makes noise when he wants it to.

Oh, and bonus picture!

My answer is somewhat bizzare:

MATHIMATICIAN! MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE!
Basically, he takes the concepts and proceeded to TEAR THEM DOWN! ARMED WITH THE LAWS OF PHYSICS AND ABSTRACT IDEAS, THEY WILL TEAR HOLES IN THE FABRIC OF REALITY!

FINAL MOVE: YOU CANNOT COMPREHEND IT'S TRUE FORM!
*Everyone's head explodes when a 4 dimensional monster appears*

Travis Touchdown!

Honestly, if anyone deserves to be in a brawling game, its gotta be Travis, with his unforgettable attitude and extremly quotable lines!

"People deal with grief differently, some people fuck at at funerals, I cut off heads"
"It's called being fashionably late, fuckface!"
"When you see your brother in hell, tell him he's still a douche!"
"Hey, he's gone! Mr. Sir Henry Motherfucker. He just jetted, what a pussy!"

I'll go with "Saga" from Saint Seiya because why the hell not.
His special attacks are:
1)Galaxian Explosion: he concentrates his cosmos as to cause a "galaxian explosion" on his enemy 2) "Another Dimension": sends the enemy to another dimension
3) "Genie Fist": Allows him to mind control the opponent by hitting the brain on the right place with the right strength. (Is actually more a hypnosis than mind control)

or in his "zombie revived by Hades" mode:

I'm gonna have to go with my former avatar,

BADASS Special attacks:

Neutral B: PULL OUT A BADASS TORGUE WEAPON AND BLOW SH*T UP!! Pull out and shoot one of three guns, randomly selected when the button is pressed BECAUSE TORGUE DOESN'T WASTE TIME LOOKING FOR THE RIGHT GUN WHEN SH*T NEEDS TO BLOW UP!!. The three possible weapons: the Nukem, which shoots a single bomb that produces a very large explosion on contact with anything, The SWORDSPLOSION!! which shoots a sword which can do impact damage, produces a small explosion after a delay, then does a two stage MIRV effect of more explosions (which are relatively small and weak), and finally a classic TORGUE shotgun, which fires fast moving missiles in a cone pattern that explode after traveling a short distance.

Side B: Punches with a rocket in his hand. If it misses, nothing happens. If it hits, a high damage explosion occurs hitting both Mr. Torgue and the target, as well as anyone else that happens to be in the AOE.

Down B: Pulls out a homing grenade which can be thrown as an item at Torgue's leisure WHICH SHOULD BE THROWN IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE SH*T NEEDS TO BLOW UP! The homing effect goes to a random player, with a small chance of it even turning around and homing back to Torgue.

Up B: TORGUE EXPLODES HIMSELF WITH PURE BADASSITUDE, taking slight damage, launching himself upwards, and inflicting some damage and heavy knockback to those around him.

Final smash: GUITAR SOLO MEEDLY-MIDDLY-MOOAWWWW!! This badass guitar solo lasts about 15 seconds and causes explosions in random places all over the stage. The finale causes a huge, massive damage explosion around Torgue. Unlike for his special b attacks, Torgue is immune to the explosions from this ability.

Edit: Mr. Torgue is from Borderlands 2, for those of you that don't know.

Edit 2: It seems we are including stage themes now, so I found this soundtrack, which has all the music from the Torgue dlc. Most of the combat soundtracks would work good, but the Badassasaurus theme would be amazing.

Of course, Miracle of Sound has also put up a good song for a Borderlands stage.

Death the kid from soul eater.

Because every fighting game needs a ranged attack spammer. It's the rules.

Special attack: Death cannon. Kid uses soul resonance to transform his dual pistols into massive laser cannons and fires them at the same time at the enemy. Something like Samus Aran's smash attack.

shogunblade:

Any real person is fine. Again, they need to be a capable fighter.

klaynexas3:
I'd say Korra.

Timmy the Evil.

Dude bro from SMT Nocturne.

Sooo... which of the three characters you've mentioned will be your choice? Everyone's only allowed to make one suggestion.

Scarim Coral:
Travis.

TizzytheTormentor:
Touchdown.

One of you has to suggest someone else, there's only one person for Travis Touchdown!

Aerosteam:

Can I motion that we change CM Punk's placement from Reality to WWE?
