Not a bug but more of a suggestion: perhaps it could be fun to measure which player has challenged highly underpowered (or grey) armies. This might be accompanied with a badge called 'Wussy' or something similar. It nags me a bit to be challenged repeatedly by armies with over six times my rating, in the hopes that they can have easy pickings (bashing inexperienced people who don't know yet what they're dealing with). At least they can have some sort of humiliating feat by doing that.

Anyway, I'm highly entertained by Genre Wars, keep up the good work!

Challengers don't get notice when the opponent uses the underpowered-retreat-thing and the browser doesn't update.

The Leaderboard thing says iv played 202 games while my profile says ive played 191

Underpowered is based on value of the your army between the bank and your army. Not that 1 side has 50 of each and 1 side as 1 of each. When you are in warzone and you see someone grey to you they are able to retreat no penalty. If you an army is red to you, you are able to retreat.

If I enter the Warzone with a single unit of my weakest army type, all other armies are red to me. Following your color scheme, that would mean that I could retreat from every army. As far as I can tell, the Warzone color depends solely on your current army composition, not on your cash (army + bank). It's not that I don't believe that retreating is based on (army + bank), I will check that and report back :)

edit: Someone was nice enough to challenge me (and not only did I earn more than my lost unit, I even made more money than my challenger, since I destroyed a more expensive unit).

Anyway, here are the numbers:

Challenger rating: 7390
Challenger bank account: 9500
Challenger cash on hand: 95
Challenger army cost: 9405

My rating: 122
My bank account: 48866
My cash on hand: 48741
My army cost: 125

As you can see, I had roughly five times as much money in my bank account, and his rating was way higher than mine. However, contrary to what you might think, I did have the option to retreat without penalty (I didn't make a screenie, I hope you believe me nonetheless). If retreating was indeed based on bank account, this shouldn't have been possible.

This is definitely not true. Right now rating is based solely on your current army size, as well as your win-loss-ratio. Not sure how the formula behind this works, but I (roughly) had a 50% increase in rating while I had a win-loss-ratio of 66-33, whereas right now I have a 10% decrease with a win-loss-ratio of about 45-55. Things get complicated because of one retreat. Not sure how I got that, I'm sure I never selected the normal retreat with penalty, but anyway, it just complicates figuring out the rating decrease.

For those with FireFox 3.0.8 and having problems, 3.0.9 was released and resolved a couple of issues with cookies. If you could let me know if that fixes your problems that would be great.

It seems that every once in a while, the game would simply fail to give you your winnings. The first time it happened to me, it got resolved the next day (not sure if it was because I reported the error or if it fixed itself). It happened to me again just now. I'm using Firefox, if that helps...

This has probably been said many times, but sometimes when i want to challenge someone i go straight to their profile instead of the battle screen. Then I go back to the warzone and the person i challlenged is still there.

I got my spartan badge after I beat someone who's username was highlighted red in the Warzone. looking at that battle, it doesn't look like that was the case for your opponent; at most I would estimate it was highlited yellow.

Ok, now I got the spartan badge, but I have kept track of my recent matches, and I have won the past 11, without losing, but I still haven't gotten Unconquerable.
Why?

Why did the system interpret my commands nonsensically?

A few hours ago(I'm writing this now because I thought the problem would be resolved sooner), I had 345K, I equipped my army and when I went into the warzone, the game then said I had -242K cash on hand and 103k in bank, I went to the "base area" and I it evidently deleted all the cash.

Whenever I click 'answer challenge' it just takes me to my command post

Why is my ranking so low? Mine is about 20000, but i just saw a newbie with a rank of 9000. Also, i have a ridiculously good win/loss ratio.

This seems to be a recurring problem. I was in exactly the same situation for quite a while, albeit with the "Economist" badge.

I don't know if this has been covered in the 11 pages of this thread, so if it has, sorry. I don't see ANYTHING under the "command" menu. I've accepted challenges, but there's...nothing to do. @_@

For some reason, no matter what happens in battle or whatever changes I make to my team, it shows up that I have 38 Naughty Zombies. The money used indicates I am using more, but my Zombie Army list only shows 38 Naughty Zombies, 0 Vomiting Zombies, and 0 Plague Bats. It can't change.

Just recently, I was challenged by someone with a 20-20-20 army, all of them with average stats. When I went to the Issue Orders screen, the army changed into a 10-22-24 army, the 10 unit being a strong-mighty type. I still won the battle, but it has me worried that I might accept a challenge from a person with a small army, and end up fighting an army that will destroy mine completely.

I just bought two different units,and payed for them.It will not allow me to use them,and I still have the units I had before.

When i make changes to my army, it takes a few minutes to update it in the warzone.

The army you buy doesn't correspond to the army that shows up in the actual game. Plus, there have now been several times when I challenge somebody and make my commands, then in the "waiting" screen, their army has suddenly made a drastic change.

I tried buying a different set of units, and now it says that they are the old units, but have the costs of the ones that I added. (which means that I have 100 battlemechs, which cost only about $15,000...)

Same. Nothing on the Command tab. I can use IE8 and still nothing on there, so I have to believe it's nothing wrong on my end, rather the programming.

If you look under the announcements thread you can see an explanation about why the scout armies is different than what you battle. Basically when scouting you only see what they used in their last battle.

I thought we had this fixed. If you click on the Genre Wars tab next to badges does it take you to the command screen correctly or do you get a blank tab?

I stand corrected. In reviewing the code it is based solely on army value not army+bank value. The challenge rating is overall rating of your army including your win/loss record and does not play a factor in the warzone.

All fixed for me now, looks good, will have to see if I can get some treasure!
