Copy Clerk Posts: 94 Joined: 28 Dec 2008 | They didnt take out dual pistols you can still find pistols on the ground, as well as the magnum which replaces your pistol but is still long range. Also yes all of the content in L4D2 could have been downloadable, other than the AI improvements, but it would have cost a fortune and took up a ton of space so its better off this way, at least in my opinion. |

Yeah, your right. I'm not sure about how many campaigns theres going to be, but I hear it's going to intertwine with one another, but still limited amount of levels to go through. |

You actually used a magnum? Why didn't I see it? I played the demo about 10 times. |
Paperboy Posts: 41 Joined: 15 Apr 2009 | Because of the defibrillator I'm curious as to how expert will work, will there be no more hero closets but a resurrection at the end of a chapter? Killing someone off in front of a hero closet was an effective way to resurrect a player and then they were able to pick up their gear. |

Once you leave the room that has new guns and melee weapons over the the trucks, run around the corner and all the way down the alley and sometimes there will be magnums by the fence.
Resurrection still works the same way, just if you pull out a defib it highlights dead bodies so you can run up to them and use it just like a med kit. |

Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 869 Joined: 28 May 2009 | Errrr... The survivor cloests are there, if you mean the closets you respawn in. I shock paddled my friend back to life during a melee dual, and he hit me with the guitar before I could switch back. He killed me and left me but I respawned in a cupboard, banging on the doors just like L4D. |

Press Junketeer Posts: 395 Joined: 16 Jul 2009 | You forgot to mention the now extensive list of weapons. Y'know, what with everything? You already heard about them there magnums, so need to go there... The Uncommon Common (CEDA Agents [Hazmat] and Police zombies) aren't around inside the Non-Violent version. But there are ways to alter the files and remove the violence blocker...the other computer in this house has it. |

I have read someone else talking about a desert eagle, mind telling me where in the demo you found the DE or magnum? I would love a mess about with it. :D OT: Yep agree with the review, especially about the friendly AI, they def know how to handle themselves better now, thank god. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 902 Joined: 17 Dec 2008 | I actually disagree about the Survivor AI, I think they're just as terrible as they were in Left 4 Dead. They're excellent at killing a single target, but fail against multiple targets, making them pathetic at dealing with the common infected. On Expert the common infected are the second biggest threat (friendly fire being number one IMO) so you basically have to kill half the zombies by yourself if you want to stand a chance. Plus they do really stupid things, like run twenty feet to melee something off instead of just shooting it. Here's a fun game - download the plugin that lets you play as Infected, set up a single-player game on Expert, allow an all bot team, switch to infected, hide somewhere out of sight, do not attack, and watch the AI fail repeatedly. |

5 Campaigns with 4 levels each I think. Story will link them together. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 827 Joined: 17 Apr 2008 | Really good demo. Definitely equal or greater value than the original game. I'm gonna be buying this one. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1378 Joined: 11 Jun 2009 | What do you mean by player closets? Do you mean the cupboards they respawn in? In that case, they're still in the game You can still dual-wield The Bots still do that damn annoying "try to pick up a downed player at all costs, even if it means running into a Tank" thing |

In an expert game of L4D the witch will instantly kill a player. The idea is to either not disturb her, or kill her before she becomes angry.
No, it couldn't have been. L4D2 is way too big to be an expansion. It's a sequel. User was banned for: immigrants re-shaping cultures?. (Permanent) |

I also heard that there's going to be cricket bats in the game. |
On the Record Posts: 5193 Joined: 18 Mar 2009 | You left out a ton of details. You neglected to mention most of the new weapons and items. You always only gave a very brief description of the new SI, and didn't even talk about the UCI. What about all the improvements made to the AID? Sorry, it's just that there is a lot missing from this review. Had I not played the demo myself I would know almost nothing about the game. Also, hero closets and duel wielding are still in the game.
There is. In fact, the dialogue spoken by the survivors when they pick it up is already in the game. I like how Ellis calls it "some sort of paddle-bat thing."
There are 5 campaigns, but 3 of them have 5 levels each. The only ones with 4 levels are Dead Center and Swamp Fever (or was it Hard Rain?), and in those campaigns the levels are lengthened so that they are just as long as the other campaigns. |

