Times have changed... Everything changes, despite what you want to interpret in your frame of mind. Read The Neuroscience of Decision Making, fairly interesting read how a person makes decision, which also has something on how people will always try to interpret the world to forcefully fit into the mental framework of what you already believe. Personally I wouldn't worry too much about it.
I know, it's depressing isn't it. It used to be about people trying to be creative and now it is the greed for money, I can't even call it music! Thats just it though, there isn't anymore talent in the industry, many of these artists even have to play themselves recorded LIVE just because they suck that bad, and half of them don't even write their own music!
Sexual Harassment Panda: It's just not palatable. I play 5 intruments, I sing, I write songs and I am currently putting together a band/disc. If you do less musically than I do, does that make you simple minded in comparison? Does it mean my opinion outranks yours?
Definitely not. Because this is a forum and because the only thing happening here is discussion, I tend to care more what someone has to say if they're the type who can broadly and open-minded appreciate music instead of simply listening to whatever is broadcast for the two weeks that it'll stick around.
You play five instruments? Okay. That tells me a lot. People say they "play instruments" as reinforcement of their opinion as if they haven't said something incredibly vague. I used to play guitar and keyboards. I still sing. So what? It's irrelevant. The point is that if someone is narrow-minded and doesn't seek out what they haven't heard, chances are they aren't very imaginative either, and an instrument in an uncreative person's hands will create boring music. That's just how it is.
Being able to play an instrument creatively is what matters. Simply playing one doesn't mean much for most people, because most people will "start a band" and either cover or blatantly rip-off or clone shit that already exists, and if they're doing that then the shit they selected probably wasn't outstanding to begin with.
I know a guy Darryl who plays, with more than respectable skill, the guitar, bongos, keyboard/piano, writes lyrics, and sings lead vocals in two bands, (whose members I hang out with quite often, and so I join in singing while they practice and help them come up with ideas for lyrics) and on top of all this, he cannot even read tabs or sheet music. He plays only with his memory, his natural rhythm and his own creativity.
A random yahoo mainstream listener picking up the guitar so they can rock out like Billie Joe Armstrong will not produce anything interesting.

Who says being eclectic is essential to writing creatively? I don't mean to be rude, it's just the level of generalisation in your conclusions is baffling to me.
Ago Iterum: Trust, when you're mashed in a club, this song gets you going.
When I'm sober it's shit though.
O shit hardass

Get a life.
Shit reported back, quite being an internet hard ass. But really i was trashed when i replied to that...
Quite being an internet hardass? Okay, I'll quite being an internet hardass, just for you.
But really, my post was on topic and relevant. Yours wasn't. I assume you think I was acting hard by mentioning that I go out to nightclubs and such, but really I was just giving an example of when I've enjoyed the song in the topic.
And to be 'quit' (Ha, see what I did there?) honest, I don't care whatsoever about what you think. I find it quite funny that you're spending your time attempting to call out people who say something that implies that they have a social life. I don't need your assurance. So go away.

A lot of things that you hate when you're sober you can loosen up and enjoy with alcahol, it alters your sense of reality.
And you talk about me acting like a 'hard ass' you clearly think you're superior enough to challenge what I say, with no back up whatsoever, and some of the most retarded arguments I've ever seen in my life.
I'll live the way I want to live, and I'll say what I want to say. You're pathetic.
*EDIT* sorry for going off topic, and I'm glad to see the intenet bad boy has been banned.

Yeah, you reported me, but am I the one with the ban?
And don't tell me to learn to spell, when you've frequently spelled 'quit' wrong, even after being corrected.

You have some issues.
Dude, let it go. The twit was banned, it's over.
I'm just ashamed at how long it actually took considering every post he ever made was troll feces.
Also uh, Gaga still sucks? I dunno *tries to stay on-topic*.
I think the only reason this song did so well is because it hits home to all those people who've been in a similar situation that the song describes. Which is alot.
I don't think the songs that bad, but it gets on my nerves because EVERYONE plays it
Personally I think it's a good tune, especially in clubs. I'd rather have Lady GaGa playing then any of the indie garbage that populates the UK charts at the momement. The singers can't sing, the lyrics are garbage, the music itself is average, usually showing, at best, an utterly basic grasp of how to play the guitar/drums. Plus the singers sound like they have the same amount of passion as a dead rat, whilst looking like they share the same concern for hygeine as one, and are only singing for cash with no understanding of what they're singing about, or even a gleam of intelligence. Also it's utterly impossible to dance along with, and most of the bands are one-hit wonders, showing the lack of skill the groups have. I hope more stuff like Lady GaGa comes out, easy to listen too & even better to look at.
It's club music. Club music is what is popular these days. It really isn't that bad either. I work as a DJ and spin shit like that and worse for a living, and Lady GaGa is actually pretty good, she has some witty lyrics and funny lines here and there, and the songs at least sound different enough from one another to tell.
I ask that question all the time, rarely about people's taste in music though.
I most often ask that when I watch the news. Or watch Jon Stewart play clips of Fox News.
I actually watched Fox News for a few hours and felt like crawling into a ball and crying, or slamming my head so hard into the edge of a desk so that I would brain damage myself enough to forget what I had saw.
For crying out loud, it's an opinion! If someone said "I like Lady Gaga but I don't like The Beatles" it wouldn't mean that their brain's shut down. No one forced you to listen to it, and if the charts bother you that much just don't pay attention to it. Just go listen to Mr. Blue Sky. That'll calm you down.
O shit hardass
