Iran is mistaken if they think having a bomb is going to make people less likely to assault their sovereignty or whatever they perceive to be assaults on their sovereignty. Case and point, America doesn't exactly ask Pakistan's permission before killing terror leaders in their country, including Bin Laden. If we don't I guarantee you Israel isnt going to ask permission if it sees a chance to take out a bomb assembly plant or some kind of delivery system that it feels is a threat. If this causes a bomb to go off God-forbid, as far as Israel is concerned that is on Iran.
Actually it would most likely help deter anyone to attack them. Israel is a rather small country and it wouldn't take that many nukes to obliterate all the major cities. And seeing how the iranian leadership presents itself as being batshit crazy it adds credibility to their willpower to carry such a thing out. The reason why the US uses Pakistan as its playground is because the pakistani leadership is the US's bitch. Hardly comparable with the situation in Iran. If Iran had nukes the US wouldn't even consider doing in Iran what it does in Pakistan. (Israel might be cocky enough to do it but i don't see it ending well)
I've said it before and I will say it again, and please don't take this as an insult because it isnt meant as one, the fastest way to demonstrate a lack of understanding of foreign policy issues is to talk about people nuking each other. It isnt going to happen. No sovereign territorial power (meaning a nation with land to its name) is going to nuke anyone else because to do so is to essentially commit national suicide.
HA HA HA. We WISH Pakistan's leadership was our bitch. Its more accurate to say all they do is bitch and then act surprised when the world's most wanted terrorists is found living close to their equivalent of West Point.
If Iran had nukes we would do whatever we are doing in Iran even more because they would require more extensive monitoring.

Actually, yes it would.
Nuclear devices tend not to destroy cities. They do a great deal of damage, yes, kill lots of people, yes, but you could initiate a one megaton yield nuclear device in London and 80% of the people and 95% of the stuff would survive.
Nuclear devices aren't intended to destroy cities. They are intended to destroy things that (unfortunately for the people living there) happen to be in cities.
They also cause massive chaos, which is usually overlooked, but shouldn't be. Further away from the device, sticky tape on the windows makes a big difference to your odds of survival, a face full of broken glass is quite nasty. Even a "minor" injury is a big deal when thousands of other people have them as well, any hospitals around that survive are flooded, there's no water or power or traffic control etc.