The zombies are just going to run away when they see me rollin' with that. The hunting rifle was bad enough. User was banned for: immigrants re-shaping cultures?. (Permanent) |
Beat Writer Posts: 141 Joined: 27 Oct 2009 | Good review, I don't plan on buying but renting on release. My experience was a little different though. For the Charger he was spot on, but he came alone so as tough as he was the whole team destroyed him pretty fast. The spitter is obscenely weak I took her down way to fast but her acid is a good slow down and hurts! if your not paying attention. The jockey seems more dangerous then he actually is, like the spitter was already down when he would show up, and for some reasons when there was regular zombies he would stir me away from them most of the time, one time he did put me in the middle of a mob and I did go down. To me the best new zombie is the armored at first I figured that if I just shot a lot he would die, but no he keeps getting back up, eventually I did the melee then shoot strategy and that made it easier, hes still a fiend in mobs. |

I dont remember exactly but there's a desert eagle behind a dumpster in the second part I think. It counts as a primary gun instead of secondary though, so you cant carry a shotgun and a Deagal. which sucks. |

Hey thanks for the help, I found it in the end since then anyway, but appreciated none the less. I think it is a secondary weapon though, I was sure it just replaced my standard pistols when I found it. PS: it rocks! |

well anyway glad to help. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2566 Joined: 22 Feb 2009 | This wasn't a very good review, sorry. A lot of the information is false, if by "Player Closets" you mean when a new character spawns inside of a closet, or a room, then you are wrong, they DO have that. And there is NO WAY the game could have possibly been "DLC" for the first. The new game is just too big and would be too much of a hassle and expenditure on Valve's end. I'd also like to state to a lot of the people who bitch about how this should have been DLC in the first place. Fuck you. you have no right to be entitled to anything. |

Wait a second, the Deagle counted as my firearm, so I was able to keep my chrome shotty AND a deagle (Up until I find a machete :D) |

... Tad bit hostile aren't we? We are all entitled to our opinions. I wasn't originally gonna get it until a sale went on but after hearing coach say "I know one thing for sure. I'm grabbing peelz" I was Sold (Until a smaller sale goes off) :D |

I'm no more hostile than the people who are outrage, OUTRAGED, at the fact that they actually have to pay money for a video-game instead of it being DLC, which as i stated before, would be impossible. |

That's no exscuse, remember the saying "Don't argue with idiots, they'll bring you down to their level then beat you with experience." 'sides some may honestly have thought it was going to be DLC to begin with, then out cried when they thought that they were paying a full game price for (In their minds) DLC. From which over all is wrong, but nonetheless it's their opinions, same as it is ours that it shouldn't be DLC. Ah well, don't wanna get all hostile on yeah, in case that's what your gettin' =] |

I agree with this of that being this is more of an expansion rather than an actual sequel. |
Anonymous Source Posts: 8 Joined: 20 Oct 2009 | I'll be waiting till till it hits discount on steam in a year or so. It looks nice and plays much the same I just don't feel the need to dish out another 40 dollars like i did on thier first game. |

Well after a 15 minute wait, I got to try the L4D2 Demo, and for the most part it's fun. For one your AI teamates are better, they don't waste health, hurry to save your sorry ass when a special infected pounces, maims, pounds, or burns you. While I wasn't looking at them most of the time, they used some form of stratagy and kept close to both me and themselves, they keep up as always and are much better for it.
There are 3 more "special" infected added to the list, making it 7. Armored and hazmat infected don't count. You have the Charger, an f'ed up looking zombie with a bigass arm, his job is to split/divide players and maybe kill a survivor. Next is the Spitter, she can spit acid at you and the ground to make it impossible to cross for a few seconds, her job is to slow down/divide players to allow other special infected finish players off (thats gotta suck on expert!). Finally there is the Jockey, an annoying little bastard that will jump on you and steer you into danger, that makes him a pain in the ass on harder difficulties.
A new option to add to your secondary, I just used up all my shotgun ammo and I'm fucked slot, is a melee weapon. Now against normal infected these weapons work great, against the special infected well... hope you got some pain pills and maybe a med pack. Another new add on is a pair of jumper cables, to revive a person by putting X amount of watts into their flesh, that's designed more for expert difficulty, but still shows up in the lower difficulties. They've also added new gernades like boomer bile which attracts zombies but doesn't kill them like a pipebomb, and new drugs like adrenaline which speeds you up.
What I didn't like was how the Witch can kill you in two hits, they also took out player closets (porbably to keep players from being cheap), I also don't like how most of the content in L4D2 could have been DLC for the first. Still this is a better L4D and it works good and plays good, and thats all we need to ask from a game. Kudos to Valve, for giving us the game that allows us to shoot southern zombies!
