Khedive Rex:
Does anyone mind the slower approach?

I don't, but I hope that this doesn't die like last time. 2 day intervals seems good enough to cover every time zone.

I thought we were going pretty slow before, but I'm a pretty patient guy.

In so many words, I don't mind, either.

I'm not sure what would be considered slow being that I've never done an RP on here before. So I don't particularly mind.

Just FYI:

I will be gone for the next two days; due to circumstances of which I cannot control. Therefore, if you intend to start the game over the weekend, I will not be able to post. Start without me; introduce me later.

Same, I'm seeing the Mighty Boosh live over the weekend, so I won't be on until Sunday evening, I imagine.

As Krunk said, I'm happy to be left out until later.

That is, unless Rex is finally, finally going to recognise the genius of my other character, at which point it won't matter.

Come on Rex, you know it makes awesome sense.

Fig: I'm alright with a slow rp. I just hope everyone remembers to post.
Cassendella: Well i'm not.
Fig: Not what?
Cassendella: I'm not alright with a slow rp.
Fig: Why not?
Cassendella: It becomes boring then.
Fig: It doesn't matter if you don't like it slow. You've been out voted anyways. Also, my time is Mountian time if you had forgotten Rex. I don't blame you if you did though.
Cassendella: Well i do.
Fig: Quiet. Also, stop being a jerk to everyone, and don't mess with rex.
Cassendella: Fine.

OverlordSteve

Name: Jonathan Smith (Assumed Name)
Detailed Explanation of Power: Jonathan has the power of Mind Control. When he wills it, eye contact with a person will force the target into a trance. During the trance they are completely incapacitated and will act upon any order they are given if the order is given by Jonathan. His power is able to force people to do things they would not normally do. (E.G: Jon can make the happiest person in the world commit suicide) When the order is carried out, they return to normal. They remember everything that happened while they were in the trance unless Jonathan orders them to forget.
Appearance: Jonathan Smith took his current name so as to become hard to pick out, his appearance corresponds with that desire. His normally wears a simple, dark green hooded sweatshirt with regular jeans. His shoes are black sneakers. The only defined article of clothing he owns is a purple armband he wears on his left arm.
Personality: Outside of a fight, Jonathan is calm and aloof. While in a fight he finds great pleasure in manipulating his enemies with his mind control. He's also surprisingly confident that he cannot be beaten in a fight.
Background: "Jonathan Smith" has no background. His previous life is unknown. (Yay for cop-outs!)
Motivation: Jonathan is a vigilante. He'll often show up at the scene of the bank robbery, mess with the heads of the robbers until he becomes board and orders them to wait to be arrested. He will then take a tenth of the money they were robbing as payment.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
Strengths: Mind control allows him to easily dominate his enemies and control the flow of any fight.
Weaknesses: Smith isn't physically adept, he has very little stamina. If anyone in the Mind-Control trance isn't given an order for ten seconds, they break free of the trance. When someone comes out of a trance, their brain is instantly prepared to combat another attempt at Mind-Control, thus Smith has to wait until his enemy is mentally off-guard again (essentially a cool-down time).

Amnestic

Name: Graham Wolf
Detailed Explanation of Power: Pyrokinesis- In essence the ability to make things spontaneously combust by thinking it. Of course his powers have some restrictions on what exactly he can combust (water, for example, is non combustible) and how large an area he can use his abilities on, however due to fire's nature of spreading and consuming more and more, he can often make large areas of land ignite. As far as smaller or less conventional uses go, Graham is often seen with a small feline composed entirely of fire nearby, sometimes perched on Graham's head, shoulder or resting comfortably in his arms. It has no life of its own and does what Graham wills it to do, however he is rarely seen without his fiery companion. It is assumed he could do the same with other animals and perhaps more of them, however he hasn't yet had cause to do so. Strangely the feline, though made of fire, does not set anything it touches alight or even singe the floor where it steps. Often he will click his fingers while igniting things, however this is for show, both his and other people's, as all he needs to do is think to set things alight.

Appearance:

Personality: Contrary to the clichéd fire user's personality that can be summed up as "crazy arsonist", Graham is actually a fairly calm individual, taking things slowly and methodically. He's a fairly jolly person who's willing to take a joke, cut loose and generally have a laugh with people however he has been known to occasionally lose his marbles and start setting everything in sight on fire. This only occurs very rarely however and is generally followed by Graham becoming a recluse for the following weeks.
Background: Graham grew up in a normal family with two loving parents, an older sister and a younger brother. For the most part, life was good, and for the most part it still is for them. Graham moved out at 16 to get his own place. He had a part time job at a restaurant as a chef, mostly due to his unique abilities, which he enjoyed for a time until the Red Hand came to call. Growing tired of his monotonous chef's job of heating meat up to cook and being a glorified oven, he decided it was time for a change. Now 18, Graham generally quite enjoys doing tasks for the Red Hand, though at times they bore him into a daydream. He has yet to locate any of the elusive explosive barrels he was always told about, however he constantly keeps his eyes peeled in the hope that he can one day use his abilities on one to see what exactly happens.
Motivation: Boredom, mostly. He's got super powers and his chef's job was beginning to become tedious. He doesn't feel any particular loyalty to the Red Hand, however equally he's got no real reason to leave it while they continue to provide him with money and entertainment.
Strengths and Weaknesses: Areas with high humidity such as sewers pretty much castrate Graham's powers. Similarly he can't use them underwater or in areas with little oxygen. Due to humans being 80%~ water, it's all but impossible to burn them from the inside (though a few sparks up the colon have been known to thoroughly irritate). For the most part his attacks are focused on the outer parts of the body and if they are covered he finds it difficult to have any effect. He does, however, find it easy to destroy buildings, especially if the buildings house a gas tank anywhere. On occasion he's been known to carry around a bandolier of Molotov cocktails (though made from metal rather than plastic to avoid accidental breakages), and these have been used to great effect when in conjunction with his abilities, effectively creating an explosive shrapnel Molotov. Dry areas are where Graham flourishes, his ability restrictions pretty much vanish when he is in a dry place and he can almost everything alight with ease.

