(4) Valve vs. (8) Rare Ltd.:

Valve: Valve walks through yet another round untouched and fully charged up. With votes like this, does Valve have what is takes to go all the way?
Rare: Rare easily bumps Turn 10 from the tournament, giving it a shot at pushing Valve to the "defeated" section.

Again, I ended up voting by the clock as I can't decide any other way; Rare has brought me more hours of eyestrain than Valve, at least so far, so Rare gets my vote.

Still, it'll be hard for them to gain more votes than the vocal Valve community.

valve wins this one from me hands down. My first voyages into pc gaming as a 13 year old were on valve games, and today, at 25 years old, Im still playing Team fortress 2 and being awed at half life 2. Valve runs deep with me

I've more fond memories of Rare games than Valve games. So, Rare gets my vote.

..not that it'll likely matter. I restate that Valve will likely win this tournament, given the community here.

I was praying that these 2 wouldn't meet. This is the battle for gaming hearts and minds I think as they're both deeply beloved players in the industry.

I'm more torn that Natalie Imbruglia fighting one of the jesters from FFIX in a scissor factory.

Rare! For Goldeneye! For Diddy Kong Racing! For Perfect Dark Zero!

No, wait!

Valve! For Half Life! For Portal! For Team Fortress 2!

Well, I admit if I was ten years younger, I'd be opting for Rare here; as they would still be sawing away at my social life. Unfortunately, times have changed and now I spend my time on TF2 with my friends. So Valve it is.

Valve is the superior developer, I don't think anyone can argue against that.

Due to the fact that I loved Rare's N64 games, I vote for them.

I love Valve's games, but the fanboyism has been getting kind of annoying, so I almost voted against Valve, but then I remembered how annoying it was when people dismissed halo simply because it's more popular than it should be. Valve.

Rare's developed a number of great games, but I was overwhelmed by Half-Life's (albeit scripted) AI and level design. It's unfortunate, however, that most of Valve's other Half-Life titles weren't able to impress me quite like the original (though Episode 2 wasn't bad).

The Orange Box was a breath of fresh air once it was released. Team Fortress 2 presented players with a well balanced multiplayer shooter featuring a wide variety of characters with distinct personalities, while Portal gave us a challenging, but not impossibly difficult gaming experience. What's more, Valve showed us with these two titles that even action and puzzle games can benefit from a healthy dose of humor.

While I don't exactly like the idea of needing an internet connection to play some of my single player games, I do like how Steam's given some older and independent games some much deserved exposure via Steam's online store.

Hm... Do I embrace my love for Orwellian Dystopias or my love for anthropomorphic animals (See Star Fox: Adventures)?

I'll go with Valve. Though their Episodic games are rather slow to appear, they are still amazing, and without Valve Gmod wouldn't exist. HL2 is still the best game they've made though.

No wait, Portal's the best game they've made. Either way, I join the ranks of crowbar-wielding mute scientists.

In the meantime, this is where I get off.

A good set of games from both sides.
Rare does a lot of stuff that's fun for everyone, while Valve (I think) has a ridiculously strong hold on a more adult audience. The people who love Valve's games are probably going to take it in a run though.
