While searching the vast wasteland which is the internet, I found people in forums speaking of this series (about 11 games now), I got curious and found the game, what I found was wonderful

"Church chorus in the background"

So touhou is an arcade shooter from japan, the one scrolling upwards while you control your aircraft and scroll through the level until reaching the boss, but there is a twist, you aren't controlling an aircraft but a young girl, usually shooting some king of magic, your enemies are also young girls which like you shoot at you and it is a curtain fire game, where you get shot by hundreads of bullets in the same time and evasion is crucial for survival.

It is much better than it sounds.

The gameplay is fun, just straight fun, dodge shots and hope your shots hit the enemy, you need to collect powerups to make battles easier like more damage and extra lives and this game's bomb-magical spells. The game is very hard even on easy difficulty but still fun, and practicing is crucial. One of the nice features is that by pressing shift your character will move slower and your shots will focus, dealing more damage, I can't start telling how it is important is to use it, also, your pressing it will show you your hit box-a tiny circle, this makes evasion much easier and possible.

The story is, well, nowhere, even if you download a patch for english in the game you won't find an epic adventure, usually something is wrong and you need to fix it, with the maximum of damage possible, and the villain usually isn't aware of the damage and had good intentions.

The graphics is beautiful: the characters portrait are cute and in game graphics are nice, the attacks the bosses use are specifially well made and look marvelous, even if it's still a giant wall of death.

And then there's the music, Oh god the music! If ears could have an orgasm......well you get my point, you'll love every second you play just for the music, there are many tracks and all are excellent (especially the boss's), if I could rate the game's music I'd give it 1000 out of 10, it's that good.

Bottom line: Play it, NOW!

On the short, I'd say not enough. Games like these are hard to describe and rate because they're very aesthetic, but it's always better to include things if they're important. What you have here is very, very minimal and doesn't provide enough detail to really accurately portray the review.

Otherwise, just making a comment to ask someone to read over for grammar, as it's a teensy bit rampant in this piece. Nothing crushing, just helpful.

Otherwise, it's a good start for a review, but needs more work overall.

Also, just footnoting to say the Touhou series is designed for a Japanese audience, and definitely goes along the line of shooters that most out-of-country players aren't even aware of. Ah... Shmups.

Defintly seems like one of those bullet-hell games specifically designed for the so hardcore they can get past the hardest diffficulty with one finger in a contortionist pose.

It is much better than it sounds. (My biggest complaint is already summarized by this sentence. Despite this being the longest paragraph in the review, it hardly summarizes what the series is about. Had I not be familiar with the series before going into this review, I would be even more confused at this point. The point of a review is to enlighten the reader for what service/product they're considering, not confuse them even further.)

Ouch man, Ouch, I didn't really made an article, just expressed my thoughts.

I forgot to mention, the game is very nice to play even if you don't want to be "hardcore", nice break from the easy games this day.

Touhou's not quite bullet hell. Not in the way that Mushihimesama is. It's generally a little slower than that, but is good training for bullet hell.

Bullet-Hell Lite?!?!? That's an incredible turn-on.

Why is it every other post in this forum is a review of the fucking review? This is not a discussion forum, just give your own opinion on the subject and don't nitpick somebody else's review.

Well, I like your style but yeah, it is kind of short, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I feel you could've elaborated a bit more, maybe added a little bit about the control layout (simple? complicated? I'm assuming it's simple but still, it's worth a note, even if it's just for the extra words).

Perhaps a small description of the playability (can you even see your character under all the visual effects? Though, you did mention it was very difficult, what makes it difficult?).

A picture or two with perhaps a humorous caption could do wonders.

Also, it would be nice if you could put in a bit about what you didn't like about the game, or what you think someone else might not like.

edit: and the reasons why you liked it anyway.

About the game, I'm addicted to anime so this sounds worth at least checking out =)

6.5/10: it's decent but you could improve, you got me interested at least :D

Well, for your questions, the control scheme is simple, move with arrow-keys, Z to shoot, X for bomb and shift to slow down.

It's pretty playable, you'll have easy time seeing your character, and it's difficulty is with the bullet storms heading towards you.

I can't really put what you can hate with it, it is a little frustrating even on the lower difficulties but it's pure fun.

I have trouble loading images, and probably it's for the best since it could frighten people (since most are taken on high levels).

Well, on top of what the other people here have said, I want to question the title. I for one have heard of Touhou, as have many other people, I would imagine. So by saying that you've probably never heard of it limits your audience somewhat (a problem I admittedly share).

Sounds awful. It also sounds like you only like it because it's from Japan and not many people of heard of or played it.

Touhou games are very well regarded among people who like shmups. They tend to go for intricate bullet patterns, sometimes designed as much for visual appeal as to kill the player.

And, of course, there's the mad plots, gothic character designs, and general weirdery.

Touhou games are actually extremely popular in Japan, and who wouldn't want to be carpet bombed by hundreds of thousands of flaming pink bullets?

It does sound like that, but the hit box is only a couple of pixels in size so it's not SUPER impossible, just very hard >___>

I only know them from their soundtracks, which generate alot of traumatic videos on Youtube.

Plus in the later games you get a few milliseconds of "mercy" after you've been hit in which if you use a spell card you don't die.

My biggest problem with Touhou is that the latest few don't like my arcade stick, and these games are infinitely more better with an arcade stick than a keyboard.

Xbox port plz ZUN.
