So.... Sean Hannity...

Any reason I shouldn't listen to this guy? I've grown use to listening to his talk radio show on my long rides home each day. Sometimes I agree with him, sometimes I don't. I hear people giving him crap because he's conservative... Dunno, he's the first diehard conservative I've ever listen to that doesn't want to make me stick my head in a deep fryer.

Anything on this guy? Any dark past or whatnot?

Here's a sample of how the rest of the world views Sean Hannity, mainly the worst kind of double standards and blatant race baiting...

Link is broken.
Now Hyrule is lost forever to Ganondorf and his evil minions!

Excellent...

Anyways, Sean Hannity is essentially Glenn Beck light. The fact that you can listen to him without sticking your head into a fryer is no small miracle.

He is one of the hardest guys to listen to on Fox news, and that's saying something. My hyper-conservative family refuses to watch him for too long. As for reasons why, he has a tendency to strawman and is a massive ideologue. He is also one of the bigger "this not conservative is obviously a socialist" guys on the channel. I will admit though that most of those guys have much more bearable radio shows than TV shows.

I remember him inviting a panel of people on the subject of abortion and the woman's right to govern her own body and vagina. The lot of them where men. Not one fucking woman. Old right wing farts looking gravely concerned that they might not get to govern the latter instead. Way to go for objectivity Hannity. He is a douchebag.

And no I did not see it on Fox. I saw it on The Daily Show where Stewart pointed the above out.

I regularly listen to people I disagree with. It's more fun then listening to people I agree completely with.

So listen to him if you want to.

I personally can't stand the guy, just like all the people on fox news, they're just so condescending. For my conservative views I usually look to David Brooks, smart guy, not very radical, and I can definitely understand his line of thinking and appreciate it even if I disagree with it, and sometimes I don't even disagree! He wrote a GREAT piece after the protests over the Muhammad Danish cartoons back whenever those were.

But for radio I have no idea, no car :(

Um, I like to listen to opposition views myself. And frankly, Sean Hannity, Bill Oreilly, El Rushbaugh, etc, they're all more entertaining than NPR and the BBC, even though I would trust the latter two for more accurate information. So, nothing wrong with it, do what you like.

I guess my main, personal, grief when I have one, is just that their stuff is sometimes so very factually inaccurate, and yet they remain so smug about it. Sean Hannity drove me crazy from Day 1, anyway. I used to be a libertarian, Ron Paul supporter type, and the shit Ron Paul got from even Fox News but Sean Hannity especially during the primaries in 2008 was ridiculous.

I'm personally more of a fan of Neil Boortz who is retiring in January. But he's much more enjoyable to listen to than Sean Hannity who I rarely agree with cause he always throws a religious angle into everything which I don't agree with most of the time. Although he is entertaining to listen to, especially when a caller is beating him, he goes into mud slinging and straw men, and yelling over the person.

Hey, if masochism is your thing, who are we to judge? Whatever floats your boat.

Oh I hate his television show, it's absolutely obnoxious. It's like the camera goes on and he starts to become a parody of himself. His radio program he seems much more relaxed.

One thing I never understand is the liberals who call up and try to argue with him, like Christ. All he's going to do is talk over you and make you look foolish, so why bother?

It's like a recent Moment of Zen on the Daily Show that basically involved 2 guys trying to talk over each other, telling the other to shut-up. There is no longer reasonable discourse on a lot of talk shows, just whomever can yell the loudest.

He writes a book of which the title mentions liberalism, despotism and terrorism in the same sentence and suggests Americans need to be 'delivered from it'.

So apparently according to Hannity, justice, freedom, equal rights and other liberal core values are just as bad as getting blown up...

Also the guy has made extremely offensive remarks, telling someone homosexual he was sorry for their child. So Hannity must be extremely dumb to get down with homophobia like that. And does anyone want to make a really safe bet with me? Despite that Hannity is a homophobe, the only justification for which can be taking the bible too seriously, he doesn't follow any tenet of Christianity that is related to himself, like not being greedy about other people's things.

He's got the same rough intelligence level as the other Fox News employees (Which is to say he's largely divorced from reality) but focuses more on being a shill for the GOP than any other talk show guy. One way that you can easily tell that he is more focused on the Republicans is that he actually joined the majority of the party in asking Todd Akin to drop out of this years election after he demonstrated just how fucking stupid some anti-choice people can get when he claimed rape victims don't get pregnant.

That said considering the shape of the Republican party i honestly wouldn't be surprised if someone were to tell me pulled off homophobic or misogynistic bullshit on par with O'Reily.

I can't stand him personally, just another example of someone championing the right while going on and on about how the left is so 'evil', and maybe he's right about the left being 'evil', but he never seems to get to explaining how the right isn't any damn different. He's there to make sure the status quo of a dual party system retains its prominence, making harder to people to see that both sides are fucking corrupt and controlled.

Not as bad as Ann Coulter, and luckily for all of us, he was abusive and angry enough that Colmes left Fox News for somewhere he isn't a human strawman.
