Fury Is Me.:
A man has been standing in front of you house for 6 months. He hasn't moved from the spot, slept, nor eaten. One day, you woke up to find he was gone. Who was this man?

He's a snowman that melted because spring came.

CORRECT!
Revolver got it right first but he doesn't post riddles... Sooo...

A group of people with assorted eye colors live on an island. They are all perfect logicians -- if a conclusion can be logically deduced, they will do it instantly. No one knows the color of their eyes. Every night at midnight, a ferry stops at the island. If anyone has figured out the color of their own eyes, they [must] leave the island that midnight. Everyone can see everyone else at all times and keeps a count of the number of people they see with each eye color (excluding themselves), but they cannot otherwise communicate. Everyone on the island knows all the rules in this paragraph.

On this island there are 100 blue-eyed people, 100 brown-eyed people, and the Guru (she happens to have green eyes). So any given blue-eyed person can see 100 people with brown eyes and 99 people with blue eyes (and one with green), but that does not tell him his own eye color; as far as he knows the totals could be 101 brown and 99 blue. Or 100 brown, 99 blue, and he could have red eyes.

The Guru is allowed to speak once (let's say at noon), on one day in all their endless years on the island. Standing before the islanders, she says the following:

"I can see someone who has blue eyes."

Who leaves the island, and on what night?

This is a really hard riddle but I think it's really interesting so good luck.

i don't see the riddle in this story.... who leaves? as in what color eye they have, then no one leaves cause everyone see someone with blue eyes. IDK.... i guess that is my guess, NO ONE

each person tells another person their eye color. What I mean is that person A tells person B what person B's eye color is and person B does the same for person A. This happens for each person so they all leave.
probably wrong but if i'm right, somebody else give a riddle.

Wrong and wrong.
They can't communicate.

The ferry leaves The Island every single night. Is that the correct answer or did I miss it?

The Gurus statement makes them repeat this about those around them.

They all leave, that night.
They all know their eye colours because the guru makes them say it.

They all leave, except the Guru I suppose.

They all think that the Guru was speaking to them, and regardless of if it's right or not, they all think they have blue eyes.

The only other solution I can think of is that someone grows half a brain and looks at their reflection in the water.

Huh. I never woulda thought of that. It sounds like the right answer, let's wait and see....

If the guru is only addressing a portion of the islanders, and that portion may only have one person with blue eyes in it, all the people there will be able to deduce instantly their eye colour and leave that night. The following day the 99 remaining blue eyed people will realize that they can see no people with brown eyes, and knowing that one blue eyed person left the night prior, they will conclude that the remaining mass, including them and excluding the guru, have blue eyes. The guru has no idea what clour eyes she has, so she will be left on the island forever

Also ARRRGH. Just found an AWESOME answer on Yahoo! Answers, and it makes so much more sense than mine, even if it is a bit harder to wrap your head around

Nobody's got it right yet...but DarthAchaeron was sort of close.

what can you take but never run out of

Hey "Gypsy ninja pirate zombie king" how about reading the rules of the thread before posting?

The Guru lines everyone up before speaking, so that all the blue eyed people are facing one direction, and all the brown eyed people are facing the other, and they alternate. So people with blue eyes can only see people with brown eyes, and people with brown eyes can only see people with blue eyes. The guru is looking in the same direction as the people with brown eyes are looking, so she can only see people with blue eyes.

When the Guru says she can see someone with blue eyes, all the people with brown eyes will know that she has oriented people a certain way, and will look at each other and see that all they can see are people with brown eyes, will know they have brown eyes, and will leave, as will the person the Guru was talking directly to. The next day, the remaining 99 people will look at each other and notice that they all have blue eyes, and they will leave. The Guru will remain forever.

No, they're in no particular order and they can't talk about their eye colour.

Ohhhh, my math teacher made me do this in year 11...
Took me like a week.

haha

Im just taking a stab in the dark out of logically reasoning, but my guess is no one leaves.

Damn my inferior math/logic skills >_>

All the people with blue eyes would know they had blue eyes because everyone else would look at them. So they would leave first. Right? Idunno seems like it.

Can I take another stab at it?
Writing it our is going to take forever, and I can't really explain it properly, so i'm just going to be a bad mathematician and say 100 blues leave on the 200th night, and 100 browns leave on the 300th

All 100 blues leave on the 100th night.

This riddle has been up for nearly a month. Can we all agree on getting the answer and moving onto something new?

yeah pleeeaase

or someone post the yahooanswers answer =_=

Just a shot in the dark here, but seeing as they are on an island, could they all not just look at they're reflection in the water?

treeboy027:
All 100 blues leave on the 100th night.

That's the right answer. And all the brown-eyed people leave the next day...sorry I didn't post this earlier guys...my internet was down for a bit.

ok hears a new riddle what can you take but never lose

All right, then it's my turn. This is a riddle I wrote in the true sense of riddling, so it's pretty difficult. Well here it is:

It spends its nights upon a stand,
And if you plan, it lends a hand.
What is it?

Would it be a lamp?

The Pink Panther Diamond

a shot in the dark here, one of those old fashioned quill pens?

brain?