thebobmaster

Name: Aileen Anemoi

Detailed Explanation of Power: She has the ability to control wind, causing gusts of wind with the ability to knock back opponents or guide the attacks of her allies.

Appearance: Long platinum blond hair, one green and one blue eye, slightly tanned, wearing a white leather jacket with a black shirt and matching pants, with black boots, usually has a blue pendant around her neck

Personality: She's a bit playful when it comes to fighting, occasionally letting out some James Bond-esque puns. However, outside of a fight, she is alternately shy and a deadpan snarker, depending on her current mood and state of exhaustion.

Background: She grew up normally, not knowing about her powers until they manifested during a fight she got into during her senior year in high school. A little frightened of her powers, she left her house and high school, wandering around, where she was found and approached by the Red Hand.

Motivation: She is motivated primarily by the fact that she is not alone in having strange powers, but also is concerned with the greater good.

Strengths and Weaknesses: She is more than able to hold back opponents, and possibly knock them out if it's a one-on-one fight or an area with walls. However, if there are several people ganging up on her in a wide open area, she can only hold them off, needing help from others to defeat them. Also, her powers require a good deal of concentration, so she can only maintain a gust of wind for a short period of time before she is unable to summon the appropriate concentration. She is somewhat naive and could be influenced by a smooth talker.

The Iron Ninja

Name:
The Iron Ninja

Detailed Explanation of Power:
Calling upon the knowledge of the mystical and ancient Ninja Chef clan, the Iron Ninja can call upon moderately sized armies of crabs (75-85 at the most, and that would be if I was being a prick and wanted to go completely overboard), the crabs in question are about the size of the one seen on my avatars shoulder (not actual size, but as a comparison to how big they would be compared to the average human) and generally move rather slowly, there will be no magical crab teleportations, so any crabs I need will have to either be from nearby, or will have to travel around with the Iron Ninja just in case. Their strength comes mainly from numbers, though a low level henchman/thug would have trouble against two or three of them.
Also I have Gerald, he counts as one of the crabs and there is nothing special about him other than the fact that he sits on my shoulder and can talk, but in any confrontations, I would prefer it if the opposing party simply makes Gerald do a team rocket and be blown away rather than killed, as I have grown rather attached to the little fellow.

Appearance:
Well i could just say "see avatar" and be done with it, but that would be mean.
A dark grey outfit, built for cold mountainous climates (ie. a secret mountain-top temple in Japan), jeans for some reason, two layers of face masks (neither have eye holes) and a chef hat.
I also have a crab named Gerald on my shoulder at all times.

Personality:
Really, really likes crabs.
Speaks in a loud voice at all times, this is mostly so that people will hear him through his dual masks, but he will not make adjustments to the volume of his voice when his masks are off (which for hilarity's sake I've decided will be quite often).
Quick to jump into confrontations, will request duels with even the closest of allies over the most trivial things (such as telling him not to shout).
Heavily protective of Gerald.

Background:
(This is possibly large portions of the bio I made for the ratings war, but will addition's, and changing the name.)

The Iron Ninja's parents threw him out of the hospital window five days after he was born. It was not the best of starts for young Iron Ninja, for whom life would not be easy for the years to come either. He spent his first few years of life in the company of shrews. Hunting and eating earthworms, beetles, mice and the occasional bird. He grew quickly, and soon the Shrews could not catch enough to feed him, so he set out on the great journey that continues for him to this day.
By chance one day, he stowed away aboard a ship heading for the mystical Island of Japan. Once there he quickly became known for his epic battles with the various robots, giant mutant animals and (reputedly) Domo. It was apparently Domo, once bested in combat, that saw the potential for this young boy (barely five years of age). He took young Iron Ninja to a secret mountaintop temple, where an old and wizened man had been waiting. He saw that Iron Ninja was the boy that he had been waiting for all these years straight away, and immediately began to tutor him in the ancient and mystical art of Cooking-based Ninjitsu. The Iron Ninja learnt quickly, and after seven years of learning he was ready to spread the justice of the Ninja Chef code. He set out to rid the world of tyranny and injustice with the legendary Spatula that was held in the temple for thousands of years, awaiting his arrival.
But unfortunately for Iron Ninja the world was now a very different place. Gone were the shoguns and the giant robots. Gone were the Samurai and radioactive animals. In their place were cars, Televisions and Portable computers, the world no longer had any use for Ninja. Dejected, he turned to his other love, cooking. He hosted a Japanese cooking show called "Iron Ninja Chef" for many years, before the sponsors grew tired of him beheading the contestants and removed the Ninja aspect of the show. The Iron Ninja, forcibly retired, spent his days in a one room apartment, watching old tapes of his former glory. Then one fateful afternoon while he was preparing a light breakfast, the crab he was about to cook suddenly started screaming "There's no place like home! There's no place like home!" whilst clicking it's hind legs together. This crab, it turned out, was called Gerald. With his help, the Iron Ninja soon rose above his depression and re-learned his old teachings, and with Gerald at his side, Crabs everywhere soon learnt the name "The Iron Ninja" and looked to him as a fellow crustacean. Such was their friendship that they vowed to protect their new, two legged friend to the death if necessary.

