"...What hell do you mean: you've never seen The Exorsist!!!"

This is the response my girlfriend gave and will most of you would have giving up unitl a few weeks ago.

I'm now 25 and I saw the Exorsist about 3 weeks ago. I never thought about getting it on dvd or watching it on TV if it was programmed.

According to my girlfriend it had her and a mate creeping round her house (Which was a gate house for a cemetry), with kitchen knives after seeing it.

My friend, who has on of the biggest horror collections (Leprechan in the hood to Bad Taste to the entire hell raiser series), said and I quote

"DUDE....its brutal!"

I am fully aware of the hype around this film. According to sources, preist where sometimes found in the back seats at cinema where it was showing, to relief people from the belief that they were "possessed".

so...2 friends recommended it as something to scare you wittless and legend of requiring a preist on standby with holywater and rosaray beads, did finally convince me, and my friend returned to the DVD player with the non-dircetors cut version

To summarise, so I can explain without writing loads of analytics about acting and so forth, is that I was disappointed.

not with the film but with the hype...its like turning up to a party and all the drinks are tesco own brand larger...or worse...SKOL!

The story is very gripping, the priest whose have a crisis of faith and finds reason for his beliefs in the end, be it he does come to a sticky end. The version I was watching did miss out some important plot holes which had been edited out...why? the story would have made alot of sense with them in and they weren't even that long. Like how does the excavtion in Iraq link to the events that are going on.

The parts that were missing were filled in by the commentation of friends. But that aside the main reason you watch a horror is the fear, the thrill, the skin crawling effect.

No ticks in those boxes, as far as i was concerned I was watching 2 preist exorcise a 14 year old girl. However a convincing possesed 14 year old girl, special effects for the time were mint bar none.

And I'd like to make a point that all movies should return to the old glue and PVC mould special effects of old rather than just blue screening EVERYTHING!

Reason: I shit my kegs at Indian Jones: the last crusade and the raiders of the lost ark, when I was young and still think back at how scared I was when I watch it today.

Anyway, good film, good plot, even if most of it is missing, but all the hype at the most scariest film.....yeh....if your Amish!
