No, but I'll have to remember to do that. I just don't have a camera. I'm getting a cellphone with some birthday money I got soon, so when I see him next time I'll shout to the sky "Hey, can I get a picture with you!?"

I'm not going off on some personal vendetta or character assassination here, but in another recent thread you mentioned you also believe in mermaids and other mythical creatures but without proof. I also recall you mentioned you were "otherkin", although I'm not really sure what this means in your case (in my past experience it's usually an excuse for teenagers to write terrible fanfics about how they're the reincarnated souls of celestial dragons).

It sounds like you've set the bar for believing in the supernatural so low that you're ready to buy into just about any report or sighting with minimal scrutiny, because this helps you maintain the cognitive dissonance required to keep up the facade associated with your chosen internet religion. And with all due respect, I don't think you really believe what you're saying - nobody can be that blasé about these staggeringly supernatural claims. I think you're enamored by the romantic idea of there being hidden and exciting extra dimensions to everyday life. Look, lots of people engage in harmless escapism like roleplay or LARP, but wilful self-deception is no way to live.

Mermaids and shit have historical basis. I don't believe in Bigfoot, just things there is sufficient mythological precedent. Besides, I've met Otherkin who claim to have been Mermaids.

Katatori-kun:
Not all religions even make a claim. There's some seriously ignorant shit going on all up in here. You seriously need to stop pretending every religion functions like a bad stereotype of Christianity.

Really? Why did you never say this before then?

So if bigfoot stories stick around long enough, they will become more believable in your view?

Not sure what an "Otherkin" is.

You really need to take some classes on why humans write stories like that....they're not literal historical accounts.

Not all of them, of course.

So if bigfoot stories stick around long enough, they will become more believable in your view?

I would require more proof since technology is readily available to capture such creatures on film and stuff. Back when people first talked about mermaids, they didn't have cameras. We do now, so the bar of proof is set higher.

Why would you require more proof? Why does the ability to take video evidence render the anecdotal evidence suddenly moot?

I guess you have a point. Maybe I should look more into Bigfoot and the Moth Man and the haunted house down the road. Now that I think about it, I don't know why I am so skeptical. I guess because it SOUNDS fake. Must research more.

Why does Bigfoot sound more fake than mermaids? And why is your response to lower your standard of evidence for Bigfoot, instead of raising your standard of evidence for mermaids?

I dunno. It just seems more obviously fake.

Just because something exists in mythology doesn't lend it the weight of history. All that attests to is human imagination and the power of storytelling.

Also, if somebody claimed to have seen an alien, would you just believe them?

Yeah, Katatori! You need to speak up on this issue.

My official stance on aliens has been "no comment" for awhile. Aliens may or may not exist, and each possibility is compatible with my religious beliefs.