Motivation:
Gerald thought a job where he helped the community would be good for building Iron Ninja's character.

Strengths and Weaknesses:
+He's a freakin' Ninja
+His cooking can put 90% of the population to shame
+"snapping gesticulating red doom"
+Can slap people with his spatula, which (I am told) hurts a bit.
-Can't see or hear that well
-Easily strung along into confrontations
-Goes out of his way to protect Gerald
-Crabs are cumbersome creatures that are easily confused.

figment of mind

Name: Mika Hayashi

Detailed Explanation of Power: Has the ability to grow/control plants and materials made from plants. She needs no water to do this but may need some sunlight, depending on what type of plant it is.

Appearance: Green hair, Narrow blue eyes, Small nose, Natrally frowning mouth, Black sleeveless shirt, Black loose pants, White shoes, messanger bag full of her stuff and some seeds on her shoulder.

Personality: Shy, Very easy to tick off, Very generous.

Background: Origionally from Japan, Mika was raised in a nice part of ohio until her father got a better job in Memphis, Tennesse. They moved there and her father began getting more money instantly. Unfortunantly, her family had moved into a racist neighborhood and as a result, her family was always getting messed with by the locals. One day, she was walking home fom school when some of the local boys began messing with her. At first it was just name calling, but soon it began to escilate. They began pushing her around and before long she lost her temper and socked on of the boys in the mouth, making him lose his front teeth. Of course after that they began punching her and she kept fighting back. After a while Mika became too tired to fight back, and the boys took advantage of this. They kicked her when she fell down and then tied her to one of they're bikes. They then proceeded to drag her all around town, much to the locals joy, before cutting her loose and throwing her into a ditch near the power plant. She layed there for a while, reganing her energy and pondering about how she would get back at them for this when some of the waste from the plant fell off of the transport truck that was carrying it off to get rid of it. The waste fell on her and on the surrounding area, giving her a burning sensation on her skin and slowly mutating her to be like the other living things the waste coated. When it was over she got up and went home, deciding to go to the docters later. She soon made it home only to discover that her home was burned down by some of the people that hated them. She then threw a fit of rage and in the process, learned that she could control plants. She soon began learning the extent of her powers while looking for her family, not knowing if they had been killed by the fire or if they were okay. As soon as she finally mastered her powers she went and got revenge for her family by destroying the neighbors houses and seriously inguring the boys that hurt her. As soon as she did this, she decided to look for her family. After a few years of searching around and seeing all of the suffering that was caused by people to others, she decided to protect the weak in her own way while searching for her family. She has kept this going on for a few years(even joining up with a guy named Aodhan and fighting gangs) while traveling around the country. Her powers developed even further to include controling plant materials.

Motivation: To stop others from being cruel to the defenceless.

Strengths and Weaknesses: Strengths: The afor mentioned powers, Her ability to think on her feet, Her self developed fighting skills(some taken from reggie also), No need for soil to grow plants. Weaknesses: Needs much water, fire, her judgement gettingt clouded easily by emotion.

Spartan Bannana

Name: Sam Mason
Power: Sam can duplicate himself and others as well as objects, but every copy is not as strong, smart, fast, valuable, etc. as the original. The only way for anyone but Sam to get rid of the copies is to either kill them all, kill Sam, or knock him out.
Appearance: Sam is a tall muscular man who wears a biker gang style leather jacket over jeans and combat boots. He has short cut brown hair, a handlebar mustache and many tattoos.
Personality: Sam spends his money fast and loose, he'll do anything for an adrenaline rush and is very mean-spirited.
Backround: Sam was has had his powers since he was a kid, using them to pick on other children. He got his mother sent to an insane asylum after copying himself and playing a trick on her, she was described as mentally unstable when she kept claiming her son could be in more than one place at the same time. When he was a teenager he moved up to petty theft, one copy taking the victim's purse while another stayed to beat on the victim and the original watched from a safe distance. When he got older he began counterfeiting, making millions off of a single hundred dollar bill. He currently has a gang comprised completely of himself based in New York.
Motivation: Adrenaline
Strengths & Weaknesses:
+Good for large scale operations
+Physically fit
-Doesn't work well with others
-Fairly stupid

Johnn Johnston

Name: Johnathan Berkeley

Detailed Explanation of Power: Johnathan is able to make himself invisible at will. Whilst invisible, he is able to move about without even a shimmering of the air around him.

He is unaware of how he gained his power - be it due to radiation, genetic mutations or DNA manipulation. All he knows is that for the past half of a year he has been able to manipulate light so it can shaft around him and the area three or four centimetres around him. It gives him no offensive capabilities, however, but can be used as an effective means of entering and exiting an area without being detected.

Due to the nature of his power, it has a single flaw. If an object near him has a noticeable negative charge, his powers will be thrown off considerably. Not only will he become unable to remain invisible, but he will glow with light, making him anything but unseen.

Appearance: He is twenty-eight years old, with thick dark hair and darker eyes. He is noticeably lightly-built, and cannot rely on his own physical strength to solve a confrontation. As such, he prefers to go into any situation where violence might ensue either armed, or with someone who is.

