On the Record Posts: 5977 Joined: 7 Feb 2008 | The right man for the job is Gigantor. EDIT: I was apparently typing this at the exact same time as The Monopoly Guy... |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1180 Joined: 25 Jan 2008 | Gigantor immediately springs to mind. He's written several excellent reviews on the website in a thoroughly meticulous way and despite beating me in the GTAIV review contest (grr), he thoroughly deserves a chance. And I'm not a kissass, he's just good, okay? :D EDIT: And I was writing at the same time as you guys! |
Press Junketeer Posts: 432 Joined: 4 Jan 2008 | Darn, I doubt I post enough reviews for anybody to consider me. But the one whose reviews and articles I look forward to the most is Khell Sennet. |

Good question. Added the answer (written, not video) to the original post. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 594 Joined: 26 May 2008 | I'm sorry, Susan, I'm not available.
My vote goes for T_r_o_a_e because he's rants seem to make sense. Plus, I owe him some money from that time in Vegas when---WOAH, I'm thinking out loud again. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 816 Joined: 19 Dec 2007 | Crap. Knew I should have reviewed more games. Ah well. I'll toss in a vote for Gigantor. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 4436 Joined: 14 Jan 2008 | This was always going to go to our last review contest winner, Gigantor. Or if you want to "keep it in the family" nil is fairly awesome as well. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 863 Joined: 22 Jun 2008 | I'll have to add to the multitude of Gigantor votes. I'm not voting for myself, not because I have low self-esteem, but because Gigantor is just so good. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1566 Joined: 5 Dec 2007 | Go go Gigantor! His Alone in the Dark review wasn't just the best one of the game out there, but one of the better reviews I have read period. Unfortunately he is currently in a 1080 hour drinking session. I might try submitting one myself, my Baldurs Gate II one is one of the most posted in on the entire forums anyhow. ;) |
King of the Yetis Posts: 2539 Joined: 15 Jul 2008 | A great idea. It'll improve the quality of the reviews section no end; I'd quite happily cut my own throat for a review spot but I have to recommend Gigantor purely for his Viking review. |
Muckraker Posts: 228 Joined: 16 Nov 2007 | Since I'm not going to be thinking with my ego and voting for the best guy (In my opinion) in town, I vote Gigantor. Because you can't have enough votes. |

Are you accusing the Escapist of nepotism? :P |

Inbreeding. |

On the Record Posts: 5674 Joined: 2 Dec 2007 | I think we're all voting him not only because of his reviews, it's just that he had something like this comming for a long time. There are plenty of great reviewers on the Escapists level with Gigantor, but he's sort of needed to review like this for a while. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 3786 Joined: 29 Dec 2007 |
And he's the only one of us who doesn't mock bad reviews. If you did it once Gigantor's got you beat. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1566 Joined: 5 Dec 2007 | I also like Rentcavaliers reviews, quite excelent actualy. |
Red Guard Posts: 2672 Joined: 16 Dec 2007 | Tendo82 is quite an excellent reviewer. I recommend him highly. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2166 Joined: 23 Dec 2007 | I recommend me because I have experience doing freelance work. I've done a bit of everything including V8 Supercars round previews, written stuff on the Trade Practices Act, Hockey Match reports for Hockey WA, Film Festival write-ups and everything in between. Oh, sorry, I meant Gigantor. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1689 Joined: 19 Jul 2008 | I'd recommend myself but it doesn't really interest me. I'll just keep my reviews until I reach an age were I can wave them in some big magazines face until they give me a job. I'll just jump on the Gigantor recommending bandwagon here. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 391 Joined: 31 Oct 2007 | Well my first choice would also be he who stands head and shoulders over us mere mortals, the genetically different Mr Gigantor but I would also like to give honourable mentions to some of the other reviews who have impressed me, Sammyfreak, Nilcypher and PurpleRain. I also enjoyed the first attempt by Decoy Doctorpus though I'd like to read more by him before I could seriously recommend him. And it you can ever actually get him to post one Wilsonscrazybed, his Crysis review was very enjoyable and has left me continually meaning to get the Russian language patch. |

You mean Gigantor, Hey Joe and Tendo82 right? |
Time Lord Posts: 10101 Joined: 13 Feb 2008 | I'd like to put myself forward on the basis I actually enjoy it; and that no-one else is likely to do it for me. :) |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 623 Joined: 28 Jul 2008 | I'm new, so I won't be pretentious enough to suggest my candidature, I will just go with the flow and follow the majority. Not only that, but I have a sad tendency not to buy new games when they're out, so my opinions on games are more than often outdated, not to say way outdated. Otherwise, I currently do not have the intarwebs at home, and I'm quitting my job on Friday evening, so my internet presence will be so scarce during August that I think if everyone suggests Gigantor, then it's the best option. |

Good luck with that. |
On the Record Posts: 5977 Joined: 7 Feb 2008 | RentCavalier has done some pretty good reviews, I would also suggest myself but I am nowhere near prolific enough, I was proud of my Final Fantasy XII review... but nobody read it hence I cannot judge the quality of the work and well, nobody read it so I can't be that good. |

Screw it, I'll vote for myself too. ;) |

It's true! At least, it was true. I'm back now, and hoping to type some more stuff. Apart from jumping on my own bandwagon and blowing my own trumpet (Yoga. Nuff said), I'd say nilcypher, Hey Joe or Tendo82. If I had to choose one, nilcypher. Anyhoo, thanks for the kind words, y'all. I'll probably only need half a bottle of gin to get to sleep tonight. |

The process of submitting community reviews has been changed. Instead of nominating user reviews you find in the forums, send us your reviews directly to communityreviews@escapistmag.com . All questions, suggestions, etc. can also be sent to this e-mail. We'll be locking this thread for now, but please keep sending us your user reviews!
As you may have (hopefully) noticed, The Escapist has expanded its offerings to include weekly game reviews, and we're looking to you, the community, to help us in that endeavor.
We're hoping to feature one Guest Reviewer each week, whose review will be placed on the front page with the rest of our reviews.
Now, to answer some questions that are likely coming:
1. No, this is not a paid gig. But if a reviewer shows that he or she is talented and reliable, he very well may be elevated to the "big leagues" and land himself a paycheck.
2. Guest Reviewers will have to provide their own games, at least at first. Guest Reviewers will therefore not be assigned specific games to review. They can, however, pitch games they would like to cover. So if you've picked up Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and want to tell us if it's worth our cash, feel free to pitch that review to us.
3. Guest Reviewers will be expected to follow the same rules and guidelines as the rest of the Review staff, such as word limits, formatting and style. To get a general idea of this, just read any of our staff reviews.
4. These are for written reviews, not video. You do not need to include images with the review.
5. Please keep your reviews limited to games that have come out in the past year. Ports of old games to new consoles are allowed.
6. When sending your review, make sure to send it as an attached document. Also, do not forget to include your Escapist username, e-mail address and full name.
