If you say something it doesnt make it true. Now obviously you think Conservatives are crazy and I think Liberals are crazy so between us we cant really do anything other than agree to disagree. Still I do kind of find it funny that your view is apparently that a minority of people cloistered in a small area are the sane ones and that everyone else is crazy. Yeah that does work very well with the whole mental institution metaphor.
I disagree that all we can do is agree to disagree (plus, I loathe that expression.)
I can and will say that you're wrong, that conservatives are crazy, and that your belief that liberals are crazy is simply a symptom of you yourself being conservative, and therefore crazy.
If you have a problem compromising with people you don't always agree with then that might be a good microcosm for one of the key things that is wrong with Washington.
You know a psychologist once told me that if you know you are crazy you probably are not crazy. You seem to think I am crazy but don't think you are crazy. I know I'm crazy (though in a different way) so what would that imply? (And yes I am needling you because your argument is ridiculous).
Oh I'm always happy to compromise. Just not with people who are wrong.

In other words you are happy to compromise with people so long as they agree with you because you certainly can't be wrong. Ah the small joys of this forum are one of the many things that keep me here.

So, all conservatives are crazy and they are all therefore wrong?
I hate to break it to you, but that is hardly a valid argument.
you do realize that there are degrees of conservatism right? I could agree with you if you would specify that radicalized conservatives are crazy, but to use a blanket statement like that is just, to be blunt, wrong.

I think radicalized anything is crazy (if not in the clinical sense then in the conversational sense) but yeah that is another problem with everythingbeeps' argument.

Oh, it's not an argument. Just a statement. You've clearly realized by now that I'm not on the goddamn Debate Team and I don't use terms like "straw man" and "ad hominem" and I'm not trying to sway a captive and undecided audience here.
And hey, even if I were, I'd still be better at it than the current field of GOP contenders! Zing!

Whatever the case my be, I will be first to point out that this line of thinking,
"Oh I'm always happy to compromise. Just not with people who are wrong,"
is the very thing that many liberals accuse conservatives of doing, and then condemn them for it. Just some food for thought. It is very much a, "Pot calling the kettle black," scenario.

Because when the conservatives do it, they're wrong. When liberals do it, we're right. What part of this are you not getting?

I get it now. It's as plain as day. I can't take you seriously.
The ICC thing is mostly out of fear that the US Constitution would take a back seat to International Law.
Why did you have to get fingerprinted to visit disneyland?
Its not just disneyland, all tourists are fingerprinted on entering the states. I was just being colourful in my phrasing of it.
Sorry seekster, SOPA is annoying me at the moment, and i kinda hopped on the take a swing at the US bandwagon without thinking, hence the Edit.
Oh to get into the country. I thought you meant that before you entered the park they finger printed you at the park gate.
Yeah we dont have open borders agreements like you have between EU nations.
Hi Seekster, its me again :)
I just recently accompanied a friend of mine to renew his USA visa, and my god, the hoops we had to jump through!!!
paper A and Paper B have to be stapled together with paper B facing upside down, and the photo has to be precisely sized and paper clipped here, and FYI if you want to know the size of the photo, go to this link and find out for your self. Bring this receipt and that receipt, but you have to go to another website to reserve to go to the embassy....
it was like "seriously? " All other embassies and government offices in Japan will sort out the papers and file it for you as long as you got everything there. Why do we have to do every f@@@king thing for you?
Then, of course there is the security check to get into the embassy, then you have to turn off your mobile phones...but wait! your email and appointment number is in your phone so you have to reboot it again! etc.etc. etc.
All this, just because now the US requires you to have fingerprints.
It's just ridiculous. i think its either you are all toi paranoid, or the staff there dont even have the efficiency or skill to sort out papers by themselves. Yet they get paid salary from your taxes.

Yeah thats just American exceptionalism, as in American visas are exceptionally harder to renew than other visas.
Seriously though, many people in the United States are aware of how hard it is to legally enter the country and are calling for the system to be streamlined and reformed...now it just a matter of doing it, which is of course the hard part.
Sorry things are so difficult for you. If it makes you feel any better Americans have to take off our shoes and remove laptops from our bags and place them in bins along with other metal objects before we go through security at airports now.

its also just as hard for US citizens to even leave the country not to mention the large waiting period for a passport. its a pain in the ass but least it only has to be renewed every decade or so. heck just to get my locked money out of a court case victory when i turned 18 was pretty hardcore.

Well, as long as you guys are aware of it and in the process of trying to make it better :)
Seriously though, I understand that after 9.11, any country would get paranoid.
In Japan right now (I have been in Tokyo a lot lately) people are paranoid about screwing down furniture and having emergency back packs in case there is another earthquake.
My friend got shock absorber pad for the flat screen TV so that it doesn't fall off and shatter, but we later found out that the absorber is so strong that the TV is permanently stuck on the TV shelf, and we cannot remove it anymore.
Now it makes us wonder, Ok, so the TV wont fall off, but now I can't move it. So was it really worth the trouble of sticking it on with shock absorbers???
Sometimes, we just do too much and find out later that it was simply over done.
