Don't forget that Richard Dawkins teaches us to enslave other people if possible, that those slaves may never rebel against their atheist masters and you can even sell your own daughter as a sex slave.

Deuteronomy? If not then damn close as thats the one with "kill all the non-believers" in it.

Nah, I think it's Exodus.

And to the OT: I don't suppose there's anyone lurking who... I dunno, can pick up the other side of this debate? Unlikely, but hey, you never know.

that video was really interesting, thanks for sharing it

Type "TED talks" into youtube and there is a youtube channel with over 1000 video's.

Watching them all would be an uncessary strain but the one I showed was quite high up the list (for a good reason).

They are all quality talks from people who deserve to speak on a stage. Some have had a legnthy career and gained much experiance. Others created a fusion reactor in their shed... no really, have a look.

It's like there aren't multiple academic disciplines devoted to answering questions of ethics and morality, sometimes with fairly rigorous science. Oh wait, there are. Admittedly, we're talking about practical manifestations of background beliefs, but things like abstinence-only "education" and the effects of homophobia on mental health are *testable things*.

A lot of the things Christians say are "just wrong, that's all I need to know" lead to practices that do demonstrable, provable harm.
