Things like fallout 1 and 2(not that horribly written pile of putrid mush of a hiking simulator that is Fallout3 thanks a bunch Bethesda Slopworks) Arcanum(anything by troika RIP) and the old Shadowrun games were pretty well executed too I'd say. JRPGs for the most part have become and I suppose always have been to samey for my tastes, its a cultural thing about repetition that makes them that way from what I'm led to believe. But I love my Survival Horror and FPS and sandbox games too with just the slightest hint of RTS with more then a dash of TBS. As well as of course ye olde adventure games. |

Muckraker Posts: 240 Joined: 11 Aug 2009 | I feel I evolved when I moved from Platform to RPG, but sometimes, like when I played Zelda: The Twilight Princess, I couldn't help doubt my evolution =[ Particularly when I had to protect the burning cart. That really made me want to kill myself (myself being Link, obvs). To kill dead. Like with a rock or something. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1325 Joined: 9 Jan 2009 | Somewhere between RPG's and action games, with a little bit of shooter. Mass Effect, Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts. Or maybe puzzle adventures. Metroid, Zelda... I can't choose! |

Infamous Scribbler Posts: 599 Joined: 31 Jul 2008 | It's very close between RPG, RTS and FPS, but if I had to choose one of them it'd have to be RPG. Very few games provide as much sustained enjoyment as a well-crafted RPG, and the genre has plenty of excellent titles that have given me hundreds of hours of enjoyment (Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, KotOR, Mass Effect...etc) |
Muckraker Posts: 337 Joined: 29 Jul 2009 | ooh, probably FPS. It's Because of these games: >Left 4 Dead< There are a lot of good titles IMHO, So I'll stay with FPS. |

Although I am making a few judgments here, I'd kind of assume that most people would vote perhaps RPGs and FPSs as their favourite genres for the reason that most gamers who are more hardcore than others tend to be into the 'deeper' genres (if you can even call them that). Secondly, most hardcore-ish gamers join forums and communities like this one. Just my own examinations :) Completely objective.
Anyway, of course, my favourite genre is RPG.