Personality: John is more at home with a laptop than he is at a desktop. Whenever he is given a job, he always puts the minimal amount of effort into it as he can, yet bafflingly achieves more than his co-workers. No reason or explanation has been given for his mental agility, and John honestly does not want one.

It takes a lot to anger him, but John will immediately lose his temper if he senses being manipulated for an ulterior motive. At any time, he enjoys to be in control of the situation he is in, and will actively try to make himself the controller if at all possible.

Background: John has had quite an unremarkable life until only a few months ago. Born in London, he was put up for adoption when he was born for a reason he has yet to establish. No sibling was put up for adoption with him. Due to the obscurity of the adoption centre, he was never adopted but instead allowed to leave at the age of 16. After staying in youth hostels for two years, he won eight hundred thousand pounds in the lottery on a ticket he paid for with some change left over from the newspaper. He bought a small flat near the Isle of Dogs for a luckily low price, and from this position shimmied his way into business.

John took up a position as a stockbroker when he was nineteen. It was apparent that his aptitude for working out odds was beyond that of any other businessman of his young age, so quickly rose through the ranks. He soon found out an even more effective way of working out the odds - listening in on private conversations between businessmen.

During one such 'information-gathering session', John was listening in between two heads of a rival firm to attempt to learn their next move, so he could run them out of business. However, the bug he had set up was discovered, and he was trapped in the hotel's laundry room as he heard the furious men tracing the wire through the hotel. The door opened, and the two stockbrokers looked around and saw nothing. John had, for the first time in his life, become invisible.

Motivation: Money and/or justice. But money first - I mean, a man's gotta pay off his debts and get a new car, right?

Strengths and Weaknesses: John is very good at turning a situation around so he is in control. He can almost always talk his way out of trouble.
However, if he loses his temper, his power is no longer under his full control and his actions are erratic.

Sargent Toughie

Name: Armony

Power: matalla, her body can transform into a being made of metal, she is then able to manipulate the various parts of her body (At the moment all she can use are her arms) to her will

Appearance: in her normal human body she is a very attractive young lady... her nineteenth birthday is just around the corner at the time that the RP starts

Personality: She seems to be kindhearted for the most part... just don't get on her bad side and she is a reliable and trustworthy friend

History: Not much to say, she lived a fairly normal life untill one night, an odd lady paid her a visit while she was greaving the death of her brother, the lady explained that Armony had some sort of special blood in her veins and offered her a second skin of metal... with which she could use to bring those who make life more diffacult on other into justice. Armony says yes, and she is granted the power of Matalla

Strengths and weaknesses: She is limited to morphing her arms into different types of close quarters weapons, therefore she is completely useless at long range, but she has great amounts of speed to help compensate for this

Qayin

Name: Dr. Josiah Volkov

Detailed Explanation of Power: Dr. Volkov is a victim of his own synthetic mutagen. His general physical abilities are enhanced - he has higher constitution, agility and strength than a normal human - but the most notable effects of change in DNA is in his right arm.

This limb was the entry point of the mutagen, and the area most highly affected. The arm appears infected, sore and even rotted in places. Whilst the worst, most painful effect of the mutagen is shown in Dr. Volkov's right arm, it is also the strongest.

This 'infected' appendage is capable of rapid, incredible growth, adaptation and evolution - Josiah is able to force this arm to, through an incredibly painful process, grow and shape into a weapon, his rotted flesh the hilt, the warped and sharpened bone the blade. Be it a curved talon or an impaling spike, the effect is random, and not always incredibly beneficial. Most importantly, it is agonising - the process tears nerves, rips muscles and snaps bones; a high price to pay to make Dr. Volkov into a living weapon.

The effect is not permanent, however - in an equally painful process, the weapon can be retracted back into his 'normal' arm, meaning that he is only a glove away from appearing to be an average human being.

The mutagen has other, less notable or important effects, such as a much slower metabolism, slower aging, etc. but all are in some way beneficial; Dr. Volkov created it, after all, it should be nothing less than a product of genius.

Appearance: Dr. Josiah Volkov appears to be a man in his middle thirties, although several government databases have evidence of him researching during the Cold War from the age of 29, making this impossible.

With slicked, black hair, wild eyes, gaunt features, sterile-white lab coat and a singular black leather glove over a dark businessman's suit, Dr. Volkov looks like the lovechild of a mad scientist, and one of those mass-murderers who finally snaps after being fired, and shoots everyone in the office. Both could be a possibility, with Dr. Volkov.

He is in peak physical condition - more than likely a product of the mutagen, and appears very healthy for someone who injected himself with a volatile mutagen, providing the glove is on.

Background: Dr. Josiah Volkov performed numerous, ethically-questionable tests during the time of the Cold War...for both the Russians and Americans. Of mixed heritage, Dr. Volkov felt no patriotism for either side over the other, and settled for selling his results to the highest bidder.

A very rich, successful, yet undoubtedly immoral genius, Dr. Volkov crossed the line when he decided to play God. To take evolution, and make it his plaything.

A prize that both sides wanted but neither could afford, Josiah created his prize invention; Volkov's Mutagen, a product of genius in the design, but lacking creativity in the naming. Neither the USSR nor the USA were prepared to let this unknown weapon fall into enemy hands, and therefore neither were willing to risk bidding for it.

Both chose to send fully armed retrieval teams, and both governments seemed to have grown tired of Volkov's entrepreneurial, unethical research, as both teams were ordered to retrieve the mutagen through lethal force, if necessary.

