Gone Gonzo Posts: 1879 Joined: 11 Jul 2008 | Also, this is one of the downsides of music piracy, most people with the intelligence to know how to use something like bit torrent are downloading good music, whereas the others are still grabbing CD singles for £3.99 on their weekly shop, or downloading it onto their pink hello kitty cellphone. Unfortunately, I do feel part of the reason the charts are so full of crap is that crappy music doesn't get pirated as much as good stuff. I'm sure I'll get disproved tho. again, not trying to derail the thread, just offering a theory. |

Well, wow. You really do have virtually no vocabulary do you? Seriously?! The best thing you can come up with is.... well, ^ that shit. This isn't "my" forum. It is "our" forum. You not included. Well, I'm not entirely certain I got the "fish head" joke, if it can be called that, and please, stop the sarcasm. You overuse it, and it is dangerous to overuse something at which you are painfully inept. Again, if you are annoyed with me, I do not get the thing wherein you tell everybody to stab themselves. You then point out post count - well, mistake there troll chappy, as not everyone who thinks that you are an offensive oaf in the guise of a mere incompetent, and, as we consider your next statement, I can virtually guarantee that I have more of a "life" (quite how that is gaged I am unsure) than you. However, you do make an excellent point by saying that you are just flaming and are surprised at the lack of bannage, which just acknowledges that you are just trolling for the fun of it. Ergo, you are nothing but a troll who needs vanquishing, you are a poor troll who has been vanquished already, and so I cordially invite the moderators to strike yu with a banhammer. I know that gaga roughly means "stupid" or "crazy" in Tagalog. |

That's possibly true. But really, who cares? Let the smart people enjoy the good (free :P) music, and let the stupid people keep the market alive. I listen to what I like, not what a stupid chart tells me. I can't understand why anyone would even care this much. x_x |

...does your superiority complex weigh you down? Seriously though, you're not completely wrong. If people aren't all that into music as anything other than a beat to shake their ass too, or background noise. Then there is no reason for them to search for something better than what is thrust in front of them. |

Hmm, that Lady Gaga jam wasn't too bad. I like techno/trance, so that's not too far removed from what I'd normally listen to. The eyes were tortured by the music video, however. It was a perpetual 40-something drug-enabled swinger party. So, what's wrong with people in general? This. However, you get used to it after awhile. |

Ironic that you tell the OP to chill out. Why don't you take some of your own advice? You're overreacting as much as the OP did. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1254 Joined: 19 Mar 2008 | I'm going to go against the general opinion here and agree with Credge. It's a terrible song that doesn't deserve even 1 week in the charts in Monaco. I don't want to hate on people who like the song because they obviously just have very different tastes that I don't personally understand. It just seems a bit silly to put this one song up on that short list with some absolute classics. I'm not the biggest Beyonce or Coldplay fan, but I can see why people would like them and they have some songs which are memorable and deserve some recognition. But who in hell is Lady Gaga? I just don't get it. |

I kinda care, because this tells the bosses that Lady Gaga is more commercially viable than other bands who write songs and play instruments, and therefore more funding goes into promoting pretty people to front bubblegum pop songs, and songwriters and talented bands get less and less funding to create really great new work. I also place supermarkets and the like to blame, sure they can put their 'top 20' out at maybe £8 a copy, when music specialists have to charge £13 to make a profit, but they don't stock anything else. I suggest there's still a huge market of music buyers who only buy cds, not digital anything. I worked in a music store before the whole company went bankrupt, and watched the whole thing happening, trade moving away from us towards ASDA etc, of course, they'd come to us to get hold of hard to obtain music, but they wouldn't buy their 'NOW 68' or 'DANCE 2006 Part 3' compilations from us, as they could get them a few pounds cheaper in Tesco. I of course don't blame them, anyone with sense buys the cheapest one, but it's damaging the industry to only promote a select few bands and 'artists', but at least we have the internet! |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1879 Joined: 11 Jul 2008 | By the way, note how I've responded, and then wonder how the hell anyone can imagine its worth abuse a death threats over, someone released a bad record and it's popular. How do these people ever leave the house, if they get that angry? Take it easy, by all means comment, and be annoyed, but short of a future holocaust, is it worth raising your blood pressure that much? |
Copy Clerk Posts: 56 Joined: 12 Dec 2008 | Music single charts aren't good for much. Usually, the only people who buy singles are teenagers - and we all know how stupid they are! This is why the black eyed peas are always at number one. Every single they put out has some bleepy, catchy intro that teenagers can use as a ringtone and impress their friends on the bus. Meh, I hate the media. I hate myself for working in it :( |

They have opposable (sp?) thumbs? In regards to the OP. Well we all new that modern music listeners in general have become like sheep. I'm surprised this kind of crap hasn't happened before. Ah well I'm glad I like music from the olden (mainly) days. But wait until we have the pre-programmed pop-stars... it'll be soon. Mark my words... |

It's "Scheiße" (I feel dirty because I typed that) but since there is no "ß" in the english language you can still write "Scheisse". You shouldn't though because then you are a bad person! |

Why shouldn't I feel more artistically and musically enlightened than someone who doesn't listen to anything other than what is thrust in front of them? You'd have to be pretty simple minded to just stick to that. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1285 Joined: 24 Apr 2008 |
It's just not palatable. I play 5 intruments, I sing, I write songs and I am currently putting together a band/disc. If you do less musically than I do, does that make you simple minded in comparison? Does it mean my opinion outranks yours? |

No. Not at all. At least you have the decency not to rant about it. If you like the song, then good for you. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2504 Joined: 13 Dec 2008 | Well, everything there apart from The Beatles, The Monkees (but they aren't great) and Simon & Garfunkel suck. In my opinion. But who give a flying fuck? |
Paperboy Posts: 44 Joined: 21 Sep 2008 | Actually, I think Lady GaGa or whoever's running her deal deserves some credit. Everyone else had to make musical masterpieces to get on that list, but she just Fandango'd her way in, y'know? |

Ok, I know it's hinted, but I think to clear things up, 'Gaga' does in fact now mean both 'shit' and 'stupid' in every language that has heard that single. As in the phrase...
'That Lady Gaga single, that's some gaga gaga.'
As for the top four on that list. I can explain everything with one statement.
1 The Beatles (1964-70, 2000-01)
2 The Monkees (1967)
3 Simon and Garfunkel (1970)
4 Rod Stewart (1971)
Imagine any of those lot going in front of Simon Cowell on the X Factor or 'Idol', they'd all be packed off home in the first round, saying they had no real potential, in favour of a chubby girl whose mum is ill. 'Imagine what, John? It doesn't mean anything, you've got no song writing talent, no tunes, All you need is not love, but bus fare, because you're going home.'
That there is why Lady Gaga made it onto the list.
