Two years after their last encounter with vampires, Mel got a message from Hailey. She sent out a covert message to her friends and a couple of other hunters she had met on the road. She had to be careful. Ever since their killing of the constable, they had all been wanted for murder. Getting caught would be bad, but getting caught now would be even worse. She went to an abandoned bar to wait for her friends. Only they would know to look for her here, so she had nothing to worry about. Of course, if a guard got the uncoded message she had sent to the other hunters...no, she couldn't think of that. She could not be caught now. They were far too close to getting the upper hand once and for all. Even if it cost some of them their lives, their freedom, and made them look like common criminals, nothing could get in their way. She pulls out a miniature crossbow with one hand, waiting in suspense.
A rather attractive young girl enters, about seventeen years old, she has a longsword at her side "Uh... hello?"
Mel points her crossbow at her. "Oh...it's you." She relaxes and puts the crossbow down. "You get my message?"
Jenna looks at the odd looking woman "Yes... do I know you?"
"No...but we are both of the same profession...vampire hunter."
Jenna thinks about leaning aginst a wall, but takes into consideration the good chance of it collapseing on her, she instead takes a step forward "I see, why did you summon me here."
"I'll explain after the others show up. Want a drink? Believe it or not, they are new."
Jenna holds out a palm "No thanks... I don't drink"
Mel smiles faintly. "Neither did I, until a couple years ago." She stands up.
Jenna relaxes a little "I see... listen, do you- no, nevermind"
Mel sits on the counter, waiting patiently, one hand inside her cloak.
A man enters the pub, he is tall, clean shaven though most of his hair has already gone gray making him seem much older than he is.
"I'll explain later. There are three more that need to come. Suffice to say, it is of great importance."
Then man nods and walks in taking a seat.
"Want a drink? It's on the house."
The man smiles at the thought of a cold drink.
"What'll it be? We have plenty of drinks." She goes behind the counter.
He shrugs | |
Jenna watches this, she slightly shakes her head
She gets them both something to drink. "Here's to being on the run."
Jenna's head jolts up "What?"
"I thought you knew. I've been on the run for the last two years because I helped kill a constable who happened to be responsible for an outbreak of vampirism."
Jenna looks at the woman, suprise in her eyes "...oh, that's news"
He raises his glass | |
She drinks it. "However long that will be with our profession."
A man knocks on the door before entering. "Hello again," Orin says as he slides through the doorway. "Ah, Melianara, you are inseparable from the word trouble in my mind. I suppose you won't tell me just what the trouble is until we've all arrived though will you?" He bows slightly to her and then sneers. "Who might these two be? Look human enough."
Jenna smiles as another person enters "My name is Jenna, it's nice to meet you"
"They are other hunters, Orin. And no, I won't. And it's not my fault we're on the run. Blame the guards who raised the alert. Unless you regret killing that monster."
The man turns around and looks at the new man.
Orin raises his eyebrows, bows slightly and offers his upturned hand to Jenna. "Orin Lark."