When two groups of armed soldiers are shouting at you, whilst pointing guns at each other, as well as at your head, the lines of logic are blurred. For example, when faced with giving up his mutagen - the cumulative fruits of his life's research, or getting shot in the head, Volkov found it perfectly logical to take the unpredictable, unknown, volatile and dangerous mutagen, and inject it directly into his right arm.

Not only a mutant of very immoral origins, but also a murderer now, Josiah sent surveillance footage to both governments, as a 'reward' for their stupidity. The results of the mutagen on that footage were undoubtedly surprising to those that watched it, but their surprise did not quite match those of the retrieval teams, who found themselves cleaved into small pieces by a large, mutated appendage, attached to a rather bloodthirsty scientist.

Decades later, having alienated and giving the mutated finger to the only two governments morally questionable enough to want his work, whilst still being able to afford it, Dr. Josiah Volkov, genius, mutated biologist, finds himself living in a shit hole apartment, unemployed, unhappy, and worst of all, bored.

Still looking very good for a man who must be past his 60s - thanks to the mutagen - but ultimately without money, without a large penthouse, and without much to do.

Motivation: Knowledge, Money, Power, in that order. The usual driving forces of the world.

Strengths: -Dr. Volkov is very adept physically. He will not be lifting cars any time soon, but his stamina, agility and strength are considerably higher than that of an average adult male.

-The mutagen has had no effects on his intellect, meaning that Dr. Volkov is still, in the field of biology, a scientific genius. He couldn't tell you how to load an assault rifle, how to hotwire a car, or anything else that could be considered...useful...in a fight, but when it comes to analysing the human body, he's pretty special.

-His only specific, notable change in biology; his right arm, is, in most transformations, very powerful. There are a fair few drawbacks to this, but most transformations are excellent at hurting things.

-With his generally high physical capabilities, and an arm that can potentially mutate into different weapons, Volkov is rather good at adapting, both fighting offensively or defensively, as the situation requires. As previously mentioned, don't expect him to be throwing cars, levelling buildings, or performing amazingly heroic feats, but he is a brilliant all-around fighter...with the potential to cleave or stab things.

Weaknesses: -His general physical capabilities are not lacking in any way, but they fall far from the category of 'super'; he can survive a surprising amount of damage, knock out a man with a few hard blows, and spint fast and far, but he does not excel to the point of superpowers with these abilities.

-He can load a pistol and use a knife, but other than this he possesses no knowledge relevant to a battle situation. He will be largely unhelpful in providing useful information when it comes to tactics, escapes traps or other obstacles. He can hit things hard, and examine the corpses brilliantly, but don't expect him to know anything at all useful other than biology.

-Fully mutating his right arm into a weapon is a taxing, agonising, time-taking process. He cannot be expected nor motivated to do this during a battle, and therefore, if ambushed, Dr. Volkov is without a chance to use his only truly powerful ability. If he is aware that a critical or difficult fight is approaching, he will use it - but it is far too painful and taxing to use without cause, or when surprised.

-The mutation of his right arm is random (within set parameters, I or Rex, I imagine, may use a dice roll), and therefore the appendage gained through the process may not be too effective in the situation, or even unhelpful.

-Whilst having great potential at adapting to situations, he fails to excel in combat when without that mutated appendage.

Name: Jay Kelvin
Detailed explanation of power: Jay able to manipulate existing bodies of water, making them move to where he wants them. Also, he can change the state of matter that the water is in (i.e. can convert water to a solid, liquid, or gas).
Appearance: Jay is in his mid-twenties, standing about 5'6. Originally from California, he has a developed tan and a thin build. He has shoulder-length brown hair, curling at the ends. He almost always wears thick sunglasses. Since the only clothes he owned in California were shorts and t-shirts, that is all he wears nowadays. He is also never seen without his sandals on. His shorts are normally held up with a belt made from bike chain, and he wears a shark tooth for a necklace.
Personality: Jay, despite his typical "Orange County Surfer" look, is a down-to-earth man. He is focussed on his goals, but also doesn't let life overwhelm him. He tends to relax when he is able to, often seen sitting on benches in Central Park just listening to the birds. More than once, he has been confronted by the Police, people assuming that he is homeless or a beggar. But this doesn't bug him; he just laughs it off.
When given a task by the Red Hand, however, he is all business.
Background: Jay grew up in Venice Beach, living with his parents and older brother, Rick. He learned to swim when he was three, and it was near impossible to keep him out of the water after that. His mother was a scientist working on new methods of locating hidden wells of water to help third-world countries, as well as methods for advanced irrigation. When he was eight, Jay's father fled in the middle of the night, not even bothering to leave a note. Crushed, Jay became more devoted to his schoolwork, trying to live up to the reputation of his mother. He began to help her with her experiments, since it combined his two loves; science and the water.
At age nineteen, Jay's mother passed away from cancer. Suddenly orphaned, Jay tried to stay close with his brother. Rick, however, decided to join Sea Shepherd in protest of animal testing. Now alone in the world, Jay decided to continue to finalize his mother's designs. By the time he was twenty-five, he had managed to create a working prototype of a portable irrigation system. The device, emplanted under the skin and linked to the brain, allowed the user to alter and move water with his mind. Moving to New York, he tried to sell the ideas to a technology firm. While his demonstrations did not manage to earn him a contract, it did bring him to the attention of the Red Hand.
Motivation: Jay's motivation is not really known; he doesn't strive for revenge, glory, or wealth. It seems like Jay is just happy with the life he has found, and is trying to live for the most.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
+ Able to use water in all it's forms for multiple situations. Water can disrupt flames or carry electricity, as well as stopping bullets. Ice can be used as a solid weapon, and can stop enemies. Steam can obscure opponents vision.
- Not much use in a situation with a minimal supply of water. While he can convert atmosphere into water vapour, it takes time and concentration.
+ Is highly efficient in the water. He can keep allies afloat in the water, and propel objects at high speed. Also, he can use water or ice to create an air bubble around his head, essentially allowing him to breathe underwater.
- Jay is not "super" in any way, and is limited by his natural traits. He is in average shape, but is not overly impressive without his powers.
- The device in body that manipulates water requires regular charging (once every 72 hours). Without power, he ceases to have any powers.

