Virginia Republicans Call for Armed Revolution if Obama Wins in November

Yes, they actually printed this:
The ultimate task for the people is to remain vigilant and aware ~ that the government, their government is out of control, and this moment, this opportunity, must not be forsaken, must not escape us, for we shall not have any coarse but
armed revolution should we fail with the power of the vote in November ~ This Republic cannot survive for 4 more years underneath this political socialist ideologue.

I don't have enough pink pixels in the world to give this the scorn it deserves.

Some great articles in there, too. Like "Political Action Against Islamic Infiltration", and "Rallying Against the Living Wage: UVa Conservatives Thwart Leftist Initiative".

What the fuck:

The program reviews the Qur'anic background, Sharia law and the Muslim Brotherhood in the US and updates its infiltration into our political and educational institutions. This is a legal threat that we need to counter with political action at the local and state levels. It is not a matter of religion. A case in point is the pro-Islamic discrimination in our K-12 schools, where children are being indoctrinated in the superiority of Islam over all religions and special Sharia dispensations are demanded for Muslims. While most people are generally aware of overt terrorism, they often are not acquainted with the underlying driving ideology. This program fills that void and points to local action in the public schools.

It took them five months to notice they had a call for armed insurrection up on their website, but when someone DID point it out, they took it down. They allegedly put up an apology, which I didn't see on their site.

Since they apparently had an attack of sanity and took it down off of their site, here's an archived copy.

(Party of Lincoln? They've been the Party of Jefferson Davis for MY lifetime.)

To be fair, the government is stocking up on ammo.[1]

I've actually seen that craziness pop up on Facebook from one of my Tea Party relatives.

.....The sad part is this isn't even news anymore....

Captcha: Silver Lining: Man, I wish I could see it...

"Despite a 25-year effort by the VLF and the organizations it supports to teach literacy skills to adults, Virginia still has 853,786 adults who never completed high school (2006 US Census American Community Survey). One out of five adults is considered functionally illiterate, and 662,715 lack basic prose literacy skills."[1]

All I'm saying is... there may be a connection.

The wingnuts simply cannot deal with the fact that they are on the losing side of history. Their ideas have been roundly proven to simply not work. So they're left screaming "SOCIALIST," attempting to disenfranchise people who don't vote for them, and, as we see here, calling for armed insurrection.

Somebody seriously needs to explain democracy to these people.

Democracy is a two-way street; You get the opportunity to have a say in your government, but by doing so, you agree to abide by the decision of the group, even if your choice lost.

Unless they're actually advocating subverting the very democracy America is so proud of?

Well, there's the problem. Seems like they don't recognize ANY Republican loss as 'legitimate'. So, no, they only want to play the game as long as they WIN.

I swear, I've met 5-year-olds more mature than the GOP these days.

I'm all for Virgina seceding. GTFO and see how long you last.

Armed Revolution eh? Where can I sign up and get my Loyalist Militia uniform? Any state that tries to secede over one election deserves to get dragged kicking and screaming back into the union. This is especially true seeing as I doubt any states population would be majority for secession, and even then it'd be incredibly slight. If Georgia tried that shit I'd head my ass out.

Every party out of power does this kind of shit, Democrats did it back when Bush was president and they'll do it if Romney wins.

I'll admit I was very young when Bush first got elected and I paid even less attention to foreign politicians than I did Canadian ones, but I don't recall any democrats calling for civil war over his election.

No, they did not. Democrats only threaten to move to Canada, not call for violent revolution.

Bullshit. I know plenty of Libruls who half-joked about emigrating when Shrub won, and 'won' again, but I don't recall ANY of them saying "We need to start an armed rebellion!" (Probably because most of us suspect that a lot of Conservatives will be able to die happy if they get to murder a hippie first...)

Okay it seems I may have put that one wrong. I meant just stupid shit in general not secession. The Republicans definitely have that front monopolized.

*quickly googles population of virginia* surely that cant be right.. 1.6 million out of 8 million people basically illiterate in a country that is the richest country on earth.

someone in politics outright callingfor the overthrow of your government by armed rebellion.. isnt that treason?

Well, we have an obviously biased article making claims based on a document that apparently no longer exists.

I'm not impressed.

No, you have to be aiding enemies of the country for it to be treason... I think.

Adults though not everyone.

I'd think that would be counter-productive because it would make them a martyr and people would actually begin to take such a movement seriously.

You may be shocked to hear that the average reading level of Americans is generally considered to be about 8th grade. The number of Americans who can't read a newspaper critically is also alarmingly high. [1] My brother is probably one of the people who reads at about a middle school level. It's painful to hear him read aloud.

I wonder how these Tea Party nuts can even claim to be the most "patriotic" americans.

The south was the last to leave Britain and the First to leave the U.S.

They've frequently stood against laws enacted by the Federal Government that they just don't like.

And now they're calling for an armed revolution just to kick anyone out of government that isn't some fringe extremist.

They aren't patriots and need to stop deluding themselves.

LetalisK:

Well, they have a lot of coal. They'll be smoggy as all hell, but they'll be alive... until the cancer and black lung get them anyway.

Ah, seems the BS session threat bug has moved on from Texas.

Dags90:

I've actually seen that craziness pop up on Facebook from one of my Tea Party relatives.

To be fair, the feds recently made a carry change from a 9mm Parabellum to .40 Smith & Wesson handgun. All of that ammo is just going to all agents who are required to carry daily. It's not like they're stocking up for a citizen suppression operation.

"Pick up that can, citizen."

A second one? I covered a story of another GOP group doing this.

Seems like the "do what we say or we'll hurt you" mentality is growing.

/facepalm

Frankly, if the GOP wants a civil war, I only have one question: Where do I sign up for the Union?

That is treason, and they should be prosecuted if they are serious.

Helmholtz Watson:
That is treason, and they should be prosecuted if they are serious.

Yeah, pretty much this. I'm starting to wonder - when can we prosecute people for openly advocating treasonous actions?

Helmholtz Watson:
That is treason, and they should be prosecuted if they are serious.

Well the problem is that some of them are serious about actually preparing for a Civil War, but not serious in the means that they'd actually go through with it. Plus there's the whole issue that it's not legally possible to determine if they're serious unless they do something overt.

So here's to hoping they're just full of it and won't actually try something stupid.

Elect G-Max:
No, you have to be aiding enemies of the country for it to be treason... I think.

Everyone knows that the abreviation TEA in the name of the Tea Party stands for The Enemy of America.

N'aww, you adorable, marginally-naive person. It's right, the US is in a dire state when it comes to educating its future generations. Here, have some bonus links relating to education levels and an electoral battle map:

http://www.cnn.com/election/2012/ecalculator#?battleground
http://www.edgetech-us.com/map/EduLvls.htm

i knew the education system in the usa was in really bad shape. But this is something else entirely. its left me dumbfounded that its been allowed to of deteriorated to this level.

nikki191:

Deteriorate?
What makes you think this was somehow incidental?
Peasants don't need to read.

Hmmm... Calling out an armed rebellion because the democratic government in place is percieved as socialist..?

Someone better check if Franco's corpse haven't wandered off somewhere. There's necromancers about, and I called it.

nikki191:

It shouldn't, really, always going to be reasons for ignoring a problem or making it worse.

For that matter, look at the educational standards of various aboriginal communities in Australia.

Traitors. Off with their heads.
And then a tea party with the royal hatter.

There may not be.

After all, if we're talking about what the Virginia Republicans have written, you need to worry about the functionally literate rather than the functionally illiterate.
