It's the FFCC for the NDS, it's AOK and LOL with visuals that had me OMG and when they started with the EVO i went WTF.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for the Nintendo DS. I like it. Best fourty bucks I spent this year (not counting the money I spent on dates because I tend to class things in leagues and no matter how good a game is unless it learns how to give a decent blowjob when you finish it I'm not even going to consider classing it along in the leagues of dates).

It's not turnbased, it's real time action adventure with some jumping tricks and puzzles and most important, a fun multiplayer (another reason to win the lottery. I mean make friends. well, either will provide you with company for FFCCRoF.)

A definite must-buy. You don't need the original CC for NGC or the Wii version because this is a stand alone story. and for the DS, it's got pretty decent graphics (and some cutscenes are voiced completely in English - even more, this is one English Voice Work that didn't make me want to stick my rooster in beehives.). the franchise settles down again with the CC version of Moogles, more mouse and less cat than the NES, SNES or PSX or PS2 versions (is there a PS2 game with Moogles? pic or it didn't happen.), the stamp cards, which also crosses over into the realm of the multiplayer mayhem, which you can tackle alone but you might as well bring a mate since nobody wants to be a silly sod that gets to finish multiplayer mode by himself. unless your name is Master Baysson (like Master Miller.)

On the whole, it's cute, it's clever, the puzzles are simple yet challenging (i'm not going to say "with a twist because then they wouldn't be "simple" but "innovative"), it's got a pretty decent storytelling mechanism, and if you have a DS, you should definitly get this game.

last night, i painted a Moogle to look like adolf hitler. just for giggles. yes, you can still paint Moogles.

There's a pick out of the four species again, but the job system got kicked in the head somewhere along the line - not that you need it, who the f*** got to make anything out of the job system in the first Crystal Chronicles? There's some nice quests in multiplayer that you can tackle alone, or with friend, but you can't tackle them all alone so you'll have to beat a friend until his eyes change place or he coughs up enough lung to buy FFCC for the DS (and a DS if he hasn't got one yet).

This is one of those few gems that shows what TRUE multiplayer RPG fun is all about. Side note: this entire paragraph should be read "MMORPG's f*cking s*ck."

It's fun, it's challenging, and you can stand on a twisty thingy and you can look at your armor because your look changes (slightly) when you equip new shizzle. also, a clever new way of efficient yet simple item and magic use not only builds to more fun and smoother flow of the adventure, but also builds to some very smart puzzles.

The only thing i can't say yet is the duration of the story mode. I hope, with all the voices and cutscenes and the limited capacity of the DS cartridges, that there's at least 60 hours of game play in it... Anyone finished it yet? PM me with your time. ;)

What I've read is a 12 hours or so on the Story mode but with at least one friend who has a DS and FFCCRoF you can pretty up it to 60 hours, doing quests, dungeons, more quests, the last three dungeons and painting Moogles.

It's horrible when that happens!

Not a bad review, concise without leaving too much out. I would have liked to know a bit more about the plot, but that's just me.

You have a clear style, which is another plus. Keep writing, I'll look forward to reading more reviews.

I may have to give this game another go. I started it up and saw the 8 year old main characters and found I just couldn't get into it, because of that. It may seem shallow, but I couldn't help it. Sometimes, it's ok.. (i.e. Psychonauts), but this game just seemed to have way too much fun with the fact that these are small children we're dealing with. I felt like they weren't dangerous warriors/wizards, etc.. but small little objects I could punt and be done with.. and still be home on time for dinner.

Also, I should note.. I did not play the GBA version.. but I do love me some Final Fantasy. I'll have to give it another go. I bought it and several other games at once.. and just threw FFCC aside and forgot to look back.

Don't bump your own things, especially when it's only been fourteen minutes. We'll comment when we want to, and not a picosecond before. Patience. Build it, and they will come.

You could use a bit more...content in the review. BUT, I quite like your style. 'Breathless', if I had to sum it up in one word, like someone reviewing a game after necking some speed. What fun. It did feel like a bit of a fangush, though: perhaps review something you have slightly more mixed feeling s on next time?

3 days and 14 minutes you mean!

I do agree with Gigantor though, bumping your own stuff is pretty bad form. I commented because I believe in encourage people to write rather than chastising them for minor infractions, but some people might react badly..