Jobz

Name: Darren MacArthur
Detailed Explanation of Power: Darren has telekinesis. His powers are limited to moving solid matter however. He has no power over liquids, gases or other things such as flames. He can move things with his mind that he physically couldn't but nothing terribly excessive. For example, he could probably lift a car a few inches off the ground, but once he did he couldn't do much else with it and it would leave him terribly drained of energy, so there would be very little point.
He has to concentrate fully on whatever he is manipulating if it weighs more than a few pounds, and is still getting used to his powers. He's only had them for about a year.
When Darren was 18 he began to notice strange things happening around him. Doors opened by themselves when there was no wind, windows slammed shut for no apparent reason. It took him a while to realize than every time a door opened or a window shut, it was because he was hot or cold and wanted a change in temperature.
He decided to test whether or not he was crazy, or if he really was moving things with his mind. Secretly hoping it was the former, at least there was medication for that. He sat down at his kitchen table one day with a plate in front of him, trying to lift it with his mind. After quite a while of squinting his eyes and focusing all his mental energy on the plate, he had accomplished nothing more than building up a sweat. So he shoved the plate away from him in frustration.
The plate slid and fell off the edge of the table, and Darren realized it was going to break. Without knowing what he was doing, he reached out and stopped the plate before it hit the ground. But he didn't do it with his hands, or any other of his bodily appendages for that matter.
For a while he was frightened of his abilities, and tried to hide them from everyone, content in pretending that they didn't exist. But every time he let his mind wander his subconscious would move something. Usually minor, like tossing his breakfast spoon on the floor or knocking the keyboard off the table when he was trying to work. But this quickly became an annoyance, and he knew he needed to control his powers.
He started off small, learning to brush his teeth without touching the brush before moving onto significantly more dangerous activities like shaving. It took him a while, but he eventually managed to get a hand of his powers and stop having random telekinetic outbursts. He has still by no means mastered them and it takes a lot of concentration for him to lift anything heavy.
Appearance: He's an average looking nineteen year old boy, perhaps a little skinny for a man of his height, but he'd filled out a bit since he left high school. His brown hair is of medium length and always messy as he never bothers to brush it and his eyes are a green tinted brown.
His typical attire is a pair of blue jeans and a band t-shirt, along with a pair of black skate shoes. He doesn't skate, but he thinks they look pretty damn cool anyway.
Background: He was adopted when he was a year old, and knows nothing about his biological parents. His younger sister, Lizzy, was born a year after he was adopted and the two of them have always been very close.
When their parents died in Darren's junior year of high school he dropped out to get a job so that Lizzy could finish school. It was about a year after that that Darren turned 18 and his powers became active.
A little more than a year after Darren's powers became known to him, Lizzy disappeared. He was distraught, he couldn't stand to lose her as well and vowed to do whatever he could to get her back, no matter what the cost.
Personality:Before the disappearance of his sister he was pretty fun loving guy, never without a couple of his good friends. Most people would say he was a good kid, albeit with a sometimes dark sense of humor.
Since Lizzy disappeared however his attitude has become significantly more serious. As far as he's concerned, until he finds her, there's no room for messing around.
Motivation: To find his sister and bring her home. He also hopes to find out who his birth parents were, and thus hopefully learn more about where his powers come from.
Strengths:His powers allow him to lift and move things most humans would not be able to, as well as move hazardous objects if he needs to because he wouldn't have to touch them. Also, his motivation to find his sister will keep him going in any situation, and he won't ever give up.
Weaknesses:He is young, headstrong and still not a master of his powers. Using his abilities is very tiring for him, especially when moving heavy objects. If his concentration is broken he will end up dropping whatever it is he's focusing on. Which can be dangerous depending on what it is.
He has never been a great fighter when it comes to hand-to-hand, and so has to rely mostly on weapons. Weapons usually meaning whatever blunt object is nearby.

The_Logician19

Name: James McHarris
Powers: James has the limited ability to control matter: he can render himself intangable, as well as anything he touches. He can also reshape matter and control desity using what he called "spirit threads", although they don't seem to work on living things.
As Ghost, his abilities were augmented by a thousand-fold; he could use the "spirit thread" to collapse or expand a near infinite amount of matter; he once "pulled" the entire planet into an object as small as a marble and restored it without harm. He was also able to reshape matter, fly, and had limited psychic ability (telepathy, astreal projection). Adagrel, however seems unwilling
or unable
to take form, leaving James effectively crippled. (Rex is writing this I feel I should clarify as there was some question in the last one. As far as I understand, Jazz will not be becoming Ghost anytime soon so his powers are limited solely to the first paragraph unless we come up to an epic climax that justifies acts of Godmod. No, the Logician won't be reshaping the Earth. Rex has finished qualifying the statements of other users and generally looking dickish)
Appearance: James (or Jazz, as his friends call him) stands about five-nine, with light brown hair and green eyes, and is about 22 years old. He generally wears jeans, boots, a t-shirt and an overshirt, along with a small silver; a memento from his grandmother. He also keeps a pair of sunglasses at him at all times, his trigger for calling Adagrel; however, the lenses are cracked, and seem to be beyond repair.
As Ghost: Ghost stands at six feet even, with straight black hair; his eyes are obscured by a pair of sunglasses. His clothing is reflected by what Jazz is wearing at the time, but it is generally black jeans, black boots, a longsleeve red shirt, and a black vest. Ghost also carried a broadsword (capable of extention through some unknown mechanism) with him at all times; he was proficient in its use.
Background:
in the dark something struck
and in the dark something else struck back...
Jacob led the average, abet gifted, life of a middle class american until the age of seventeen, when he was attacked by what seemed to be nothing and became Ghost for the first time. For a time he performed general do-goodery, but
then he died
he was forced to sacrafice himself in order to save several of his friends and family. How and why he came back from the dead are unknown, but it is evident that he is not the same person.
Personaliy: Jazz was once an optimistic hero wanting to do the right thing; this is not the case anymore. Since his enigmatic return, Jazz has been prone to depression, violent outbursts, and what appears to be schitzophrenia. He is, in so many words, a broken man.
Other strengths: Jazz, due to an unusually high intelect, posesses unusuall ability of insight and tactical ability, which was furthered by the presence of Adagrel. However, whether he still possesses this is unknown.

Lucas113

Name: Dr. Matthew Anderson
Detailed Explanation of Power: Antimatter Generation / Manipulation
When antimatter contacts normal matter it annihilates, giving off large amounts of energy. Because of a lab accident, antimatter and matter somehow co-exist within Anderson's body. As a result, he is able to project antimatter out from his skin at amazing speed. He is therefore able to destroy anything he touches. Given the amount of energy involved, this can lead to small scale explosions, as well as wide spread destruction. He can also project a stream of antimatter at assailants, acting like an antimatter 'laser' beam.
Appearance: Late 30's British white male, brown hair, blue eyes. Normal build, slightly overweight. Labcoats, shirts, sweaters, corduroy - geeky looking.
Personality: Anderson doesn't enjoy being who he is. His destructive power does against his scientific background of research and study. He fears the limits of his power, knowing what could happen if things went wrong. Yet he also knows that there are evil forces that only he can stop. He is a reluctant hero, but is growing with confidence as time progresses.
Background: Dr. Matthew Anderson is a British Physics researcher in his late 30s. He was working with an experimental particle collider when an accident occurred, sending a high velocity antimatter stream coursing through his body. When he awoke, the facility was a mass of melting and twisted metal. Anderson broke out using his newfound powers to burn his way through the safety bulkheads around the lab.
Motivation: A reluctant hero, but working for 'the greater good'. He has no issues saving people from burning buildings and the like, but when it comes to 'removing' people, he has to consider his actions carefully. He has joined the Red Hand in order to get someone to make those decisions for him - so he could follow orders and have done with it.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
+ Huge destructive power
- Reluctant to use it
+ Strong analytical mind
- Over analyses some situations, leading to stalled decision making

Lord Krunk

Name: The Opposing Force (Name Unknown)
Detailed Explantion of Power: Can manipulate electricity, whether that means EMP pulses, conjuring thunder, or just plain lightning-ing people in the face. His power also gives him the ability to power devices, should the need arise, and he can also generate enough electricity to fly in the opposite direction he shoots (not quite flying).
Appearance: Brown hair. Blue Eyes. Tall, 19-years old. Has a gold-lined jacket that he uses to conduct and store electricity when needed.
Background: Australian, is a twin brother and orphan. Little more is known about him.
Personality: A rational thinker, he will always stand between an enemy and an ally, preferring to take hits himself rather than share the damage. He is a loner and prefers to be alone with his thoughts most of the time. He travels frequently, using his modified car radio to pick up police and other signals for further use when necessary.
Inventory (optional): WEAPON OF CHOICE: Specially modified rapier with electrical conduction and burst capabilities.
Motivation: Finding his brother (Who was taken away for reasons unknown)
Strengths & Weaknesses (non-power related):
He prefers to avoid violent situations, but when the situation occurs, he mainly acts to defend his allies. This creates problems, as he is, as a result, getting into death-defying situations.
Also, when using electricity-based attacks, it is useless against rubber, causing problems.
His strengths reside in the fact that in a world run by electricity, he is king. He can power/shut down anything he wishes, and creates blackouts where necessary.

Now that that's done with, this obviously took longer than I was suspecting (given the fact that it's sunday now and I said we'd start on saturday) so my plan has morphed slightly. I'd like to begin this RP tommorrow (monday) and just have this day for working out the final kinks.

So, tentative start date, Monday Oct 24.

Everyone cool?

No, I live in New Mexico.

Huh, I was born in New Mexico then I moved to Colorado, small world.

OK...revised my characters power a bit. Made him a bit more powerful as you said Rex. I left off the bits about his history and such to make it more readable.

Just about. Commentary stuff works out fine, though copying across the image I was using for my appearance doesn't appear to have worked so for the benefit of everyone else:

That's Graham.