Oh, yeah. Counting = hard. How easy it is to lose track of three days if you're not paying attention.

Of course, you don't need to bump your own piece when people keep on asking you not to bump it yourself. Curse you, irony!

Keep on asking me to not bump it? Nobody asked, said, or even motioned anything before the bump. that's why i bumped.

I never usually bump my own stuff. but i really wanted a thought on this, and it was off the first page of user reviews.

For the Content, I can just lay out the story for you but this is one that's pretty sweet and simple, just giving you a couple of hints would ruin it for you. When you play it, you'll see it unfold for yourself, it's obvious at the best times and revealing at all the others.

but they DO grow up, pretty quickly, too. There's some reward in it when you backtrack and there's no guessing in this game. It's logical and straightforward, and it rewards you for being thorough.

I could tell you about the story, but I won't. I don't want to spoil it for you. I couldn't explain the story to you in a way by which you'd appreciate it, because it's not so much about the story that is but the way that it's presented.

This is the reason I'm sticking with Nintendo. Their Seal of Quality stands for Win.

Usually I just review movies for a school paper but I thought I'd give this a try. Last movie I reviewed was No Country For Old Men. Loved everything about it except for the last scene. Awesome set up into an awesome letdown. It's like getting it on with the girl of your dreams in her back door only to come to climax while simultaneously noticing she has a bigger penis than you.

1. Bumping isn't allowed on the Escapist (Last I checked)

2. FFX and I believe X2 had Moogles, find the pics yourself I don't ascribe to the "Pics or it didn't happen" belief. At the VERY least, Lulu had a couple moogle fetishes (Foci, not perverse sexual obsessions...)

3. You mention a bunch of how you like the game, but little about what you like or why, after reading this whole review I know little about the game except that I can paint Moogles.

A for effort, C for result, marks docked for using the word "Shizzle"

1 my bad. wont ever do it again.
2 oh. okay.
3 you run around, jumping onto stuff, flick switches, solve some object puzzles, and hit thing with a sword. and a hatchet. and some other stuff. there's magic in there too, and archery. It's the stuff that's boring to explain but really fun to do - i just thought i'd spare you guys of that.

Thats the stuff we look for here. Game recommendations and praise can be posted in "Gaming Discussion", but for the "reviews" forum, I've found people care more to hear what gameplay is like, what you do in the game, how is the AI, stuff like that. As I said before, a good effort, and knowing what you do now, your next review will much improve. Just don't say "Shizzle" : p

well at times the AI is shizzle, and I mean just that by that.

Your sidekicks are mostly helpless and I must admit I mostly use them as jumping aids, I jump on top of them to reach floors too difficult to reach otherwise (screw solving the puzzle, I take the shortcut!). the enemies crawl out of the ground and mostly they're quite slow and weak and repeated attacks usually work. when you figured out how to take one down the next million of them aren't going to be a problem. at all. some need magic, others just repeated whackings with your sword (insert random dickjoke here, then faceplant into a bed of nails), others need you to get around them cuz they block every attack you dish out anyway.

Apart from beating the shizzle out of baddies which i've formulated in such a way to piss off Khell there's the ever obvious object puzzles, there's some puzzles that need your race abilities (or that of your sidekicks, finally a legit reason to not have them die), there's magic puzzles, if you're feeling macGuyver-y you can hurl materia like magic balls at enemies like freakin' grenades, or if your pockets are full, hurl a magic ball, and jump on it and it heals you when it pops, saves you the trouble of using a healing ball from your pocket.

Also, the AI is kinda dumb and you can deduce their tactics of attack and defence really quickly - even if you're a retard you still got a decent chance as long as you don't try to manipulate the touchpad with your wiener - but when they gang up on you this is the time were the things get kinda spooky. Enemies in this game aren't like the others.

well, you hit them hard enough and they die, yes, but I mean to say that unlike being really tough on HP and low on ATK they're, like the heroes of most games, High on ATK and low on HP - and their HP is even higher in the multiplayer mode, for a nice extra since you're expected to have a friend by your side when you're playing multiplayer. This way they don't die too quickly.

AI only bothers you if you set some standards before you start but just dive into the game and the AI will surprise you, even if only barely.

It has what it needs and it leaves out whatever could be but probably wouldn't.

Now then. Should I Yahtzee it and tear down the things I DIDN'T like about FFCCRoF ?