I'd always figued Jazz's modivation was "I don't want people to die." So he keeps them from dying, as best as he can.

...yeah.

The coffee smells like ... almonds. And is that a hint of caramel you detect? This espresso is exquisite.

"Yf there ys anythyng else Y can do for you, Sygnore , Y wyll be yn the next room." The attendant informs you graciously. His accent seems vaguely Italian though it really is hard to tell through the kevlar helmet muffling his voice.

The fully armored waiter turns to leave but stops mid-stomp with a cry of histrionic distress. "Oh! Dyos Myo, Y am so very forgetful. You're agent ys comyng. She told me to tell you she ys very sorry for beyng late but she expects to be here very soon. Yn the meantyme, enjoy the coffee!" And with that he exits, leaving you alone with (you can only assume) your fellow recruits.

The Red Hand must be busy, you conclude. There are fourteen people collected in this room that, upon careful observation, is obviously not designed to house fourteen. You're all packed like sardines sitting at a long oaken table, sipping coffee or looking out the wall sized window at the metropolis below, trying not to accidentally bump each other's elbows.

The room could best be described as a small conference chamber; comfy office chairs situated around a long table with one large television screen hanging at the far wall. The floor is a redwood of some kind and the walls are made of the same material. A thick layer of resin makes the whole room shine in the light emanating from the window. It also makes it smell somewhat oaken. There's only one way in and out, the same door the heavily armed and armored waiter left toward.

The clock on the wall read 2:45. You're meeting was scheduled for 2:35. The head chair of the table is still conspicuously empty. Whoever this Jennifer is, she's ten minutes late. She says she'll be here soon though.

You take another sip of your coffee. Nothing to do but wait.

The Iron Ninja had left his mask behind, he felt naked without it, having his face out in the open like this. He tried to hide as much of his face as possible behind the collar of his shirt. He looked at Gerald, who was sleeping on his shoulder, he muttered to himself "You bring me all the way here only to fall asleep?" Although this was much louder than it should have been and caused a few heads to turn in his direction. He hid his head further into his shirt. Gerald however had woken up, he stared down the vast majority of the curious onlookers before nipping Iron Ninja on the ear with his pincers.

The Iron Ninja shot up in his chair, "Ow! Great Odin's Ravens Gerald, what was that for?" Gerald nipped him again, "Sit up straight, you need to look respectable!" The Iron Ninja stopped slouching and straightened his hat, then turned his head to look down at Gerald again "Remind me why I'm here again."

Gerald sighed, sometimes the Iron Ninja had the patience of a two year old. "You were spending too much time around the house just lying about, you need to get back in shape, this should do it." The Iron Ninja frowned and crossed his arms and said "The least they could do is be on time..." However, being used to having a mask in front of his mouth and having to compensate the volume of his voice, he inadvertently shouted it out. A man on the far end of the table shouted back at him "Oi! Shut it!"

In a matter of seconds the Iron Ninja was out of his chair and halfway across the table, before Gerald's pincers found a hold on his ear again. Gerald pulled hard and made Iron Ninja stumble back towards his seat again "Sit down and for the love of Poseidon try to behave yourself for once," The Iron Ninja sat back down, looked down at his shoes and muttered "Yes'm", quietly this time.

The Opposing Force stared out at the sprawling metropolis below, and wondered if he could use his powers to withstand such a fall.

Probably not, he thought, with a sinking feeling in his chest.

As he drank his coffee, he began to reminisce, remember how he had arrived...

Flashback:
He was walking down an alley, searching for the man who brought him here. He avoided large cities; there was too much life and technology for him to monitor absolutely everything. He hated not being in total control of the situation.

The man, who remained anonymous, claimed to have found a lead toward his brother. He hoped that it was true, and that this enigma would uphold his end of the bargain.

As he rounded the corner, he saw a car with a man standing in front of it. He looked rather generic, wearing his tuxedo and sunglasses.

"I've been expecting you!" He said.

"As have I."

The Opposing Force frowned in disappointment. This man was too generic. That could only mean...

"I believe that you are here on behalf of your brother! I believe that you will be rather... disappointed."

"I thought as much." frowned The Opposing Force, as he knew what would happen next.

The man drew a pistol from his belt.

"Come with me, it's not like you have a choice!"

TOF smiled.

"Oh, I believe you have underestimated me."

His fingers sparked, as he whipped around and fired a bolt of electricity at the man's gun. It flew out of his hand, and clattered behind him.
He then spun around and fired a bolt at the two men that were sneaking up on him.

"You should have known better than that! Tell your boss that he's failed!"

The man shook with laughter as ten men with pistols stepped out of the mist. "I believe it is you that has failed!"

The Opposing Force smiled. He had endured worse than ten armed men before. They didn't know what they were dealing with. And they would pay the price.

He thrust his arms at the nearest of the men, but no electricity came out. He was awe-struck. How could they inhibit his powers?

And the man, who had picked up his weapon once more, fired a single shot at him, hitting him in the neck.

The Opposing Force collapsed, and pulled out the object that had hit him.

'A dart,' He thought. 'Maybe it was me that underestimated them...'

And the world closed around him, the darkness taking over.

He sighed. He didn't have time to think about it in the heat of the moment, but he knew that they were using EMP to cancel his powers out. To make matters worse, they were still using EMP on him, so he could not try and black out the wretched place so that he could escape.

He looked around at the other thirteen people sitting with him.

At least I'm not alone.
